5.3 engine rebuild or buy crate
scooby5121 replied to DCVegas's topic in 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500
Car-parts.com 1500-1800 dollars with 100kl or 60k miles. Engine from salvaged -
Transmission Tune, and Engine tune.... Like I did when I bought my truck new in 2008. Never regretted it and still never had a problem. Voids warranty but I hated how it drove off the line and transmission down shifting 3 gears when you got on the throttle. It now drives like a truck with no throttle delay whatsoever, and stays in the gear with good rpms, no bogging or gear surfing.

Check also the axel shaft themselves... if it is even the slightest bit worn where the seals rub time for new axels

scooby5121 replied to mortus1013's question in Ask the GM Technician

I do not remember ,but 05-06 disels may have a very bad injector problem running in the 6,000.00 price range. Check out other older forum on the years in this site to be exact on which years the duramax was bad. just want to save you an expensive repair . scooby -
