Oil filter change 2019 Santa Fe. 4037 miles. Amsoil OE 5W20 and Purolator One filter used. It was down about 10 -12 ounces I would guess. I have been checking it once a week so I knew it. I don't think the oil usage is bad considering our driving conditions. Meaning our constant elevation changes puts more strain on a motor than flat landers. Would I like to see no usage? Of course.3 points

A little off-topic perhaps, but not a whole lot, one of my favorite movies from the 90's was Mel Gibson in "Conspiracy Theory". The take away at the time was if you throw enough conspiracy theories out there, one of them is bound to come true. Since that time there has been a watershed change in world events and politics, and a new mantra has followed, What's the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth? The answer: 6 months.2 points

You can but it will cost. White Auto and Media can do it. I would like to extend the flash like it does with the trailer hooked up. But the cost is not worth it to me at least.2 points

The Synthetic Advantage ISO certified oil analysis is at a higher cost because it offers more than any other lab. It isn't just a simple analysis that is ran along side of everything that comes through and processed the same. It is more in-depth and the interpretation is more precise. Not a generalized note that just goes off the universal averages. You pay more but you also get "way" more.2 points

Since no one here knows the actual speed rating of the tires on the trailer or their brand and quality. Your condescension and holy than thou attitude is uncalled for. HOWEVER, the tires just replaced off my trailer "Ridgway" are about 2 1/2 years old, with maybe 5k miles on them. I've had two blow up now. Ambient temperature on the last one was low 70's and low 50's on the first. Speed 60-65 on the first and 70-75 on the second. PSI was correct and they weren't overloaded or over sped. Point being, these off-brand, no-brand, whatever brand trailer tires are junk. Hopefully the Goodyear Endurance are better - they sure cost more.2 points

HAHAHA just because it says it can be done DOES NOT mean it is good on your frontend evidently you have never done lift kits I have also don't go telling people they are good to do it and there not. People come looking for correct info and anybody will tell you a 3.5 lift on a stock IFS frontend is asking for trouble. Iam done here.2 points

I checked my oil after my 750mi road trip towing for a bit more than half that and I’m glad it’s still full. Nothing lost.2 points

Yep that’s how I feel. Better than 190. I’ve been commuting in my truck this week. Oddly enough other than the initial 2 drives . It’s never hit 170 again, but we had a little cool front come in so I’m sure that helps. Thanks for the replies. I’m not to worried about it .2 points

I will never buy the extended OCI's. Oil and filters can be cost effective or expensive, your choice. I believe oil and filter changes are directly related to engine longevity and performance. So I will change my oil/filter more often than some because it has served me well for many years. CHEAP INSURANCE! YMMV2 points

Exactly! These aren't 1 axle utility trailers that will have a catastrophic failure on the rare chance that 1 tire blows out. What are the chances that 2 tires on the same side of a trailer will fail at the same time? Heck, from the way this guy worries he shouldn't even be driving his truck out of fear that one of those tires will have a blowout. The chances are about the same. The speed limits where I live are 80 mph. So when I was doing 80 I wasn't speeding either. Yes, tire brands do matter when it comes to reliability.1 point

I towed 1 million miles with one gooseneck trailer that weighed 7500 lbs with a 14K tractor on it. I ran load range e Michelin tires. I towed the speed limit with highly modified diesels. Never even had a flat let alone a blowout. If l did it wouldn’t be fun but the other 7 tires would pickup the slack. If you don’t have a properly equipped rig. There’s no speed that’s slow enough. The only two tires that could make things interesting would be the front two. I never let them get 50 percent wore out. That would be more concerning than going 75 mph the speed limit in Texas. Comparisons to drunk drivers and cowboys is ridiculous.1 point

The Goodyear Endurance tires are great too. I have those on my small utility trailer. The trailer came with some off brand cheap tires that have a lot of bad reviews for failing with very few miles. I replaced those cheap tires with the Endurance tires almost immediately. I bought new rims too and kept the cheap tires with the rims for spare tires. Oh, and I remembered the Winnebago has Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, which are also Q rated. I will only buy Goodyear or Michelin when it comes to tires.1 point

Well, for gooseneck GM has their own, p/n 84759852 for $310 which is the ball and the hooks. For 5th wheel GM has the Curt direct fit for the factory pucks. 20K hitch is GM p/n 19418687 for $1135. They only go up from there but there are still deals to be had. But the 500-600 range you seek is non-existent for factory puck fitment. You can get the OEM puck to existing Curt adapters for about 500-600, but then you still need to buy a 5th wheel.1 point

The tires on the Winnebago were a Q rated Goodyear light truck tire. I don't recall the exact type, but they are rated for 99 mph and are less than a year old with very low miles. The tires on the new toy hauler are Goodyear G614 RST tires, which are one of the best tires you can get. 14-ply and rated for 75 mph. Being brand new and used in 30 degree temp while not even being close to their weight limit I had zero concerns about testing the trailer at 80 mph speeds. FWIW, I've been driving for 30 years and have yet to have a blowout. I never let my tires get old.1 point

My transmission usually stays in the low 170's while towing my travel trailer. Only time I ever break 180 is when backing the TT up my steep driveway.1 point

I'm not sure how much they cost, luckily our camper came with them but they are supposed to be the best of the best. We will be towing our camper to Maine this August from Atlanta. I bought the TST 507 TPMS a few weeks ago for it just to be safe. Should be a fun trip for sure.1 point

Lots of people enjoy his comedy. That’s why he leads the pack. The way I see it if it’s on video it’s at least half true. Reminds my of the old saying. Believe half you see, nothing you hear.1 point

I need a couple of drinks to listen to him. Even then he'd fit better at the Two Drink Minimum Comedy Shope. Even then I'd see him as a "One Trick Pony." Every broadcast follows the same rush and rout. Argument starts with "Could it be" followed closely by "IF so then"......that it isn't news and it isn't even information. This is his 'style'. Offers a conjecture quickly followed by a line of argument he just based that conjecture on and finishes with a spin that makes many forget what the reasoning is based on. Nothing! He makes me laugh. They all do this, but Carlson is shameless. No attempt at all to hide his trickery. It's like watching a two-year-old magician pull a quarter out of a dog's backside.1 point

It's doing fine. It will always run hotter when idling or crawling in city traffic. No air flow, right? As you note, comes back to the 160 F range once moving. Perfect! You can knock that back a bit if you install the cooler water thermostat. If you want to stay below 170 no matter what you will need more cooler with a thermostatic fan that trips 160 F. Improved Racing may be able to help with that.1 point

Unfortunately the kids coming out of school these days think America started on the day they were born. They have little sense of time or history generally speaking. My wife and I have done our best to raise our children for the Lord and to teach them about America's real history, from her discovery to now with a special emphasis on WW2, the Civil War and Communism's role in those conflicts all the way through today. We've visited battlefields, Stone Mountain, The General, ship memorials, etc. and remind them of significant days in our country's past at dinner, such as Pearl Harbor, Armistice Day and George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation. I hope they carry it on and never forget.1 point

The one you can get through GM Accessories, imo. Iirc, it's the Thinkware F800. I have everything on your list checked off. You can have it upload to a cloud, are download videos to your phone via wifi. It's also plugged into your vehicle computer, so it gives you your speed, etc. I also get audible alerts for school zones, traffic cameras, and when I'm too close to the vehicle ahead of me (I'm in SoCal, so this one goes off a lot because that's the normal way to drive out here).1 point

Just a quick update to my shift to park message. I contacted the dealer and they had to have it towed. They finally got it in the shop and determined that the BCM was defective and ordered a new one. The truck was supposed to be finished today but for some reason they cannot get the BCM to accept the programming for the mileage from the old module. Hopefully, I will get it back on Monday. They opened a trouble ticket with GM tech. They said the truck starts, runs, shifts and drives but they must get the mileage programmed before they can release it. Also, since I mentioned that I was experiencing the transmission shudder that they will flush and service the transmission under warranty. Got my fingers crossed.1 point

I got the updated transmission thermostat a couple months ago and I have never seen it go above 170F yet, granted we are still facing the cool winter weather here. I will say that around this time last year, I was getting in the mid to high 180F range after doing my normal commute. Now I get around 147F to 150F doing the same trip, which is a pretty big difference. Just judging by the behavior of the new thermostat, I would like to bet I will probably see 167-170F at the highest in the coming months or during long trips. All I will say is, I will gladly take these temperatures any day over consistently reaching 194F and staying there.1 point

If you won’t be climbing big long hills in hot weather, you should be okay. I was pulling about 4500-5000 in 110+degrees with 6% incline soooo yeah.1 point

My previous truck was a 1999 Chevy Silverado LT extended cab with just about every option available. Bought it new in 99 and drove it till I bought the new 20 2500HD. I wanted to go with the HD because I sometimes tow a skid steer. I also wanted an 8' box again. I ended up with a red 2500HD WT standard cab. It has the trailer brakes and 8' box. Also has the bigger mirrors, running lights and a few other options. I love it. I have gotten more thumbs up and compliments from complete strangers than I ever got with my old one. It handles great and tows the skid steer like it's not even there. I did go out and add a couple of small 'Redneck Edition' emblems on the doors. Couldn't help myself. It's red and I'm a redneck. Have had several people question me as to whether it came from the factory that way.1 point

Sounds like a plan, it's a pretty simple job and it's well worth it to try and keep the transmission happy. You can even monitor your current transmission temps during daily driving before and after just to see the difference it makes. If you feel that the truck isn't all that happy after towing that much weight for that long of a distance, then maybe consider regearing to 3.73's. But that cost is pretty large for many. I'd error on the side of caution and only tow between 65-70mph max for fuel mileage and to keep the truck happy. You may find that manual 5th gear is best too.1 point

40.8 mph. Thought this maybe the case. I'm running 42 mph by this method but only 165K so far. Did you know that only 0.3% of all vehicles go 300K? You've got a winner.1 point

Same thing with that oil analysis. Thats a generic industrial lab analysis. Not a good ISO Certified automotive one from @Black02Silverado. Get what ya pay for. TESTOIL cannot compete with Nicks work by design. 12,000 miles and that wear is still terrible.1 point

Also what's probably causing the insolubles is before I change my oil I perform a intake plenum and valve cleaning service via the dirty air pcv entrance on top of the intake plenum. 1 whole bottle of BG platinum air intake, valve and combustion chamber cleaner. Maybe that's the cause from carbon getting past the piston rings?1 point

Yeah loose connection for sure. Could be at the speakers or it could be a ground issue. Electrical can be a headache.1 point

Back on topic. We took a 2/1/2 day road trip covering 600+ miles with 2 nights in a motel. Driving conditions included lots of curvy mountain roads, flat straight roads with lots of elevation changes. The purpose of this update is the car used no oil which I attribute to switching to Amsoil OE. It would use a little oil when using Castrol Edge.1 point
