Change Fluid.. Or Leave Alone?
dcheeseman replied to GMC-AT's topic in 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500
I'd do a pan drop, replace the filter, clean the pan out well as well as the magnet. Use a high mileage dexron 3 transmission fluid (Example: Valvoline Maxlife). Daniel -

95 Chevy 1500 4x4 NO CRANK, NO START
dcheeseman replied to tim-12's topic in 1988-1999 Chevrolet & GMC C/K GMT400 Platform
Your welcome, while there might have them do an alternator test too, just to make sure it's sending 13.6VDC to 15.5VDC back to the battery. Daniel -

While at the Auto Parts store I would have had them do a load test on your battery. Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone can do this. Based on what you've stated, to me it sounds like a weak battery under load, or bad connection on battery to starter (check connections/clean the battery connection). You've stated you have your dash lights, this indicates your ignition switch is ok. (My ignition switch went bad on my 1995 Silverado, however when I turn the key to run...nothing or no lights.) Hope this gives you a little more insight. Daniel -
Extremely high idle

2001 should have a cable for the throttle, check and see if its not too tight and holding the butterfly valve open slightly. Daniel -
Tow/ Haul mode VS normal D
dcheeseman replied to tripleb's topic in 2015-2019 Silverado & Sierra HD Troubleshooting
I personal use the manual shifting the gears myself when towing a trailer. I like having the control over it myself. For flat roads and interstate driving I'd use "D" For hilly roads and city driving I'd use Tow/Haul mode. The whole purpose of the Tow/Haul mode as you probably know is to raise the shift points to get the truck in a better power range. Also downshift sooner to help slow down the truck. Either way you should be fine as your truck was designed to operate in either mode. Daniel -
2014 Silverado Shutting off.
dcheeseman replied to Stanley_USMC's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
Wow...JUST WOW!!!! So sorry this has happened and hope it gets fixed! Must be a loose ground wire or loose connector somewhere. This is crazy, I'd be very upset too! Keep trying different dealerships. Daniel -

Keep us updated with pictures please....looks great!!!! Daniel -
I'd first check my battery voltage after sitting all night. If good battery is probably fine. If it does it again, my guess would be a loose connection or a electronic issue. I don't think its a security issue because you still should have had your dome lights on. Hopefully it was just a fluke. Daniel

In Kentucky we had to sit through a class, watch video's, multiple choice test and than go to the firing range. The sheriff in my small town taught the class. He sent our info to the state, after about a month and half our certificate came in the mail. The sheriff's office has your pictured license card. Take the certificate to them pay a fee and they give you your license. In my opinion every state should require a class, some people can not safely handle a firearm and therefore need to be shown proper handling. I would hate to hear someone lost there life because someone CCDW didn't handle their weapon properly and kill someone by accident. I love hearing when someone get's their CCDW, we need more good law abiding citizens carrying firearms. Of course if a person does not want to carry a firearm that is your right as a law abiding American citizen. Daniel

Do You Wait For The Oil Change Reminder In Your GM?
dcheeseman replied to Gorehamj's topic in The Garage Archive
I change my 2010 GMC Sierra with a 5.3L/325ci around 3,000 miles. I run 10w-30 Mobil 1, AcDelco PF63 and Lucas Pure Synthetic.
