  1. Past hour
  2. It sounds like you have some interesting plans for your GMC Sierra. Solar panels are definitely a smart addition, especially for powering accessories like lights and cooling systems.
  3. The light has come back on and stayed on for the last few days. I can't bring it in to the dealer until the 29th, but I put a code reader on it and got: U0285 (lost communication with active grille air shutter actuator 2)
  4. Today
  5. if only I was a rich man… to have one of these L8P’s in our trucks…. wow.
  6. Customboss - I know a lot about some things but not so much about Petroleum Distillates… What oil and filter do you favor? Do you think a magnet on the pan and or filter is worthwhile ?
  7. I'm not so sure about that. Maybe where you are located. Bob Moses ceramic is pretty legit. They have offices all over the SW. As long as you do your part, they take care of you. So far I've had no issues with them on anything I've taken to them.
  8. That Kroger card is pretty cool. Because it monitors your buying habits for food she gets sent all kinds of deals and discounts on what she typically buys. I call her the queen of deals...lol...Hell, you gotta be these days!
  9. I was wondering how she was doing as far as rust. The few of those that I still see around here are looking pretty crusty in the usual GM places. Would be hard for me to stick a new motor into something like that, even if it might make sense to do it. I hate rust more than anything in the world.
  10. KARNUT

    Gas Prices

Got one. I use the gas discount on my Avalanche the gas hog of the family.
  11. I don't know if you all have a Kroger near you but if you do get their Kroger card, it's free and you get a lot of discounts on food AND gas. My wifes 21 Explorer is turbocharged so I have her run premium in it at all times. She typically gets 40 cents off a gallon due to the points she accumulates from grocery shopping there. And that's just groceries for the two of us, it's not like we spend a ton of money on food. The points add up quickly!! Just a tip if you didn't know about it.
  12. I wonder how many other 2.7L engines are having this problem? It sounds like after everything you went through the dealer didn't fix the problem? Did you have to fix this on your own dime?
  13. My latest truck is going on its fifth year with me. I only put about 100 miles a week on it. Not traveling to Fayetteville anymore my trips will be no farther than one days worth of driving from now on. My total yearly miles with all the vehicles will probably be around 12K miles a year. Once the Honda wears out I’ll probably not replace it. Use the wife’s car for trips. The avalanche for my going to town truck. Those 2000-2006 large GM trucks and SUVs were just about indestructible and easy to keep going. I don’t see a new vehicle for awhile, well new to me.
  14. And here's yet another, a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban with a 5.3 liter and 137,016 miles which featured a fractured lifter (roller broke off of the lifter) which subsequently damaged the camshaft as well.
  15. No they haven't yet, one dealer claimed to replace the shutters, but had no effect. It's starting to shift strange too at times. Kinda "mushy" if that makes any sense. I believe this will be my 10th visit for the same issue with zero fixes lol. The other day I hauled a little tractor (about 3000lbs) about 25KM (15 miles) and the transmission was at 100C (212F) by the time I got home. Usually with just normal driving I'd probably say in the range of 155-195. I normally only drive to and from work (about 20km (13 miles)) and it's usually about 65-70C (158F) when I get there. (Driving in temperatures around 5-10C (40-50F). Tomorrow I'll actually watch it a little better, it's still pretty cool up in my part of Canada so it takes a little longer for it to heat up it seems. I'll report back tomorrow driving to and from work.
  16. Yes it was. I may be retired but I’m involved. It’s a family business after all. We have all the big three up to F-450s. I can drive any at anytime. I don’t personally have a 3/4 or one ton though I don’t need one. But I’m around ours weekly.
  17. Well... IF you can find one on a lot, it will be on LT, RST, LTZ and High Country trim levels in Chevrolet, SLE and SLT in Denali. If payload is important and you really still want the 3.0, the lower trims will offer better payloads and actually the crew cab 5ft8in typically payload higher as well. Still, its not going to be past 1600lbs by much for a 4x4 3.0 max trailer of any configuration due to engine weight and emissions equipment (heavier exhaust, DEF tank). Also, you won't be able to order one as its no longer available to order with the diesel for the rest of the 2024 model year at the moment. You can order a 3.0 but you won't be able to order with max trailer and the 3.0. I would also add, what are your typical driving needs and towing needs? Small trailer? Massive camper? Short trip daily driving?

  20. I am having the same problem with my 2023 GMC sierra mine it shifts then it say reduce speed drive safe and will not change out of first gear but if I try it off and restart it it shifts but it do it again around 6 th gear and I noticed it’s no transmission stick to check the fluid cause mine burn oil like crazy and it only have 4500 miles on it it only had 8 when I got it
  21. No kidding...didn't think I was going to get the whole life story! I am guessing there was an answer to my question in there somewhere...maybe not!
  22. I'll have to break you of that bad habit. Oh boy did you step in it. It's all good.
  23. It gets maintained well. It's an odd bird but the wife loves it. Tires are noisy and chopped up. We've been sorting alignment for years and can't seem to find her happy place. This winter was very hard on the paint and body. Lots of hiding places for salt. Really poor design with all the plastic body molding. Anyway...motor. Hum......Considering it. Mostly it has become a rolling test lab for her Buick. They share the same powertrain platform and are the same year. For now, I'll let it ride. Don't think this one is one of the 30-40-year keepers. We'll see. More likely drive it till it drops and kick to the curb. I'm looking at straight weight to see if it will slow the consumption any at all. Certainly, is quite with that oil. Had an old 64 Malibu with a 283 and a Powerglide. I'd go to the full service and say, "Fill the oil and check the gas please". Drove it for years like that. Never smoked and never missed.
  24. Attention passengers--this is your Captain speaking; this flight will be delayed . . .
  25. Hey Jesse, I had this problem too after recently getting my headliner reupholstered. I decided to unscrew my passenger side sun visors with the lights. As I was unscrewing it I notice my dome light started to flicker so upon removing the visor I notice that one of the screws had been screwed into the connection so I suggested checking all your interior light connections and wires making sure nothing is interfering with them
