Nope, my buddy who is a tech at the dealer i go to. He had a brand new Suburban in the bay next to him with under 1,000 miles with a 6.2, the number two rod was burned up. He said they see a handful a month, mostly low miles, under 5,000 miles with the same problem. -

I can't find one with max tow package. I do searches about once a week still, maybe 4 or 5 pop up in 300 miles, and they are white, or not half the other options i want. -

So, i ordered a 2024 RST December 29th, 2023. Ordered it with the 6.2, max tow package, Glacier Blue, all stuff i wanted. Checked in with my dealer this week, no progress since it was submitted. he told me the 6.2 is on constraint. What does that exactly mean? Limited number of 6.2's being pushed out, no one gets a 6.2... I mean, they are still pushing Escalades out the door, assuming they all aren't getting the diesel motor. I know of the problems with the 6.2 and rod bearings. I would hope they would have fixed that by now. -

Thanks for the write-up! I placed an order for a 2024 RST Crew cab with Bose back in December, my order hasn't even been accepted yet, but here i am looking to add to the system before i receive it. Well done... and, well played.- 11 replies

2012 Silverado Crew Cab, rear seat

Ok, i was able to stick my head under there the other night. Sure enough, found a couple of pieces of plastic i am assuming go somewhere else. If i get a weekend when its not raining or going out of town i might try and pull the seat out. Thanks! -
So, the last few months i have noticed a squeak coming from the rear seat. Happens no matter if someone is riding back there or not. I have narrowed it down to the seat back. It is slightly loose, i can move it a couple of inches. I don't see a way to release it completely so i can see what the hell is going on though. Anyone had this happen? Truck has 241,000 miles, i get that stuff breaks. Just look at the 12 cracks in my front dash..

I ordered a 2024 Silverado RST, 6.2, Glacier Blue, Max tow package, black leather interior, sunroof, etc on December 30, 2024. First of February i get a call from my salesman, says GM has denied the order based on color. Glacier Blue not offered. Ok, i change to Radiant Red Tintcoat, that was my favorite until Glacier Blue came out. I called last night just to get a status update, says the order is still sitting in preliminary. So, i guess i'll wait longer. My dad ordered his C10 in 1964, took him 6 weeks to get his. Mine, i guess a little longer.

That was a big reason in my ordering from them. I have a buddy that is a tech there, i always take my truck to him. Does a great job, and has helped me out a ton. When i started looking a trucks a year ago, the salesman i ordered from was the ONLY one that i talked to that followed up with me. And kept following up every couple of months, not pushy just hey, wanted to touch base, see if you were still in the market type of thing. A few months ago, he was in the hospital for some pretty major medical issues. He just came back 3 weeks ago, so i set an appointment with him and did all the ordering. Super nice guy, not pushy, not overbearing.

Covers powertrain, including transmission, gaskets, everything inside the engine, electronics. Basically, everything in the truck. You have to provide records of maintenance being done at the required intervals. But not necessarily their dealer. But, my buddy works there so i always request him anyway.

I've been looking for a new truck to replace my aging 2012 Silverado Crew cab. I tow a 26 foot TT and was looking for an RST or LTZ with max tow package. Couldn't find much at all with 3-400 miles of east Tennessee. Saturday, went down and placed an order for a 2024 RST Glacier Blue, 6.2, Max Tow package. No constraints on any of the options. Dealer said they usually have 2-3 month turnaround for orders. This dealer gives a lifetime warranty on everything they sell. I don't even have to have it serviced with them, as long as keep up documentation of everything serviced. Back in the day, my dad ordered a 1964 C10 pickup, black, with a handful of options (Automatic, moulding package of some kind, V8). My brother found the original order from the dealer in Tampa. Once i get mine, i'll try and get both his and mine framed, and a picture of it. Dad passed away 3 years ago, but he definitely passed along his love and interest in cars to me and my brother. Pretty excited. I'll miss my current truck, 237,000 miles and has never left on the side of the road.

I have abandoned all hope of find a Silverado RST with max tow package near me and have finally resolved myself to ordering one. Anyone know off the top of their head how the strike may affect new orders? Assuming as long as their is a strike, no new trucks... sad face. When my brother and i moved our parents into ALF's, we had to clean out the house. My brother hit the jackpot box that contained my dads orders of cars he bought. He found the order form for his 1961 Impala 2 door Bubbletop and his 1963 C10. I think it might be kinda neat to piece that one together and frame it, put next to my order for my Silverado.

Blue Exhaust Smoke
Badbird2000 replied to BigballR's topic in Gen III and IV Small Block & Drivetrain
What year is your truck? What engine? How many miles? I had a 1979 Olds Cutlass back as my first car, it was equipped with a 305 small block. Did the same thing at first start up, blue smoke that cleared up after about a minute. My issue was the valve seals were worn. Car had 155,000 miles.
