  1. Was finally able to get my BedRug and Pace Edwards Switchblade tonneau cover installed. After searching the threads for cargo manager options for the bed I only found the adjustable cargo bars and 2 x 6 studs. I knew that with the Bedrug my ability to properly engage the slots with a 2 x 8 bed divider would be difficulty and heavy. So I was able to make my own hybrid. I used a 1 x 8 piece of shelving cut to 52 inches and covered it with black vinyl. I then purchased a cargo bar from Walmart and attached it to the board with 2 insulated electrical connecters. As you can see in the picture I attached the bar to the wood on the stationary portion of the bar. This keeps thing like groceries and smaller items from sliding all over my bed during transport and very easy to remove. Also made a grab hook seen on the right side of the that has a hook in the end for grabbing stuff that may at front of the bed. Used velcro to keep it up and out of the way. 2. Anybody heard of it yet or interested at all? Newest venture from Valve, an interesting take on a console computer hybrid. I think I'll install SteamOS on my PC and give it a try. The best part is it'll support new aftermarket hardware like Oculus Rift! I cant wait, as an original PC gamer I'll be happy if it takes off and conquors the dictatorship consoles (PlayStation, Xbox). http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamMachines/ http://www.oculusvr.com/

  4. Hello Everyone, I've been looking for a truck for a while with the 6.2L, and finally found one within 100 miles away, so I drove there and got a smoking deal on the truck and my trade, after a few hours of negotiation of course lol. So far I'm happy with my purchase and I love the truck, and I guess the 6.2 was really worth the extra $$ over the 5.3, this thing is a BEAST! Anyway, here are a couple pictures of my truck, plus one for an older truck that I used to have, a 72 GMC. Looking forward to make some new friends here!

  5. Install should be a breeze.. I put GM ovals on a 1500 a few weeks ago and it was a breeze.. Take the truck to a spray wash and spray it out where the steps go

  7. Thanks everyone. I am not a huge fan of the 2014's just yet. Plus to get this same truck in the new design it would be way out of my budget. I got this one at a killer deal and had everything I wanted and also had the $1800 topper already on it, which is a huge bonus for me.

  9. I am not sure how or where you would move the DEF tank unless you removed it. I know that when I got a skid plate for the def tank they had changed up the way it mounted becasue of the AMP step mounting so I would say that the mfg of the steps should have taken the def tank into their planning on how to mount the steps.

  11. I adjusted each headlight adjustment screw 1 turn counter-clockwise which raises the light beam. I am happy to say that it made a huge difference. The high beam was better as well. I will probably try 1/2 turn more and leave it.

  13. Huh? H/K had to pay out all that money because they were just blatantly lying about their fuel economy results. A couple people complaining about possible FE changes on their first tank after a reprogram is completely different. I had the recall done and have noticed no difference in performance. Some people on this site are just too hung up on fuel economy. "It's -40*, heavy snow coming down, 10 minute remote start, 30mph headwind, I'm in 4x4 low and I can't get 22mpg. WTF?" YMMV - look it up.

  14. Jennifer, I have been to the dealer three times with this issue, I have been in contact with GM customer service and received a case number. I have changed the antenna and improved reception a little. I would appreciate talking with an engineer or someone at GM. This should not be a problem on a vehicle in 2014. I have given a dvd to my dealer showing the radio reception in my vehicle compared to a 2014 Traverse. The Traverse gets excellent reception and I can get a signal in my Sierra. I believe it is time for GM to recognize this is an issue with a number or truck owners. I will be awaiting your reply.

  15. Ordered my Truxedo LoPro QT last week and it, along with the bedrug will be installed tomorrow. Have had Truxedo's for 10 years. The last one I had on my '11 F150 had been on three different trucks and was 8 years old. Still looked like new and worked perfect. Just sold it to my neighbor for his truck for $100. Mine never leaked and never sagged. Not much snow here on the gulf but it is reinforced with bars and has tensioners. My $.02 Good luck!

  16. Keep in mind that with the max tow option a lot of other things come with it. You couldn't add those things for the price that they charge. The addition of transmission cooling, electric brake controller, change in suspension running, etc., aside from gear ratio change is worth it in my book. I have the max tow package on my 2014 SLT All Terrain and am hooked up to a trailer a few times a month year round. I have the 5.4 as I rarely tow over 5,000 lbs, and it is usually closer to 3,000. My previous vehicle was a 2500 Yukon XL with a 6.1 engine, 4.11 rear end and I find my Sierra does just as well. The integration of the electronic braking with my 3,000 (empty weight) flat bed up and down the Southern Ohio Appalachian roads is alone worth the extra money. You can't get that integration with any after market purchases. It really comes in handy when the trailer is loaded with ATV's, Side by Side, log splitter, or Utility Tractor with attachments. The cooling package alone will cost you close to $400 if installed after market due to the tight engine compartment spacing, etc. Finally, the extra starting acceleration is nice. Yes gas mileage will suffer a bit, so calculate that over the course of a year. I ran the same type of calculation when going to larger tires with a more aggressive tread, as I hated getting stuck at my cabin with a trailer attached due to loss of traction.

  18. I have a 2014 Denali with the 6.2 and 3.42 rear end. My transmition has a awkard shift into second gear. The dealer said that this is normal because of the low first gear. Of course that is BS. The true is that these trucks have all been programed for max fuel economy. We will all have to wait for a an after market tuner to fix the driveability issues. I like my truck, but it could be so much more. I came out of a 2010 Tundra. The Toyota had a very good drive train. I wish GM would learn that most people buy a truck because it's fun to drive not because of fuel economy. Or atleast that my opion. They should offer two programing options. One for fuel economy and one for those of us that want the best performance possible from our trucks.

  19. I have a Truxedo Lo Pro QT. I love it! Full lifetime warranty, totally self tensioning, and very low profile. It took 15 minutes to install. The whole unit is very high quality. The list price is $499, but I purchased mine brand new for $329 shipped from E-Bay.

  20. Jennifer, This has been a on-going issue, and nothing has been done yet. My FM radio reception is horrible. Been to dealer a few times, contacted GM, NOTHING happening. There is No way any manufacturer should sell a 2014 vehicle with this kind of FM radio reception, also the HD does not work, goes in and out constantly, probably cause of the reception issue.

  21. Well, I thought it was the tires, so I got a new set, and now even at 65-80ish I still get some kind of vibration. I look over and my passenger seat is moving/vibrating and its like in the floor as well and I feel it in my seat. So could it be the drive shaft out of balance? What else?

  25. Well I think the play usually comes from a "rag" joint in the steering shaft. It can usually be replaced with a shaft that doesn't have it. But if the truck is pulling really bad I'd guess the alignment is way off too. Maybe your mechanic didn't align it after he installed all the new parts? And as far as the swaybar links, they should be very easy to fix. I would err on the side of caution and take it to someone who knows their stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  27. I used these back to back on my old rig and feel the duratracs gave noticeably better traction in snow, ice and mud. They lasted longer as well. I'm not sure the duratrac can be beaten for all around use.

  28. I think GM has been fairly deceptive with these trucks, why not throw 17" or 18" on the truck if you don't have the right gears...also the whole raising the prices back in October by $1500? Some dealers raised the price on previously existing stock....some didn't. I doubt GM will pay the bill to have $1 worth or resistors installed or swap $100s of parts to fix the issue in mass because of a parts shortage...in the long run it would of been cheaper to stop the line since there's a surplus of vehicle stock on hand so we're stuck being at the mercy of the dealerships service dept. On a separate note and back on topic, i don't think its ever helpful to go to the Service Advisor and throw TSBs and info from forums in their face...its no different than going into a Dr's office and tell them what your condition is X and how they need to treat your condition with what medicine based in what webMD said. I think anybody on the receiving end would find that insulting. See plenty of novice mechanics are DIY know it alls and every professional mechanic and service advisor deals with them every day. Its all about respect and building a good relationship with the service dept. Arm yourself with the info from these forums, go to the service dept and if the service dept tries to BS you, or they give you wrong info, politely, say..."that doesn't make sense from how i understand the system to work..etc" or go somewhere else. Your way of asking to go look at another truck is a perfect solution, especially when they say it works as designed, so if another truck has working lights, then is that truck broken by their definition. Remaining calm, but appearing competent is the best defense. Demanding they refer to TSB X or throw "somebody on the Internet got their dealer to fix the issue by writing up the issue as X" and showing them a forum thread on your smart phone is just going to put people on the defensive and probably get the Service Writer to think and act on "well if you seem to know so much...go fix it yourself" many times these service writers and depts are the face and intermediary for the decisions the big wigs at GM made and they had no bearing in those decision...we need to remember that before we go making demands of them.

  29. I know most of you aren't fans of the big wheels, but I put these on today and really like them. I wanted to lift the truck but being I am in and out of the bed on a daily bases I figured this would be a good way to make the truck look better and still function for what I use it for. I tried keeping it stock looking so what do you think? They are 24 inch wheels and I went with the tallest tire I could before it would rub.

  30. Yeah, the winter months have made what I am catching more watery. That is primarily why the chocolate milk looking stuff in the shot glasses I posted. I was pouring everything I caught into a used drinking water bottle and it was mixing. What's great is that, whether oil or condensation, we are getting that nasty crap out of there before it makes the intake.

  31. Put in a drop in K&N air filter two weeks ago. Might be a placebo bit I swear it runs and responds better. Today I put on the Access Tonnosport Tonneau Cover. I did more research than I care to admit. Went with this bc of full bed access, no drilling, and sleek look. Thus far it is greatm install was by the book. Small problem with one clamp but it was easily fixed. Pics before and after below. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

  36. Jonathan, What is the procedure you are recommending after we have gone our local dealer that is not offering any fix for the poor FM reception? Many of us are very frustrated. We are looking for a fix from GM and would like to follow the correct procedure to raise the awareness of this issue. Thank You, Ace

  41. Dodge needs to put that in there commercials. Make a realy cool commercial. And right at the end the announce spark plugs need to be changed every 30000 miles. See how many they sell then. I know 3 people who would have never bought one if they would have known about the plugs. Dodge should ashamed for something like that. Change spark plugs every 30000 miles. Thats crazy. 45. Ya I won't do that crap just for fun, no way in hell I do it all the time. Once in awhile and only to ppl that piss me off. I can't even smoke people that bad anyways, my truck is tuned by ATP trucks. They promote clean tuning, won't sell you a smoke tune. Only tune I have that will smoke a little is race tune, just meant to help spool turbos a little quicker is all. once boost is achieved the smoke clears right up. Every other tune I have they run absolutely smoke free, my 500hp tune won't even cough one little bit. Clean tuning is where it's at!! Smoked a bit, Turbo lit And that was it!!!!
