  1. Hey all, I am no stranger to doing maintenance at 54 years old. Replaced my plugs last year (2015) and although I didn't torque them I gave them the good old nice and snug tightening that has never failed for all of my years. Fast forward a ways and my truck developed the dreaded ticking that sounds like a lifter issue this past summer. It is using oil also (not related to spark plug change, just throwing that out there). I had convinced myself I had a lifter issue but while troubleshooting with a stethoscope I noticed a spark plug wiggling. WTF???? Found it really loose (no misfires though), tightened it up and was good to go. Winter came and would get a slight ticking at start up and again wrongly assumed a lifter problem. Finally decided to tackle it and thought why not? Checked the plugs first and found another slightly loose one. Re-checked all 8 and now she is purring like a kitten again with 146K on the odometer. I can't remember if I bought Bosch or NGK. Has anyone else had these issues? Did the parts house give me the wrong plugs? As far as the oil consumption, I have a Range Technology AFM Delete Module on the way to give it a try. If it happens again I am changing out the plugs once more and pulling out the ole Snap-On torque Wrench!
  2. Yes, it works when you press the heated mirror switch. I think the only thing different than when you have FACTORY rear defrost is that the emblem on the switch is different. Same switch.
  3. A lot of folks don't seem to see a reason for rear defrost but I sure do. It has aggravated me for 4 years that I have heated mirrors but can;t see out of my rear window at times. My truck stays outside and my mornings greet me with anything from condensation to snow and ice. Finally tore into it. I removed the rear seat and trim in my 2009 Sierra 1500 extended cab WT and found the Rear Defrost Power Connector tucked away in the harness in a rubber boot on the driver's side. Verified it put out 12V when I hit the defrost switch. Found that the passenger side was missing the ground pigtail. You can make one for pennies but I wanted it to look factory when done so I ordered the pigtail (p/n 15912210) and two rear defrost Tab Trim pieces (p/n 10375330). These parts are apparently dipped in 24k gold but like I said I wanted FACTORY. LOL After a small discount from my parts guy I was out the door for $54 and some change. Highway robbery but Factory. The new rear window (with defrost) was installed in my driveway by a glass company for $285 plus tax. ($307.66) There is a grounding stud on the passenger side that the pigtail connects to. Passenger side Defrost Tab with trim cover installed. Driver side identical but purple wire. DONE! Simple Mod, Factory look. Defrost works great! Not cheap but not too expensive either. If you have been wanting it, now you know it can be done.
  4. I believe but could be wrong that they advertise longer life than that. If the batteries were replaceable it wouldn't be a big deal but at $100+ dollars a pop each its an annoying recurring unneccessary expense! I'd prefer it if you could just disable the system without the annoying dash light.
  5. I have had 3 of 4 TPMS sensors fail in my 2009 Sierra in the past and now the 4th one has shot craps. All in less than 4 years! Junk, aggravating system!
