  1. Just got the new pistons/rings/deflector shield done on the weekend. Also had a transmission flush done at the same time. Since getting it back runs smooth for the most part. However, it no longer idles smoothly. It drops from 500rpm to 450 and then back to 500rpm over and over when idling in park or in drive. I can feel and hear a small "kick" or "buck" when it happens. It never used to to this so I am a little concerned. Any ideas what it could be? Or is this normal with new Pistons?
  2. My Truck is burning 2L of oil every 5000kms up here in Canada and I've been told by 2 dealerships that anything less than 1L/1000kms will not be addressed by GM and will be considered "normal". Do they realize that if that little nugget of info were to get out into the mainstream their sales would go down by 50%? "Buy our vehicles, topping up your oil twice between 5000km interval oil changes is "normal"." Geez, such a disappointment. Anyone else getting the same runaround?
  3. Oil Consumption test ongoing. Switched dealerships because the first one I tried was a bunch of smart-ass hacks who were awesome at making me feel stupid, but terrible at doing anything helpful. The dealership I'm working with now is being more than helpful, they've admitted they know about the consumption issues and are going through the steps they need to go through to verify it. Warranty is up in January so I'm really hoping this is a success and I can get my motor fixed. 1000 kms since oil change and I'm low 1 quart. (Almost 500 of those kms were in 4 cyl mode)
  4. 07 5.3 AFM Alum. Block, using 2quarts per 5000 km. Consumption test done, dealer told me it's "normal" so I've written them off as morons. I should add though that it only consumes oil when in 4cyl mode for extended periods of time. When I make a 1000km trip on the highway I can go through 3/4 of a quart. If I drive only in the city for 5000km It doesn't consume very much at all. Definatly AFM related.
