  1. I have the L5Y 5.3L AFM with 225,000km (140,000mi) and have just started burning oil at the rate of 1 L per 15,000km (10,000mi). I tow a 7500lb trailer 40% of the time. I know the main seal "seeps" due to seeing a thin film on the flywheel access plate. I use Pennzoil 5W30 High Milage. I am quite happy with this arrangement
  2. I have the problem of my brake switch sticking on. Noticed it when the cruise wont go on because it is sensing a brake signal, and then, even worse, that after stopping with my brake controller and my trailer it stays on and activates my brakes on the trailer as I drive. I guess I'm of fto the GM dealer this week with my $20 for the part. It looks like a simple bolt on/off affair with the normal wiring harness attachment. Do you guys remember when it was just a single pin open circuit button with a body ground and 1 wire? what happened to those days of automobiles?
  3. The actuators will not fail all at once, they will work some times and others half work and others not at all. Easy DIY fix, takes about 30min actuator costs $140 in US $200 here in Canada. my 09 crew pass side failed. when you get the replacement it will be a different number than the original (product improvement i hope) they are door specific so you will need the particular one for each lock. problem is when you lube the lock you are spraying right into where the actuator electrics are, the lube eventually makes the mechanism work harder then it fails. 6months mine in now and no issues with the replacement
  4. 2009 GMC Sierra Crew SLE 2WD. 5.3L Iron Block AFM 180,000 km (112,000 mi). Just had to put in 1L after 9800km (6100mi) 48% of oil use before change by the DIC. I guess that should be normal for time on engine. Towing around 60,000km (37,000 mi) of that total. I have a seep at the main bearing as well. I guess ill come off the Mobile 1 and head to high mileage oils and see if it improves.
  5. Just replaced the pass rear door lock module on my 2009. Total time 25min. Home tools. Module at dealer here in Canada $225.00 in US $119.00 (guess where I bought it) If you want the details how to replace just let me know. As for the part numbers, GM's listings from the original have changed (i guess they changed the design of the part).
