  1. The towing sticker can be off some due to the way SAE calculates vehicles with over 8600 lb GVW. The towing calculation for that MODEL is based on base vehicle mass. For vehicles under 8600 lbs, the towing calculation for that MODEL uses EPA mass which means you include every option with over 33% take rate into the vehicle mass. For GM's towing sticker, the payload and curb mass are VIN specific. The towing numbers are MODEL specific based on SAE calculation. For HD trucks, the conventional towing number is usually accurate because it's usually restricted by handling or due to 2.5 hitch and isn't restricted by mass calculations. The GN numbers can be off by a few thousand pounds due to them being mass constrained. The issue with the High County is it has a curb mass significantly higher than work truck mass and with the SAE the High County is GVW restricted while the work truck is GCW. This means the High County loses 6.67 pounds on gooseneck trailering per pound increase in curb mass. For HD segment, the SAE cal uses base vehicle mass (work truck mass) + 300lbs passengers + 100 lbs cargo + 120 lbs hitch equipment + 15% pin ( raise trailer weight until you hit gvw, gcw, or rgawr). So, if your passengers weigh more, you haul more cargo, you have heavy ass slider hitch, and/or have pin over 15% the sticker wouldn't be able to haul what is on the sticker if GM used the curb mass of the truck. The only weigh to be accurate is to use app. On the app, you can put the curb weight in, passenger weight, cargo weight, hitch weight and it will output the max trailer weight. As a rule of thumb, I generally tell people if you are hauling GN or fifth wheels when you get 70 to 75% you should consider moving up to next higher capable model. There is nothing new for this trailer label for 2024. The trucks from 2020 all have the similar issue. If you compare similarly equipped F250, Ram 2500, GM 2500 you will see similar drops in GN towing. #iworkforGM

  3. The header flange is different, so you'd have to work past that. It would be a custom one off unit you are trying to do here. Not worth the effort.

  5. Too much to bother. Both aren't even wired the same TCM wise, etc. TCM is external on the 8 speeds, internal on the 6 speeds. Sell the 8, rebuild the 6.

  6. Hi All, I have a 2017 Silverado 1500 LT, and I am looking for aerosol paint to match the dark metallic paint that is on a bunch of the interior trim pieces. In this case, specifically the panel with the headlights, dimmer and 4WD controls on it. My RPO code sticker says 4AA on it, which should be Jet black, but I cant find anyone selling paint referencing this 4AA number. I have found "Jet Black" interior color paint on this site, and maybe some others, but the numbers not matching concerns me. https://www.paintscratch.com/touch_up_paint/Chevrolet/2017-Chevrolet-Silverado-Jet-Black-Interior-WA600R.html Thank you for any help! In case you are interested what I am working on, my truck did not come with the factory trailer brake controller, and I need to add one. Decided to try my hand at modifying the trim panel using a 3D printer, some plastic bond, and glazing putty to fit a Tekonsha Prodigy iD in the factory location. It wont match perfectly, but I think it will be in a good location and wont stand out too much.

  7. So I had all the same symptoms everyone is talking about. I got both p228d and p0089 codes. So I decided to go with the info I got here. I went with the cheapest route. Changed the high pressure fuel rail sensor. It didn’t work so I changed the high pressures fuel pump and sure enough that fixed all my issues. It’s wasn’t too difficult took about 3 hours of labor.

  8. I've been running spliced for over a year. No oil in the booster. Flow is always toward the manifold.

  9. I added trailer brake controls to the same panel. The factory color has a very fine metallic flake in it. When I painted mine, I first sprayed it with satin black and then I sprayed a very light dusting of metallic black from about 2-3 ft away.

  12. Neil, sell the 8-speed and use the funds to overhaul the 6-speed, WAY less headache that way. Get a billet converter with improved internals.

  13. I’m a results oriented person. I’ve seen synthetics increase life and lower temperature. I’ve seen recently simply changing a fluid renew the smooth operation of a transmission. Contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions. I’ve learned that an increasing number of vehicles need shorter intervals of fluid changes. Contrary to what said manufactures recommended. I would have never given that a thought. Only from reading websites like these have given me reason to. Experience is the best teacher. Over anything a person gets from a book or school.

  16. For those who are following footsteps of @jonathanspw, I looked up the parts on GM Parts Giant specified in previous post with the PDF attachment for RPO 9L7. Parts can be sourced elsewhere, verify, use information at own risk. Relay (4 required, choose one of the following): 19116057, Relay Assembly, High Power, Multi-use, Gray, 12V, 35A, 4-Pin (GM PN 19116057) 13500114, Relay Assembly, High Power, Multi-use, Gray, 12V, 4-Pin (GM PN 13500114) Replaces: 12088567, 12135170, 12193606, 15328866, 15393412, 19115080, 19116057 Fuses: 19209790, Micro Blade, 5A, tan (2 required) (GM PN 19209790) 19209796, Micro Blade, 30A, green (4 required) (GM PN 19209796) NOTE: Simply adding these fuses and relays does NOT automatically infer the Upfitter AUX 1 through 4 switches will function. As documented throughout this thread, the vehicle must also have the underlying wiring in place - at a minimum between S48A X1 and X50A X3 and X4. Factory wiring also uses X61A X5 and X1. As documented in PDF attachment in previous post and the Upfitter Integration Bulletin 110N, the placement of the fuses in X50A controls the powering (battery or ignition) of the AUX switches, improper placement could damage the vehicle's wiring. Research and verify.

  18. Essentially the transmission thermostat, as Homewrecker stated. GM made a revised TBV with a temperature of 158F, as opposed to the original 194F. You can tell when someone is running the updated part because they stamped it with the number '70.' I'm at the age/mileage where I thought it was a good idea to take some sort of preventative measures to avoid potential 6L80 failure, and I felt very comfortable with this solution EDIT: I just realized this was a really late response, sorry lol

  20. I mainly use Waze for just driving around for the notifications (police, hazard, etc). Even when I set a destination, I only have alerts on. I believe with the OEM unit it was adjustable. In Waze, you can adjust the navigation volume in settings. The Android unit does have some separate settings, but haven't adjusted them. So far the alerts sounds the same. Next time I take it out, I'll turn on full notification.

  22. Drill a hole/tap at the back of the manifold for the brake booster. This is common practice for camaro owners looking to run an lt2 intake manifold. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=579354&page=6 https://gwatneyperformance.com/product/gpi-brake-booster-ptc-fitting-for-lt2-manifold-modification/

  24. How is the navigation volume to music volume ratio? I put an android radio in my wife's car and the navigation volume is pretty low unless you have volume cranked up on music.

  25. Finally finished the wiring for the new driver's seat function tested and passed. Now I just have to put seat back together and bolt everything back in the truck. Also ordered the cold air intake tube Green filter air filter. K&N cabin filter and sent off the throttle body to Soler Performance to have them work their magic on it. I should hopefully have it back on the road in the next week.

  26. It does run a little warm since there's no fan, but my phone's doing wireless AA at the same time, so I'm sure that's playing some role. It does fast wireless charging with the correct adapter. With that tray, the lining that comes with it keeps it in place and same with the phone.

  30. It is unfortunate that you purchased a truck with 20 inch wheels. Big wheels and short sidewalls give a hard ride. 20 inch wheels belong on sports cars. My Z71 with 18 inch wheels rides very well.

  31. Upgrading or changing shocks has to be accompanied with a thorough understanding of what the shocks will change to be able to determine if it was worthwhile or not. The only thing the shock absorber does is limit (i.e. control, slow, dampen - hence the name dampers) the motion of the suspension. The tires and springs will try to bounce the vehicle upwards when a bump is encountered. The Bilstein shock absorbers are valved slightly more aggressively than factory to more aggressively dampen suspension motions. This can do two things. An impact from a bump might feel more severe initially because a more aggressive shock absorber won't allow the suspension to compress as much or as quickly. This impact will get transferred to the passenger compartment - you. Second, there will be less bounces from the same impact. While the initial impact might seem more severe, there will be fewer subsequent bounces, because the shock absorber already limited or slowed the motion. These two conditions make describing the effects of the shocks confusing. The ride may seem rougher from the impact but also less bouncy at the same time or smoother... Each individual will have different preferences to these two sensations.

  32. I don't disagree it's certainly the CAFE standards that drive striving for fuel efficiency for manufacturers. That said Ford (36gal) , Ram (33gal) , Toyota (32.5 gal) all figured out a way to get more than 24 gallons in their vehicles, even if it's only as an option. Last I checked they all have to deal with the same standards. For GM this simply reeks of cutting corners to save cost.

  33. The small tank is my biggest complaint, on long distance towing trips getting < 10 mpg I'm stopping every 2 -3 hours to fill up just in case I have to drive farther between stations, I'd kill for another 20 gallon tank.

  36. I remember a little over two years ago it was displayed all over all news channels infection numbers and deaths from Covid. Then there was an election. And behold no more numbers. I wonder why? People are saying not much has changed, ok where are the numbers? How about the southern invasion? I remember early on in the last administration we got kids in cages. Actually that happened in the prior administration to that one. But they tried to pin it on the one after. It’s all political. If that hasn’t been made aware. Well that’s on you. Mask don’t work, the 6ft deal was bogus and now the latest from the CDC is kids don’t need the vaccine. I bet the so called informed missed that too. Oh well the delusion lives on.
