So I've been battling some pretty bad electrical issues for about six months in my 2018 Silverado 2500 duramax. First happened one night at work where it started then immediately showed service power steering. Service stabilitrak. Service trailer brake controller. Also noticed that I didn't have a gear shift indicator. Nor where my rpm or speedometer gauge working. I moved the truck a little bit and also realized the transmission wasn't working properly and shifting funny. Turned the truck off and tried to turn it back on and all the same service lights came on but this time it wouldn't even crank. Ended up disconnecting battery cables for a while. Then it started and ran fine a few days. I took it to a shop. They couldn't find an immediate problem so put die electric grease on connections and sent me on my way. Well I didn't see the problem again for a couple months. But then it all happened again. Same service lights. Check engine light. And bad shifting. Got it home and pulled the codes on it. U0073 u0100. Sent it to the dealer in town beginning of November. They looked at it and said there was a code in it for the bcm so they decided the bcm was faulty and replaced that. Then told me my truck was fine. I took the truck to our local Walmart 5 mins away went shopping and came back out and got the service power steering service stabilitrak. Service trailer brake controller. And two new ones. Reverse cameravnot working. And service 4wd. I drove back to the dealer. And by the time I got there the lights went away and it was back to shifting fine. They said they couldn't see anything wrong with it. Though it showed the check engine light again. I left it with them for a week. They drove it multiple times that week and couldn't get it to act up so I went and picked it up. I Read about a g218 ground and was hopeful that was my culprit. Pulled my dash apart to check to see if there was sound proofing between the ground nut and the metal and there wasn't so it all looked good. So unfortunately that wasn't it. We'll got home and hooked my scanner up and saw the codes u0102 u0121 U0140 b127e. While running the scanner on the truck running it went to all the service lights again. And wouldn't connect with the code reader at all anymore. Then I turned truck off. And couldn't get it to turn back on. Tried unhooking batteries. Waited a couple days. Still no luck. Ended up towing it to a shop beginning of December. We'll they started trying to diagnose it. Went by unhooking things and hooking them back in. The guy got to the turbo unhooked it and hooked it back in and got the truck where it was running fine. They called me and told me this and I said I wanted them to keep looking because obviously something is wrong making this keep happening intermittently. Well for the past two weeks they've been trying to get it to act up to diagnose it further. Which it's acted up for them. But not consistently to trouble shoot it. It's so very intermittent. So now I've just been very upset with my truck situation and starting to wonder if anyone will ever figure it out. Or if I bought a lemon. Both batteries on the truck at new as of may. And both test good.

I have a 2015 GMC 2500HD Denali. My wife bought last year. From the 2 day I’ve had nothing but problems even tried unsuccessfully to return it to the dealer. As of now I’m at my wits end. DTC light came on p0010, was told by the dealer try using “sea foam”. Didn’t work. To make a long story a little shorter, have replaced ; exhaust, 02 sensors, cam shaft & crank shaft sensors, wiring harness, vvt magnet, vvt Solenoid and actuator. To top it off the oil pressure fluctuates from 10 to 50lbs with the right amount of oil. Have been unable to register because of not being able to pass inspection. PLEASE HELP the gmc dealer I just took it to said “just replace the motor”! Like I have $14,000 in my pocket!!!

Hello all. It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a forum. I don’t do social media anymore so hopefully there’s still a few people lurking around the forums to help a guy out. I usually have diesel trucks, and still have 2 6.0 powerstrokes on the farm, but sold my nice truck a year ago and have been waiting for the right deal on something ever since. As everyone knows used truck prices are completely insane so I haven’t seen too many deals out there on newer diesel trucks. I’ve pretty much decided to hold off on that for a few years and look for a little bit older gas truck just to pull my smaller 5th wheel camper that is roughly 32’ and 9500lbs loaded up. Gas trucks are also stupid expensive so I’m looking at higher mileage trucks because those are the only semi decent deals out there. I’ve got 2 I’m looking at, a 2015 Silverado 2500hd LT z71 with 212,000 miles for $19,000, and a 2015 Sierra 2500hd slt 4x4 with 190,000 miles for $22,000. Both trucks are lower optioned 4x4 6.0 trucks but the Chevy being a z71 has a few more options to it. And the Chevy could probably be had cheaper than 19,000 but the gmc owner is firm at 22,000. To me these should be $10-15,000 trucks but they still book for around $30,000. Is it even worth considering these trucks for this kind of money? I know the 6.0s are pretty reliable but how are the trucks going to be at 200,000? Anything specific to watch out for on these? I will only put 5000 a year on it mostly towing the trailer to Yellowstone and back multiple times a year, around 400 miles round trip. Furthest I’d take it is to the black hills of South Dakota. Roughly 2000 miles round trip by the time we drive around the black hills. Would it be silly to trust a 200,000 mile gasser to reliably do these trips for me? I have a 2020 Silverado 1500 for work that is my daily so the 2500 will be weekends and camping mostly. Though I’m not brand loyal and have owned all three, I usually end up with fords and have never owned a 6.0 Chevy but when I think of a reliable gas truck, a 6.0 Chevy is what comes to mind so any insight or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It still runs but you have to feather the throttle to get it up to speed. It also goes into a reduced power mode. I have read that there may be some wiring issues to the lift pump. It seams that the lift pump is making a strange noise during the initial key on 30 second run time. I have also read up on the lift pump but it is some kind of 3 phase variable speed pump that I am not familiar with. Any info will be appreciated. My truck has 20K miles on it. and has not given me any issues up to now. No mods have been done to it.

I have 116,000 miles on my 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500 Dually with the Allison 1000. I am having issues with my 3rd or 4 gear is what is feels like. When I am driving in drive mode about 3rd or 4th gear my truck will have a delayed shift that takes longer than usual but what I am finding strange is that when I am in manual mode it will shift normally. The other issue it’s having is that when I accelerate at at a fast rate the truck will delay the shift and I will get a vibration coming from the truck. When I bought the truck with 86k I told the dealer ship to preform the 100k service for the transmission and that included the internal and external filters along with new fluid. With that being said I have checked the fluid and I do not have any burnt smell and discoloration in the fluid. Has anyone else had a similar issue and what was the solution.

Also noticed that none of my mirror lights work. I'm wondering if this an issue I could fix myself easily? Led backup lights also wont turn on even when I turn on bed light and put in reverse. I hope warranty doesn't give me trouble. I did not have a problem the first time with warranty. But with this "Service Emissions System:. Along with lights not working in mirrors. And to top it off I must have some sort of short where license plate bulbs are at. Plate lights wont stay on even with new bulbs.

Hey yall! New member here, sorry for creating a thread so early on, but my warranty expiration is creeping up on me fast and I need to get this sorted- so here's my issue.

I have a 2015 2500HD with the 6.0 and about 95,000mi, and for the past 6 months, I've been having this issue where It'd start pulling timing ( up to 15 degrees of KR) under moderate to heavy throttle, as soon as it hits 3000RPM. There is no audible knock, but 15 degrees of KR sounds very excessive. Higher octane fuel makes the issue better, and usually after long interstate drives (no heatsoak), it runs great, but generally, it's very bad. Towing a 32FT trailer full of band equipment up a mild hill, it struggles to get out of first gear, and slams into the next gear because the timing is so far retarded before the shift, that it screws with the shift timing. I have used various fuel system cleaners ( now trying Amsoil Pi, as I know its well proven ) but so far, none have made any difference. I want to check the fuel pressure, but I don't see a test port, and I can't get any OBD app to display fuel pressure.

Here's what confuses me: Sometimes, under the same conditions, It'll run just fine and pull hard straight through 3000 RPM. The only thing I can find different between the times that it runs like a POS and times that it runs like its brand new, is that when it's running like crap, it shudders at idle- enough to be felt throughout the entire truck.

It pulls the most timing at around 3000, and tapers down as the revs increase.

I got it used, with about 76,000mi, so I'm not clear about its past. Back when it was running horribly I was considering that It might have been tuned by the previous owner, but lately, its been randomly running just fine.

Its been fine for the past week or so, but I'm still very curious about what could be going on.

I have TorquePRO recordings of the issue happening, which I may upload later if that would be of any help. I've been hoping for a CEL but of course- no pending or stored codes!

Thank you all! Sorry for the length of the post!

I own a 2015 Silverado 3500 HD with the dual fuel CNG option. it appears GM has stopped making parts for the CNG side of the truck. I have been fighting with GM for 18 months trying to get my truck fixed, haven't been able to switch to CNG for that time. They have told me several times they are done trying to fix my truck, but I have been pretty persistent, and they are still looking for the part. If you're wondering they are supposed to provide parts for all their products for 10 years but have made the decision apparently to violate that on this model. If you own one of these trucks, I'd be interested in your experiences with it. Truck was fine until it needed repairs.

I've noticed lately that when filling the truck's diesel tank the fuel gauge will stick for awhile and then suddenly jump up to catch up. Today, when the nozzle clicked off to indicate the tank was full, the indication still showed 1/8 tank to go. I went ahead and paid and left and as I drove the needle finally worked its way to the full indication. First time it really stuck and took awhile to finally indicate.

This is on my 2016 GMC 2500HD Sierra Denali 4x4. Diesel, as mentioned. The fuel gauge is one of those graphics generated gauges, not a mechanical one on the dash.
Anyway, any thoughts on this? It used to go up so smoothly now it seems the sticking is getting worse over the last year or less.

Is there something I can add to the fuel tank that might help clean the sensor and get that indication back to smooth flowing again?

	Thanks for any help.

I purchased a 2017 GMC 2500 HD Denali Duramax on May 21, 2017. I have driven it less than 8000 miles and have had it in the dealership 4 separate times because the check engine light came on.

They did “burn downs”, tightened a cold air pipe to the engine, and reprogramming the computer.

After driving more that 250 miles to and from the GM dealership and spending numerous days of my time dealing with this issue, I spoke with the dealership owner. He shared the following information:

After speaking with his GM regional representative, he was told that “GM programmed computers on 2017 GMC trucks equipped with the Duramax engine to detect any DEF that didn’t meet the exact same quality specifications as GM DEF”.

More plainly stated, GM is essentially forcing 2017 Duramax owners to buy GM DEF or there is a real chance the check engine light will come on and the vehicle could eventually go into shutdown mode.

This would clearly pose a problem for everyone that buys DEF from anyone other that GM. I have a motor coach that requires DEF. Farmers and other businesses that own 2017 Duramax equipped trucks, and have other vehicles requiring DEF would also be severely impacted. We buy and store DEF from third party sellers, because it is more convenient and much cheaper than buying DEF from GM.

NOTE: A service bulletin has just been released that requires owners to bring their vehicles in to have the computers reprogrammed. This is supposed to reduce the sensitivity related to DEF quality. I had this done to my truck and will do a follow-up post after I add NON GM DEF to my truck.

Is anyone having trouble with DEF heater going out and Engine light coming on. Several friends have 2015 2500 Duramax and heaters going out. I called dealer yesterday (11/10/17) And new e-mail out saying GM is revising warrantee on this part for 12 years or 120,000 miles. So GM has noticed that there are problems out there with the DEF heater.

Ok, I have looked for quite some time and have failed to come up with any company that makes long tube headers for my 2017 2500hd 6.0l. Can any one of you lead me in the direction of this product? I was really hoping that Kook made them, but only for the 1500.

Has anyone used one of there cams in a newer 6.0? If so what one did you use. Did you have to remove the heads to get the cam out? What else needs changed or added. I know a cam phaser will be needed. Will the lifters need changed. I don't think they do bc the engine does NOT have AFM.
