  1. 3,000 seems a little early since these engines hold almost twice as much oil as they did back in the day.
  2. I'm on my second of this series, 2015 and 2018 and have had no problems. Both have been smooth as silk. I had to set the mph alarm ( at 80) because I can't tell how fast I'm going. The transmission ( I only know about the 6 speed) is wonky until it "learns in". It takes a while too... about 3,500 miles for me. I like these trucks a lot.
  3. You must be listening to Dave Ramsey... "cash is king and debt is dumb". I understand dumping debt and payments. Do you need really need a truck? If not, cars are cheaper to own and operate. Sell or trade the truck now and buy a car for cash. Bank what your monthly payment was and you will be ahead in no time. A vehicle is a depreciating asset. There is no getting around that. Time is important... it will be worth less tomorrow.
  4. Don't buy used when you can get new for the same price or less. My 2018 LT Crew was $34,000.00 out the door... and that was in June. Deals are probably better now. It may be your last one... it should be new.
  5. Here is a "how to" for removing frozen bleeders': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C66C3_pqqz8
  6. It doesn't have anything to do with the cost of a vehicle. It doesn't cost any more to get panels on correctly. When I brought home a new Accord, many years ago, my dad looked it over and was amazed how good the gaps were. He worked in a GM plant for a while and paid attention to those things. Oh, and he never bought anything that wasn't GM... well he had one Ford car... and bad mouthed it for the rest of his life, LOL. I guess the bottom line is... that these are trucks, not luxury cars. I know, they are priced like luxury cars... (which I don't understand). Expecting luxury car fit and finish, based on how much they cost, is probably not fair.
  7. Look in my mirrors? Wow, why didn't I think of that? Maybe you don't tow much, or you just tow a big box or something, but I tow open utility trailers with heavy equipment that is tied down. It would be really nice to be able to turn the camera on and see how that equipment is riding back there. Mirrors are useless because I can't see over the tailgate. There is no reason that I can think of, other than a stupid law, that keeps the camera from being used when moving forward.
  8. Most of the damage done to my truck is my own fault. It's inevitable... I use it for hauling and towing stuff. So, it's not if but when. It happens. Don't sweat it. It can be repaired if it really bugs you.
  9. Congrats on the new truck!! My '18 just turned 1000 miles. Don't panic, but the truck won't feel right for the first 500 miles. It will feel sluggish (may even "chuggle") and will not shift smoothly. I don't know if the 500 mile break in period is programmed into the truck or not... but I swear at 501 miles the truck changed dramatically... that is, it felt normal (like my 2015 ). I follow the break-in procedure described in the owner's manual to the letter. Now, at 1000 miles, it runs really good, better than my '15. And the transmission seems to be a much faster learner. It took several thousand miles to settle down on my last truck.
  10. I say go for it! the deals are really good. I don't know about GMC, but my 2018 Silverado is perfect... just like the last three (2015,.2010,2009). Don't listen to the naysayer's here. These are great trucks.
  11. Return them and buy Weathertech's. They use existing holes and a very cleaver clamp. Easy install; no drilling.
  12. Where is the camera on demand feature? I want to see what the trailer/load is doing while under way.
  13. Me too! I love my truck! It is perfect; zero defects just like my last three (2009,2010,2015). I was surprised at the number of differences the 2018 has from my 2015, both are LT's and optioned the same way (All Star Package). I like all the changes except the capless fuel filler. Here are the changes that I have noticed (in no particular order): hood and grill is more sculpted, HID head lights, LED fog lights, headrest doesn't move fore and aft, locking tail gate, apple car play/ android auto, exhaust sounds different (lower tone, more aggressive). The six speed transmission seemed to learn faster... it was only sluggish feeling for the first 500 miles... maybe to encourage an easy break-in. It took several thousand miles for the 2015 (and 2010) to learn how to shift right. I was perfectly happy with my 2015, but the deal on the 2018 was too good to pass up. These are great trucks.
  14. A tempest in a teapot. I have had three trucks now with AFM. No issues. I could tell when the 2010 and 2015 switched in and out of 4 cyl mode, but I can't tell when the 2018 goes in/out of AFM mode at all. I still lock it out though out of habit. (Pull the shift lever down to M or L and select M5). In fact, I have had no issues with any of my new Chevy trucks. '09.'10,'15,'18 have all been zero defect vehicles. Buy new if you can. The deals are amazing on the 2018's.
  15. Seals are covered under the 5 year , 100,000 mile drive-train warranty.
