Wearing your seatbelt has always been a really good idea if you value your safety while driving your truck. But, starting for 2022, buckling your belt is mandatory- or else the 2022 Silverado and Sierra will not let you shift out of park.
As reported on GM Techlink website, the feature, called Buckle To Drive or Buckle To Shift, is scheduled to be implemented into the redesigned 2022 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra along with more vehicles.
The feature debuted in 2019 as a part of the Chevrolet Traverse and “Teen Driver Mode” but is being expanded to other vehicles and even made standard for all drivers in all situations.
