chupe442 replied to Badbird2000's topic in 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500
Wow, I said that wrong... Sorry.. I meant it had to be Z71 for the All Terrain package, but couldnt be All Terrain without being Z71 already... Somebody's head just exploded on that one.... -

the All Terrain is an appearance package for the Z71 from what I was understanding.. You cant have one without the other.. -
My 2003 Silverado caught fire yesterday
chupe442 replied to 03SIL's topic in 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500
WOW!!! That SUCKS! Call insurance and hope for the best! IMO.. After you get this all fixed and put back together on your own, you would be too paranoid to turn the key again... Say a prayer and let her go.. There are more trucks in your future... Good luck! -

Parasitic Battery Drain From Bcm

Good to know if the need calls.. I have been lucky and not have to do any welding on the past couple of trucks. -

So prior to welding on the truck (exhaust or whatever), are you supposed to pull the ground on the battery? -
Dreaded "Reduced Engine Power" issue

Most readers out there will only read the engine codes when the light is on, not the ones in memory or airbags. Unless of course you happen to have the expensive one on hand and that is what you are referring to. Even the Oreilly/Advanced Auto stores readers will not read airbag codes. It sucks!

Been down this road too much in the past.. You have to have the codes. Not the ones from your hand held or Orielly shop reader, but the dealer code reader to find exactly what module has failed. Good luck!

You will not find anyone that will condone a canned tune over a custom one.. For a canned tune, the Hyper may be good. But a custom would take a great canned tune to the next level. I considered the price difference between a can and custom. Went with the custom BlackBear, never looked back...

Electrical System Confusion!
chupe442 replied to 5.3Avalanche's topic in 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500
As much as I hate the "get codes" replies..... We are living in a computer driven age. Code reads are a must unless you find where the factory smoke left a trail... Sorry! Good luck! -
Oddly, I cant seem to find much in parts for it either... May have to call a dealer. Have them give you the part number as well as price and availability. Then you will be able to search the part on line for aftermarket or overstock etc. The only thing I really was able to come up with was discussions that entailed having to be in park in order to make any adjustments.

Surprised no one else has chimed in to help you.. I would think that actuator is bad or it has jumped out of sinc to where the stops are now opposite of where they should be giving a much tighter action. How much is a new actuator assembly?
