  1. Don't think they make a slide in camper that weighs 759 lbs max. Then when you load it up as 00Silverado4x4 stated, plus you and passengers getting in it.......
  2. Dont know but I first went to a dealer and aske about the pre bent lines he said they make thier own, same as the local garage told me. BTW, dealer told me cost is about $2000.00 My town garage did it for $600.00.
  3. Had local garage replace mine. dont have a second vehicle so needed a one day job. i mentioned the pre-bent lines and he said it takes longer because of what you had to do, jacking the body, dropping the tank. he used NI-COP alloy lines. Nothing was leaking but being a 2001 i didnt want to play Russian Roulette.
  4. Yes. They are still arguing with GM. GM says it is not a safety issue because the front and back are on different lines. I put in a complaint but dont expect it to ever be resolved. Replaced all the lines to avoid hitting someone and getting sued.
  5. The old salt and sand mix was not anywhere near as bad as the magnesium chloride being used in some states. Not only rusting out cars and tractor trailers but bridges too.
  6. Anywher they use deicer you are screwed as far as rust. Washing it off is not always possible when the temp is 20 degrees. I will never buy anything new to run in the winter. Keep a old vehicle for salt season.
  7. only one I know of is Subaru and they DID a recall.

  9. Called dealer yesterday about replacing lines with pre-formed. He said they form them there. I told him about TSB 13-05-22-001. He was not aware of it. Getting pre-formed lines is supposed to drop the final cost way down. He told me he would check and call back. See what happens. This issue with complaints about accidents to the NHTSA has been going on for years and is still open. GM should not wait for some kind of multi vehicle tragedy but look what they did with the faulty ignition switches.
  10. I must have spoke with the same woman. I felt like I wasted my time. I am sorry to hear your problem. I think she said that 3 times. I decided to put in a complaint with the NHTSA. There are a lot there and I figured I would add my own. They will recall tailgate cables but a defect possibly causing deadly accidents? NOPE.
  11. Well I just checked with GM Customer service. All I could get from them is there is no recall, they dont know what the $500 repair kit is, I got a reference number and they said bring it to a dealer for diagnosis, if you dont agree with diagnosis call us back. I said so it seems I will pay for the diagnosis and repair since there is no recall, she said I would say so since you are not in warranty. Like a rock.
  12. https://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/rusted--broken-brake-lines-in-gm-pickups-demonstrate-the-twilight-zones-of-auto-safety-203750980.html you probably need to contact GM customer service to arrange it.
  13. I read GM has a discount to get the lines replaced, I think it is $500 vs normal $1100.
