Does anyone know that the original part number is or have a suggestion for replacement?  I think it might have been a plastic fastener but I'm not sure.

Mine fell off.. :(

Sorry, I don't.  Mine vanished before Sunday, damaged picture was taken a week or two prior.  I had the bolt/nut sitting in my truck, for just such an occasion, and since it was MIA, I replaced it that day.

Watch out is doesn't rust.  Had no idea GM used plastic there.

When I originally read your comment, I thought "It's painted, it won't rust."  :banghead:  Gassed up today, on the way to work, GUESS WHAT?!!   Bolt head has a little bit of rust on it.

Got a new "idea" that I'm going to execute in the next couple days.

Bought my new '18, last month, they are still using plastic there.  Guess what mod I'll be making soon?  Going to find a better, not prone to rust solution.
