The 2022 GMC HUMMER EV will be a big launch for General Motors. Both figuratively and physically. GM-Trucks.com has learned the company’s very first all-electric truck will tip the scales at 9,046 lbs.
If that sounds like a lot of weight, you’re right. It’s a simply crazy curb weight for a pickup truck, let alone a “light duty” pickup. For reference, a 2022 GMC Sierra 3500HD with a crew cab, dual rear wheels, and the LP5 Duramax Diesel only tips the scales at 8355lbs. Yes, you read that right. The HUMMER EV will weigh more than a heavy-duty dually pickup.
We can only assume this is because the truck’s Ultium Battery system is heavy. Super heavy. In fact, we kind of got an idea this would be the case when the Cadillac LYRIQ was announced a few weeks ago. The LYRIQ will weigh over 5,600lbs with half as many Ultium Battery Modules as the HUMMER EV will carry.
