General Motors Company today announced its first quarter 2010 results, marked by revenue of $31.5 billion and operating income of $1.2 billion. Net income attributable to common stockholders was $0.9 billion, resulting in earnings per share on a diluted basis of $1.66.

NASA will launch the first human-like robot to space later this year to become a permanent resident of the International Space Station. Robonaut 2, or R2, was developed jointly by NASA and General Motors under a cooperative agreement to develop a robotic assistant that can work alongside humans, whether they be astronauts in space or workers at GM manufacturing plants on Earth.

The short answer is no. Whitacre has self-admittedly stated he’s not a car guy. What Whitacre does know is mergers and acquisitions. Aside from figuring out how to deal with Saab, it doesn’t look like GM really needs to be buying up companies. Ed is a numbers guy and if that makes you a bit nervous, it probably should. GM’s other “numbers guy” was Rick Wagoner.
