I would say no as that looks like it was a theft recovery. They took the parts they needed and set it on fire.2 points

#242 20Bowtie14 Enthusiast Member 6 posts Name:Rob Location:Cape Coral Florida Gender:Male Drives:2014 Silverado LT 4x4, 2014 Impala LTZ Posted Today, 03:48 AM I noticed all the trucks I looked at originally at my dealer didn't have the backlighting around the knobs so I decided wait a couple months to take it in. I took my truck in and the service advisor walked right to a truck that just came in and saw that they were supposed to be lit. He ordered a new control board and it was in the next day and they fixed it no questions asked. I really don't think that owners should be adding resistors.... He then told me than there was a manufacturing shortage on the boards with resistors so they put the ones without them in the trucks to keep them moving off the line.. Guys, I actually work for Tech Armor, the leader in screen protectors for smart phones and tablets. Since I haven't received my truck yet (TPW 12/23), can someone get me the screen dimensions? I will have my factory make some samples. Then I can get some addresses from everyone and ship you all samples for your feedback. I will get some HD Clear and Antiglare made. Also, please let me know if it's completely flat or if there is any curve to the surface. I will post again once I get the samples from my factory and collect everyone's shipping addresses who are interested in getting samples. Jeff2 points

I looked through all the active bulletins, PIs and recalls on GMesi the other day and noticed this one. It does not affect all trucks. It sounded like when on star monitored the vehicle health it could pick up weather or not the truck was having an issue. If so that owner would be notified about the recall. Sorta the same deal for trucks in inventory except I think the dealers had to check those manually and not all would be affected. I do remember that it said only customers with trucks that were affected would get notices of the recall Craig1 point

In my mind there are a couple different scenarios to explain what we are seeing. Assuming the Chevys and GMCs are produced sharing numbers in the plant sequence and if we assume they come off the line in sequential order. Then most of the trucks on our list are already built but the electronic paper trail just has not caught up. If that is the case it looks like GMC does a better job of updating. Alternately assuming the sequence number is assigned at the beginning of the production. Supplier constraints, part shortages and or other factors could delay a truck actually being built while others make it through ok. Of the guys on our list I think I am the only one with a Chevy 6.2 who has a VIN (maybe ,I had to pry it out of them) so maybe something on the Chevys is holding things up. CaptKev has a High Country and his is en route to his dealer but it is a 5.3. Possibly a shortage of something specific to a non High Country Chevy? I don't know, I am excited it is getting close but frustrated to not see any progress. It would be nice if they just said " your truck will be at the dealer on xx/xx/2014" but we all know they can't promise something like that Craig1 point

Well, they can change Specs, but they shouldn't change delivery Specs while still advertising the LEDs in all their advertising! In any case, if this doesn't bother you that's fine. I reported the LED issue on this Forum because it does bother me. Regardless of who built the circuit boards for GM it is still their vehicle and they are responsible. I swear some of you act like you would be happy with a truck from GM that came without an engine!1 point

Yeah guys who think a weapon can't discharge when it's dropped are like the guys who know it's not loaded when it "accidentally" fires. Reminds me of two of my friends who invited me to go shooting with them shortly after I returned home from the Army years ago. I declined, they were nice guys but stupid around firearms. One layed a .30-06 with a scope across the hood of his GTO and fired. Since the barrel is a bit lower than the scope he blew a nice chunk out his front fender. The other held his .44 magnum Ruger loosely in one hand and the hammer took a chunk out of his nose. Of course they both know more about firearms than I do. 4x4 on dry pavement is fine so long as your not sharp turning. Doing so will bind the driveline.1 point

I really like this not just for gun but for whatever else you may have laying around you don't want seen/stolen from your car: laptop, tablet, passport, cash, smart phone, or ahh, other "stuff" I wouldn't leave my piece in the glovebox ever you could pry that open w/ a damn ball point pen lol! I have a sentry fireproof safe that I'll throw under the rear seat and also loop a cable lock around the handle and then around one of the metal frames for the seat when I end up leaving guns in there over night.1 point

I've got the window, my vehicle was one that needed the new part. Took all of 30 min, had to remove rear seat. I never had an issue with the original actuator, but didn't want to either. As you can see in the picture, there is an access behind the rear seat for the new part.1 point

Nice truck man. I got a black one too. Just had the front doors glass tinted yesterday. While mine does have 3.42s, I doubt I'll ever tow anything much over 3,000 lbs. Like was said before everyone's needs are different. I mostly haul grandkids, but I haul them in style!1 point

Well, I decided to go with a 4 inch BDS lift instead of a level kit. I want to be able to drive through a ditch without worrying about ripping stuff off the truck. Should be good now. Too bad these new trucks sit as low as a minivan now1 point

So. After seeing how low my new 2014 is, i changed my mind and just had the dealership order a 4 inch BDS lift kit. Had to order new wheels with 5 inch offset but shouldn't have trouble selling the old ones. Now just have to sell the old ones. Can' t wait, I have never had anything over a level kit before. Ordered the new MotoMetal 0952 wheels. May need fender flares but I hope not. I will update when I get the truck and post some pictures1 point

um, why are you carrying an unloaded firearm? carry locked and loaded at all times. someone walks up to the side of your truck and you aren't ready, not good. JMHO1 point

Dealer fixed mine with no questions asked. Took it in yesterday, they ordered the parts, parts came in this morning, I went to the dealer around 1 and out by 130. Abra cadabra! Lights now work as they should on the radio. Just play stupid and say you noticed that the lights are out.1 point
-
I played stupid and told the advisor that "I noticed that the lights were out" We then went over to another truck on the lot and he turned it on, and there they were. So he said he needed to order the part and it was in the next day. I think GM is completely aware of the problems and shipping radios to the dealers before the trucks are sold and/or fixing them before the trucks even leave the lots so more people dont end up like us. The key is to go to a truck that is newest on the lot. No questions asked, he saw that the other truck had them, which was an LT Trim like mine and said "we'll take care of it." I also said every stock photo on Chevys web site has them as well.1 point

When I refer to spoiled children. I'm referring to the ones that make fun of people who have a complaint about their truck, regardless if its about knobs without lit up rings to loose seat cushions. It doesn't matter, its their complaint. I'm tired of reading snarky and belittling remarks. If we have nothing positive or constructive to offer, don't type. Were all came to this forum for answers, help, and share experiences on a common interest. A truck! Tapatalk via Moto X1 point

first car I've pulled in this truck and wont be the last. honestly I think my two four wheelers weigh more but whatever... lol here is a quick pic of it. truck pulled real well. didn't struggle at all and had more power left in it. I want to pull something a little heavier. thinking about getting a small travel trailer in the next few years around 22'-25'. I would like to keep the dry weight around 5k and hopefully be around 6k fully loaded with luggage and what not. here is a pic from today in Houston, TX.1 point

This is a follow up on the popping noise on my 2014 GMC Sierra. As I mentioned in the above post...I've taken my truck to two different dealerships. Now then, I have become suspicious as to why these guys want to spend NO time on this issue. My suspicion being anything that might involve a GM manufacturers warranty. Because these places had no enthusiasm at all to find the problem. They didn't even try! So, to satisfy my suspicion. I made several phone calls today...I asked two different service managers...from two other dealerships about this...including the dealership I bought it from (out of state). Here is what I have learned about how warranties work between GM and the dealerships. I got these service managers to admit to me (after I blatantly asked) that most dealerships don't have any desire to spend any amount of time on a vehicle if it involves a GM manufacturers warranty. I was told by both guys that the dealerships get paid NO money by GM for diagnosis...and only get paid if they have something that blatantly has to be fixed or replaced...and even then...it's only a fraction of what the average person off the street has to pay. So, unless the issue sticks out like a sore thumb, they do not spend any time looking for the problem. I am ready to cut my losses. I look at it this way...I have 3 options...I can either keep spending time and relentlessly search for the issue...get an attorney to see what my rights are in getting GM to buy this vehicle back, sell it or trade it for different brand of vehicle. I've opened a ticket with GM...but I don't think it's going to do any good. One reason I went with brand new...is for the warranty...but so far that's turned out to be a joke. Anyway, I hope this helps someone!1 point

I'm in exact same boat. Drive too much to lift that much. Going 275/65r20 toyo or trail grappler mt tires with my 2.5" rough country leveling kit and calling it a day1 point
-
Picked my black AT up back in October. Put a 2.5 RC lift in it shortly after. I'm debating lifting it 6 inches and going with aftermarket wheels and 35's but since I'm on the road a lot I keep going back to just the 2.5 and a set of Toyo MTs on the factory wheels. We'll see what happens in the spring I guess. She's up to 3700 miles with no real big issues. It did vibrate the first time I drove it, had 12 miles at that point. Had the stealer road force balance the tires then it was all good. Also found that the roof had a bunch of dents a few weeks after delivery, but the dealer took good care of it. Picture is before the foot of snow we got over the last few days:). http--,,--// Matt1 point

Hey thewhitestallion that's exactly how my truck looked when I bought it. (Except the Z71 sticker on the rear -- mine doesn't have that.) Interior is probably different though, I have the 40/20/40 front seats. Anyway I don't know if you are considering mods, but for what its worth here is my truck now after a 2" RC level, and custom wheels/tires. I also added the GM steps for $500, which was really dumb because that's too much $$ for what you get.1 point

What year was it? While many can and will debate the reliability of Toyota, one thing is definite, you wont lose your ass on a Tacoma if you decide its not the truck for you and sell it or trade it in.1 point

Hello, I was wondering if anyone who owns the Du Ha or the Husky GearBox can give me their review of the products. I'm trying to decide which one I want to go with. Basically I'm trying to figure out of the Du Ha is worth the extra $20-$30. Thanks guys! Husky Gear Box Du Ha Under Seat Storage Bin1 point

no no no don’t take it to a body shop, the process is so easy! I removed my mold trim, (you can see it in my pics). Honestly all you need is a heat gun and a window tint kit ( they look like thin plastic scrapers) some goo gone and micro fiber towel. Use the heat gun on a good setting and slowly go back and forth on molding one door at a time, in about 5 or so minutes you will see the mold rising off the door. heat for a minute or so longer and then slowly peel away the molding. Be very careful the 3M tape will be very very hot and burn you, the warmer it is the easier to remove, then when you have it all off use the goo gone to take away the residue. You tube has videos on how to remove molding, it is very easy !1 point
