Thanks for the reply. Do you happen to have a part number? -
Electric Steering Fuse?

What exactly did you do to fix the issue? I had the same thing happen with the wrench while I was changing my battery. -

Post your 2014+ wheel/tire set-up
DanJS10 replied to BlueWrapper's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
I had a 2" MotoFab level installed last week and my wheels and tires came in today. The wheels are Method Mesh 20x9, 18mm offset. Tires are Falken Wildpeak LT285/55R20. So far, on the ride to work, no rubbing at all while backing into the loading dock or backing into a parking space. With the tires inflated to 50 psi, the ride feels just like the stock wheels and tires. -

Had a 2" MotoFab level installed last week. Truck sits darn near perfectly level. Still have stock 20" wheels and tires but that's gonna change this week. I'm going with Method Mesh 20 x 9 with Falken Wildpeak LT285/55R20 tires. Can't wait to get 'em on. -
Vacuum Pump Replacement/Diagnosis
DanJS10 replied to 6.2_GMC_DEN's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
Thanks for the advice. I figured it would take a video to prove to these morons that it's not a normal noise. This dealer is definitely one of the shitty ones that don't care. -

My truck is a 2016 5.3 with 26k and I've had the vacuum pump tick for about 20k miles. I've complained to the dealer for each of the last 3 oil changes and they say it's normal. What did you guys tell the dealer to get them to look at the issue seriously? -
Thanks man. It's been great so far. My kids were amazed this morning when I was showing them how it worked on the way to school! lol Yeah, I noticed that Dokus had raised his prices. I'm pretty sure that he's still cheaper than other sellers because he offers both the module and basic programming in one package. I don't really blame him for trying to capitalize on what has been a fairly popular upgrade for shortage 2016 and earlier trucks. That's a pretty large market, but it also opens up opportunities for people like you to go out on a limb and offer similar services at a lower price point.

So I've been lurking on this thread for a few days (which is a GREAT thread, by the way) and I decided to purchase a 2.5 HMI from Dokus on eBay for $225 w/ VIN programming. I figure that since the truck had a $200 credit when I bought it for not having AA/CP, this cost me $25 plus shipping. Here's my situation: my truck is a 2016 Silverado LT without factory nav that was a part of the parts shortage and didn't come with AA/CP, but everything else appeared to be ready for AA/CP. The truck came with the updated USB ports in the center console. When I contacted Dokus, I asked if it was going to be a simple plug and play deal with the HMI and he said yes, so I decided to pull the trigger. I installed the HMI last night. It was super easy to remove the lower glove box (4 - T-15 bolts), unplug the connectors, and slide the old HMI out and reverse the process to install the new HMI. Android Auto works perfectly with my Pixel 2 XL. OK Google voice commands, steering wheel volume up/down and forward/back buttons, long press of steering wheel speak button to access Google Assistant, Maps/navigation, Google Play Music, iHeart Radio App, voice texting, and voice dialing all work perfectly. If you have a 2016 shortage vehicle and you're on the fence about doing this, DO IT. You won't be disappointed. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread, especially th3magpi3, for going out and trying anything and everything for those that have pre-2016 trucks. Also, shout out to Draphty for having a similar experience to me with his 2016 shortage truck which gave me more confidence to do this. Here's a picture of the 2.0 and 2.5 HMI modules.

New brake pads, pedal goes to the floor
DanJS10 replied to Lee Nettnin's topic in 2000-2014 Silverado & Sierra HD
For what it's worth, I had an 08 Sierra 1500 and once after I completed changing brake pads the pedal went straight to the floor just as you described. Went to the dealership and they replaced the master cylinder and even the booster (both under warranty!!) as a precaution. Sounds like you're on the right path but I figured I'd throw in my two cents. Good luck. -

This is exactly what I want to do. What is the size of the AT3's you went with? -
2014+ AFM (Active Fuel Management)
DanJS10 replied to Ron.s's topic in 2014-2019 Engine, Driveline, & Exhaust
That's too bad because mine works great. I had mine updated to the latest firmware and in the last 3 days since I got it back I haven't had any issues whatsoever. Did you know if yours was updated? -

DanJS10 replied to Ron.s's topic in 2014-2019 Engine, Driveline, & Exhaust
http://rangetechnology.com Range sells an AFM disable module that plugs into the OBDII port. It doesn't make any changes to the computer and leaves no traces for the dealer find. I used one on my 2008 Sierra 5.3 and it worked beautifully. I just sent it in to Range to have them update the firmware to work on my 2016 Silverado 5.3. Look at their website for more info.
