  1. Sadly this is an alarming issue,I hear everyone complain about varying levels of dealer support. I was getting ready to trade in my 2011 Sierra CC SLT but after reading this topic pretty extensively I know there is no way that I would receive any dealer support here in the NY Metro area where dealer service is downright criminal. I will keep my 2011 and feel that GM really dropped the ball on this and it cost them a sale.
  2. After trying to isolate this leak myself I called a company called "Water Doctors". The rep Dustin was able to get to my workplace to take a look at the truck. When he got there he immediately took the drivers side kick panel/hood release panel off and looked there. He explained that there is a seem there that is not properly sealed from the factory and that he has encountered this issue not often but enough to know where to look. Also he explained that the A Pillar has a cover on the bottom that if not properly sealed can be an issue more so if the truck is parked on an incline like mine. He was confident that he repaired my leak issues and asked for a call back to tell him all was ok. It's raining now so keeping my fingers crossed.
  3. Here is what I did today, took the wiper arms, antenna and cowl off.checked the metal cover under the cowl and the fresh air intake for the cabin and everything looked normal. Put the garden hose in the cowl and let it run...nothing inside in the way of leaks, put the hose in the air intake and was able to get water in the passenger side floor area. Mind you this is not a real world way cause I know the ac drain is clean it's just with the hose the heater box can't handle the volume of water. Next I taped the garden hose next to the drivers side front door and let it run...nothing. Taped the hose to the middle of the roof so the water would run down the windshield and into the cowl and still no water in the cab. Gonna try the l/side rear door area and see if it's running in there and towards the front of the cab.
  4. The only area that is wet is the driver area floor. I checked the entire floor/carpet of the truck and everything is dry except for the driver area floor. The rubber mat collects water, the carpet was soaked and the insulation/jute is soaked. That stuff takes a long time to dry. After trolling the internet the most logical explanation is under the cowl cover is the fresh air intake and there is a non permanent metal cover there that has a foam seal, that area leads right to the driver area floor if the seal there is compromised. I have not witnessed this myself but this is what I read off the 'net. I am going to take the cowl off and seal that area. I experienced a similar problem/fix on my old 95 Buick LeSabre and am hoping this does the trick. Hopefully one night this week I can do it,if not then it's gonna be a Sunday job.
  5. I have a 2011 Sierra CC SLT, had the truck parked in my driveway nosed in. Driveway has a pretty steep incline, when I got in the truck after 2 days of pretty heavy rain here in Brooklyn,NY the drivers carpet and under carpet insulation was soaking wet. Checked all the carpet in the truck and it's confined to the drivers area. Has anyone encountered this on their 2007 and later NBS full size truck? Happy with the truck but this leak has me really bummed. Checked the AC drain on the r/side by the ac dryer and it seems clear.
  6. Actually the trucks have 2 steering related noises,my 2001 Silverado had the groan that you mention and it was pump/box/fluid related...It never leaked a drop so I learned to live with it...it wasn't a bind just a noise when making a turn moreso when you were parking. I drove my friends 2003 Express van and his truck had the same exact groan. Also the trucks had a knocking noise in the steering column shaft, there was a service bulletin fix on it which contained an epoxy for the steering column shaft,I did the fix on my truck and it cured the noise. Unfortunately I no longer have my 2001 Silverado as it was totaled by an a-hole Brooklyn driver I have a 2011 Sierra which is a great truck. Good Luck, hope this helps
