Hello all! New member here from Texas. Started out on trucks back in the 80s, and had a 89 Silverado with the 5.0 that went 250K+ with minimal issues. I’ve been away from Chevys for a few years, but just brought home a 2021 LT Trail Boss with the 5.3 . Im looking forward to participating, learning around here.1 point

Well in the a deal that was too good to pass up i am the proud owner of a new 2021 Sierra 1500 elevation/ offroad edition Duramax! Randomly put my old 2020 trailboss with 25k miles online for what i paid for it a year ago and had a dealer message me offering that price. They had ONE blacked out sierra and it was the ONLY duramax on the lot. Out the door was break even. I walked out the door with a new truck for no added cost to me. Was silly not to buy it. Im considering a 6" lift and 35s. My trailboss has 2+2" lift for 35s so i miss my lift.1 point

If I remember right the top line is the one I took off when I used the transmission to pump out it's own fluid into a bucket during a fluid exchange. Also remove the transmission line thermostat if you haven't. You'll see an easy 30-40 degree temp drop without even adding the cooler.1 point

Thanks, it's far from perfect my starting point was less than ideal. So with you and co-pilot out you're 4810lbs. I should still weigh again with fuel. But that's much closer than I thought. I'd imagine I have more on my front end though. Side note have you every thought about fabricating a lower air diffuser that streamlines airflow from the lower front bumper valance back past behind the oil pan? I too watch fuel economy like my life depends on it, sold my TDI VW so I've considered building some of these for my low 2wd trucks to test.1 point

Going to pick up a Purolator or Wix replacement with the 22 psi bypass today. The parts store near my job should have one or the other. What a confusing mess. I appreciate everyone helping shed some light on the different twists and turns of the apparently “new” PF63 (GM 12707246).1 point

Ya, just found out about the high pressure pump. Learning a new engine should be fun.1 point

I'm the guy that said they dropped the "E", the part numbers changed a few months ago on most oil filters dropping the "E" designation. The internals of the filter are the same. There was/is no TSB on it, we get answerbacks from GM telling us about number changes and letting us dealers know that a part number is changing, most of the time it does not involve a TSB.1 point

I understand that it is hard to accept a 0w-20 will protect your investment. But realize GM has developed the 3.0 diesel from the ground up and the oil was part of that R&D. Run it with confidence. Also 0w-20 has been out for a long time in gas engines with hundreds of thousands of miles with no issues. Oil has come a long way and a true synthetic like AMSOIL will provide superior protection.1 point

You pads are almost worn that fast? I always used to say if Delco did anything right it was brake pads. Still onhe stock pads on the front of my 2006 LBZ Duramax with 275000kms and Ive towed my 36ft enclosed 5thwheel Cargo hauler more than couple times with out the trailer brakes working. That is crazy if your brakes are really wearing out already. With that low mileage I would assume they would replace them as defective.1 point

I did this rough country set up and wired it to a wireless module and used one of my home link buttons to turn them on so I didnt have to run wires to the cab. Works great. I would of liked to have brighter lights but with my ltz grill that was the only option I had. They do fill in at night but do not expect them to light the world up in front of you.1 point

Dealer said there was a checksum error with the steering module. Re-flashed and everything magically started working. Hopefully getting reimbursed for the towing from GM will be half as easy. Careful with those updates!1 point

Scarab 30 Tournament behind my '21 6.2 with Max Tow Package. Boat and trailer come in at 9600 lbs without fuel or gear. Fully loaded with 280 gallons of fuel it scales at 11,200 lbs, just under max tow rating for the truck. I do not tow any long distances fully fueled, just fill up right before reaching the launch.1 point

It was driving me nuts too, and I actually had to read the manual to find out. Different than my previous 3 Chevy trucks....1 point
