I have a 2016 GMC Yukon Denali and I am having a really strange issue. I would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks!

Whenever it is in park and I press the brake, I get the following warnings.

	-Service: Suspension System

	-Sevice: Trailer Brake System

-Action Required: Steering Assist is Reduced Drive with Care

-Indicator Light for ABS, BRAKE and Traction Control

When I RELEASE the brake All warnings and problem indicator lights disappear and I get a "Service Traction Control" warning for a second and then that clears as well. As long as I am in gear I do not get any error indications even when the brake is pressed.

The cruise control doesn't work, but I believe that is the control switch assembly and a separate issue, but I wanted to mention it just in case there could be a correlation. In the case of the cruise, it is always "On" (white cruise indicator on the panel) but it will not allow me to "set".

Thank you in advance for your help!

I have a leak coming from the headliner down to the seatbelt and floor of the second row passenger side. I lowered the headliner a bit when it was raining to see if I could locate the leak and it seems like it was coming from the sunroof. The only part that gets wet is on the pillar behind the rear passenger door the headliner part and seatbelt and floor in that area. Would I need to remove the entire headliner to clean the drains? Or is there maybe a different reason it’s leaking into the cab?

 Good morning,

I'm having some strange issues with my 2015 XL SLT that I'm trying to see if anyone else has experienced. The issue that I'm experiencing is both an intermittent right headlight failure warning and an intermittent windshield wiper failure (inoperable).

I would like to start with the headlight issue: when the warning light comes on, the interior signal indicator blinks fast, however, when you go outside both lights in the front and rear are operating as normal. This problem seemingly only occurs below 32 degrees Fahrenheit and when driving in the snow/ice. The warning light will go out and be fine for days and even weeks and then come back. This originally led me to believe that there was an issue in the wiring because when this happened it also affected the mirror turn signal.

Secondly, about a week or so after this started, I got into my vehicle and my windshield wipers wouldn't work. I took it to a trusted family mechanic, as I didn't have time to fiddle with it, and he changed the windshield wiper assembly. We came to that conclusion after the mechanic hooked up his computer to override the turn signal and wiper control stalk and he also couldn't operate the wipers. We were both under the impression that this was the issue. I got back into the vehicle following the assembly replacement and the wipers didn't work. We checked the part and the dealership we purchased it from and it was not the assembly. I ended up needed to drive the truck and upon driving it the wipers started working again but went back out again This issue ALSO only happens when the temperatures drop below 25 degrees Fahrenheit it seems.

This is where I'm at now and why I'm hoping for some advice/second opinion. The mechanic believes that my fuse box is faulty, however, when we took the fuse box out there is no corrosion. We looked up the wiring schematics and it turns out that GM unfortunately hard wired the wiper relay into the board that's on the fuse box and they are known to go bad but there's no way to really see if it is bad. The only solution is to replace the fuse box itself but the part new is $500 and once the box is opened (if it turns out to not be the fuse box) the parts store/dealership will not let us return it.

Has anyone else had this issue before? Are we looking in the right spot? I apologize for the lengthy post but if I don't have to spend $500 on this fuse box I really don't want to. Used was also not an option due to not being able to find a tested unit and additionally when finding a tested unit it was also not able to be returned. Thank you for reading this and for any advice that can be provided.

TLDR; intermittent wiper and right turn signal inoperability issue. Mechanic believes issue is $500 fuse box but we can't prove it. Wanting second opinion from masses.

Hey folks, I will include an imgur link at the bottom for the video with sound since i cant figure out where to attach it. I've got a 2020 Suburban Premier with 100k miles thats making an awful roaring noise that sounds like mud tires. I replaced my tires with Michelin Defenders today and it made 0% difference in the sound.

It is so loud now that we actually have to speak up quite a bit just to talk in the car. I thought maybe its a wheel bearing but no amount of swerving or rocking the wheels while its jacked up gives me any indication of a bearing failure, but its quite possible. Im thinking either rear bearing or differential. But letting off the gas makes bo difference.

It sounds like its coming from everywhere inside the car but if I had to pick a corner, I would say right rear. Let me know what you think or if you've had this problem. Thanks!

I’ve been documenting everything so here goes. Hoping you guys have some experience and can shed some light.

	Nov 12th

2016 Yukon XL Denali owner here. About 65k miles on it now. Originally leased then financed it and also purchased the extended warranty back in 2020. Had roughly 50k miles on it then. Riding fine.

Once I hit around 60k I noticed it starting to ride rough. Almost jerking out of my seat. Also when I go over a speed bump a notice the rear kinda sways back and forth.

Take it into GMC and they replace the fronts under warranty. I asked about the rears but they told me that they were fine and they typically don’t have an issue with the rears unless you are doing heavy lifting.

They also replaced both TVs and a hose covered under warranty.

I got it back after a week on Tuesday. I was expecting to be riding on a cloud but to be honest, I can hardly tell that new shocks were installed. It’s still rough. And I took it over a few speed bumps. Same issue with the swaying back and forth. I thought I would perhaps give it a few days but I’m truly disappointed.

	Nov 30th

Well apparently there’s nothing wrong with it. I took it back to the dealership and the service guy just called. Said he and the tech just took it out for a spin and it drives “fine”. Rear shocks are in good condition according to them. They say it’s a truck and drives that way.

I ****** you not. It’s never driven like this before. Bumpy as hell and sways back and forth when you go over a speed bump. I’m going down there now to take a ride with them

	Dec 1st

	*** Update****

So the Service rep and tech were adamant that my truck rides “fine”. I went down there yesterday and they had me take a test drive with the tech. I went over the same speed bumps they did. Mind you they are tiny speed bumps in a parking lot.

First one I went over. Fronts go over fine, rears I drive over slow and as soon as it comes down it rocks back and forth. Look over at the tech -“ did you feel that?” He says “hmmmm kinda “

Next speed bump I go a normal slow speed over it. Rocks even more ! “I know you felt that ! “ he says “ yep definitely”

“Now take me to the road you drove it on, I need to get it up to at least 40-50”

Takes me to a mildly rough road. Truck is jerking, throwing us around “

He finally agrees that it drives like ******.

Now he tells me that the only issue is that the GMC inspector might not sign off on the work. He’s going to double check everything suspension related, put the order in to replace the rears but if the inspector doesn’t see a failed part then he probably won’t sign off on it.....

I’m beginning to think that there is a known issue that GMC isn’t admitting to.

	The saga continues ...

	Today Dec 2nd

	***Update***

GMC Dealership is installing new rear shocks today even though they can’t find anything wrong with the existing rears. Should get it back today! Crossing my fingers but not holding my breathe.

Good Morning all, bear with me for a moment as I describe the journey here....

2017 Yukon Denali, 6.2L. So I had a collapsed lifter, which bent a pushrod. I went with a Texas speed replacement set. I tore everything down, there was no scarring or damage to anything that I could see when doing so, just the bent rod.

Anyway, everything was torn down to the block. Lifters replaced, new cam, new oil pump to be safe (parts list attached). There was no visible metal but I wanted to be sure. I also had it tuned because of the DOD delete, etc.

Everything fires up great, it starts and drives. After 5-10 minutes of running and driving, it's almost like the oil pressure starts to drop (it does seem to be low, but it is a 6.2) then suddenly the engine shuts off and cannot be started until you wait about 24 hours or so for it to cool down I guess. It's like it is too hard to turn over. But if you wait, it fires right up like nothing happened.

The only other symptom I can describe is that it almost feels as if the torque converter has too high of a stall, and is killing it that way. So....I replaced that too just in case. Prior to the engine issues there was some slight skipping/slipping on the transmission as this year has. So I figured why not.

I'm a bit at a loss, I figure something I did when replacing the cam and lifters caused it because it ran fine before doing everything. I'm just hoping someone smarter than me can help me diagnose what I messed up! The truck has 54k miles on it but is like a paperweight for now.

Let me know if more information is needed or there are more questions!

My wife's 2020 Tahoe has started a slow cranking when starting the truck. It has an Optima Yellow top that was checked at two different stores and the battery is good, the alternator checked out fine, and the starter checked out fine as well. However it is a slow startup that it used to not do. Has anyone else heard of this?? I'm almost about to just replace the starter and see if that works

	2015 GMC Yukon XLT

It used to ride like a caddy! Now, at 145,000 miles, more like a log truck on rough roads. I can feel every defect in the road. I found that the front shocks were leaking so I replaced them with OEM. (They are not magnaride or anything special, just plan shocks) Didn't notice any bump 'rebound' even before changing the shocks and none now either. My question revolves around the bump 'jounce'(?) that is housed within the strut. To me, it looked a bit smashed. Do they normally look like that? Does the vehicle actually set on those while going down the road or just when you bottom out? Out on a smooth highway, everything is good. But, hit a road that maybe has some wear and tear on it and you feel it in the seat and steering wheel as well. I was kidding my wife about hitting some train crossings a bit 'hot' for my taste and I can't help but wonder if that somehow affected the ride. Any suggestions/ideas appreciated!

	Thanks!

I bought a 2019 Tahoe with 37,000 miles from a car rental company. During a 1300 trip, the suspension went from just fine to rough as a log truck. Like all four shocks had been replaced with a solid bar.

Long story short, I took it to a dealer, which I seldom do. They diagnosed only the left rear shock was bad. They replaced it and all the others started working right. The reason I'm posting this is nothing I found on the internet mentioned this solution for the problem I had. Now if somebody else has this problem, hopefully they will find this post.

I was ready to remove all the magnaride shocks and struts, then install an after market kit doing away with it all. For now at least, I'm glad I didn't. If another one goes bad next month, I may feel differently.

I wish I knew how the dealer tech diagnosed the one shock bad. The vehicle was stiff on all four corners.

I have a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali @ 36k miles. It was Magnetic Ride Control. About 6 months ago dealer indicated my right front strut was leaking and I found out quickly how much it is to replace one!

Driving the truck now on highway it has felt like possibly the shocks are not working so I took a look at the rears and noticed some moisture around one and debris on another. Not sure if this is normal or indicative of a failure.

Anyone had one fail and see what it looks like?

Looking for some guidance here, I know this has been asked a million times but my symptoms are a little different this go around. I owned a 2016 Silverado whose TC failed at 120,000 miles. Replaced it and didn’t have any further issues until I sold it at 190k.
now I have a 2017 Tahoe z71 with 85k miles that I bought from a family member. I’m noticing the rumble strip sensation every so often and wondering if this is my TC going out. I notice it the most when I’m gently accelerating, between 30-50mph, especially when going up hill.
the rpm’s are generally between 1500-2000 and they jump a bit when the shaking happens.
the transmission fluid and filter was replaced about 10000 miles ago.

is this a sign my torque converter is failing?

if so, should I go ahead and replace it so that I don’t run the risk of further damaging the transmission?

anything else I should try first?

	thanks in advance!

I have a 2015 Yukon XL Denali that I custom ordered because I needed a second row bench seat. My middle row DVD player stopped working while it was still under warranty. They replaced the entire unit. One month over the part warranty (but many miles over the warranty) it has happened again and both rows won't show a picture unless you get it at a certain angle. My front player works great. It seems to be a loose wire but the dealer said they would need to replace both...at a total price is $1500. Anyone else dealt with this? I'd like to open it up myself but can't find a tear down yet.

2019 Tahoe reverse lights snd backup camera issue

I have a 19 tahoe with the 6.2L with 23K miles on it. Taking a road trip with my family and suddenly the media screen began displaying the traffic behind my as I was cruising down the highway. The radio still functioned via the steering wheel controls but the screen was just a display of the backup camera. When the vehicle was shut off the display returned to normal. As soon as I started my tahoe the display would again show the backup camera view. I also found that my reverse lights were on whenever I started the tahoe. We'll approximately 800 miles later on my family road trip the display began blinking and I cheered as my screen returned to the media screen it was supposed to. A moment later my 7 year old daughter yells daddy there is smoke! From my rear view mirror I could see smoke coming from the rear hatch. I pulled over evacuated my family and opened the rear hatch. There was a bit more of smoke that came from the rear hatch door. I waited several mins and reloaded my family with no other problems 400 miles later. Now I have no reverse lights and no backup camera but my media screen works fine. I'm in FL enjoying vacation with my family 2/19/22. I depart back to Buffalo NY in about a week. I have a warrantee from my dealer where I bought my tahoe. Any ideas what could have caused this? Thanks fellas

	Hello everyone,

I own a 2019 Yukon 5.3 4x4. (70k miles) The dreaded transmission slippage has hit my vehicle. It has become relatively undriveable. I can accelerate it to speed but slowly to allow the transmission to engage gears. I took the vehicle to an independent shop who told me they had some computer tool to manually control the transmission (never heard of such a tool), and there is an internal failure. They want $3600 to take it apart and try to fix the problem. I'd rather not let anyone start taking things apart. Took to GMC service center, and they deemed the transmission faulty and and want to replace it $6500. The warranty went out last October. I tried to petition GM for cost assistance since its barely out of warranty, and they will only help if the dealer will also provide some kind of cost assistance. Dealer said without a transmission maintenance record, I can kick rocks.

Since this issue has come up, I see online now ongoing issues with this transmission with overheating. A service bulletin was released in 2021 about the trans Thermal Bypass Valve. It seems my transmission has been running super hot, and now its cooked. Anyone have any advice on how to petition the dealer or manufacture to fix this??

My 2017 Yukon brake light stopped working, used YouTube and repaired it. After about a year the left rear turn signal stopped working along with right rear running light. Swapped right rear to left rear and running light worked but not turn signal so it doesn't seem to be the actual tail light assembies. Any ideas?

I have a 2019 Suburban with 33,000 miles on it. Since purchasing it in October of 2019 I have had a message appear in the Driver's Center, "Steering assist is reduced drive with care". The Stabilitrac light is on solid as well. No other lights are on. The truck will not go into reverse when this happens and has no oil pressure. The truck has no power steering either. I have had it at the dealer and they have checked battery, battery cables, and some other sensor they said, all of which checked out. You can let the truck sit for 5-10 minutes and it will "reset" and be fine. No codes can be found when the truck is scanned. Has anyone had this issue? Any help or advice is appreciated.

So my '17 XL Denali (magneride, autolevel, 6ZS/7ZS springs) sits low in the front (at least I think it does, compared to others and the tires scrape on hard turns) and the front is excessively stiff. Almost feels like it's sitting on the bump stops. Rear end is fine, normal ride height and normal softness, very easy to jounce.

I unplugged the shock on the drivers side and tried jouncing the vehicle but it made no difference. Very stiff, especially compared to the rear which is nice. The shocks (and I think springs) are OEM, BWI.

So, can/do these springs sag this much over the course of 5 or 6 years? The shocks aren't leaking as far as I can tell.

Either way, I'll be replacing both with OEM, and will see what happens.

Hey all, I have a 2015 suburban LT, 70k miles, new to us about 2 months ago. The problem we’ve been having is the rear glass on the liftgate keeps popping open. No matter what we do. I’ve disconnected the battery, reconnected, still does it. I’ve taken out the relay in the back of the vehicle that controls the rear glass, but it’s still drawing power, causing the battery to die. I took it to a dealership, they said the battery had a bad cell, (probably from the draining of the battery) so it was replaced. All was well for about 4-5 days, then it started doing it again. Now it won’t stop. This is our family ride, any thoughts? I don’t know where to begin searching for bad grounds.

It has a new battery, I’ll attach a video so everyone can see what it’s doing, hopefully you can see it. Any direction or help is much appreciated. Thanks

I have a question for the tech guys in the group.

Have a 2017 suburban, with the big 5.3, 66,*** miles.

I am experiencing some runablity issues that I am trying to diagnose.

	Symptoms include:

-A rough idle when warm and in gear. It always starts good, and is smooth when warming up.

-A hesitation when pulling away from a stop. The truck responds well initally, but then sort of falls off a bit. This is also noticeable when at speed on the freeway, if you give it just a touch of pedal, it feels like it loses a bit of power, but then comes back when lifting off the gas a bit.

-When approaching a hill while cruising, if one gives a bit of throttle to compensate, it will begin to dog out a bit and can regularly feel like it is misfiring.

I have had 1 instance of a flashing check engine light when giving a bit of throttle to compensate for a hill when it was not completely warmed up.

The plugs were replaced as a health and inspection check, but they all like normal. I have not noted anything unusual with scan data that I can discern. Fuel trims are correct and no check engine light.

I ran an injection balance test, and found some interesting information. All of bank 1 pressure drops were significantly different from bank 2. I did this yest at warm idle, then did another test at around 850 rpm, which yielded similar results.

A little research led me to tsb notice N182198000, could this be 4 failing injectors, all on the same bank?

I am not a parts cannon guy, and I'm not sure if this is covered under my used car warranty. I worry about dealer services, because I'm not sure they always take the time to accurately diagnose before throwing parts around. Thanks for any help, and sorry for the long post. Trying to be as accurate and descriptive as can. I will try to attach the results of the injector balance test as well.
