  1. Is it possible there are aftermarket pads on there? A couple months back, I tried to save a few dollars and went with front brake pads from O'Reilly's. That turned out to be a big mistake. I had same issue but it was obvious the pads were not releasing from the rotors. They were what I felt was to tight when fitting into the caliper mounting bracket. I had some smoke coming out of the wheel wells and could smell the heated brake pads. I then thought maybe the brake caliper mounts were the issue so I bought some remanufactured ones and the fitment of the pads was still an issue. I took the pads back to O'Reilly's as they had a lifetime warranty and exchanged them. This replacement set fit a lot better but not perfect. These to wouldn't fully release and would still drag a bit. I gave up on those and purchased OEM pads and right from the beginning, they fit like they should. Lesson learned, problem solved but ended up costing a lot more than if I had just gone OEM in the beginning. At least I had the good sense to go with OEM rotors...

  2. So what do the miss fire counts and fuel trim look like? Trying to determine if you have a cylinder 7 problem or an engine fueling problem. Correcting for tire size will change your MPG, calculated or truck computer. The odometer is off so the miles driven is not correct. Your 3 symptoms, pinging (pre-ignition combustion), detonation (post ignition combustion) and poor MPG's. The poor MPG's may not be as bad as you are thinking based on the odometer being off. How do you know you are getting detonation in V4 mode? The engine will have a different sound, compared to V8 mode, it will be more of a drone in V4 mode. I think the pinging is still tune related. Since you have no way to confirm whether the factory tune is the 'factory' tune or not, it may need to be seen by a professional tuner to investigate further. Generically speaking, a tune is going to be more aggressive with timing, too much = pinging. My recommendation at this point is to visit a reputable in person tuner. They would be able to determine if there is a tune problem and if not they would have the tools to better determine the problem.

  4. welcome to the forum! The flashing CEL indicates a misfire but without scan tool data you do not know which cylinder(s). So if it has been a while since the plugs were changed that is a good place to start. Other possibilities are ignition coil, plug wire, fuel injector and compression. Also check for a vacuum leak and get it scanned so you know which cylinder is acting up

  6. For those of you with trailer camera ports on your trucks. Those GM accessory cameras are $400. Here is how to make poor man's accessory trailer camera. I made mine for about $130 dollars. Attached is a pic of my invisible trailer working. You can customize your length of wire too unlike the gm one. Parts 1. Cable Fakra A 9005 Black Female R/A - DVB-T TV Female Cable Assemblies Item# FKR-TV-F/S-FAKRA/A-F/RA (search this item number on segemart) Cable Type: RG316 Length: 50 (you can order what ever length you want I bought 50ft). https://www.segemart.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=FKR-TV-F%2FS-FAKRA%2FA-F%2FRA 2. 360 type Camera- gm part number 23390514 https://www.ebay.com/itm/front-camera-blazer-silverado-sierra-2019-gm-oem-23390514-84179367-360/193620949316 3. Drill a hole in the mount bracket so the camera connector port with fit in a way where you can epoxy glue the camera to the mount. 2. Epoxy glue camera to the mount bracket. 3. Cut casing in half and drill a hole in the thick side for the camera lens to fit in. Use another half piece as a cover for the back. You can epoxy glue these onto the mount or use a thin long screw and nut to connect 2 casing shells. 4. Connect camera wire, cover wire with wire conduit and electrical tape and run line using adhesive tape and ties to hold up. 5. On the truck end of the camera you will can make a plug end over to slide over top the DVB plug end with PVC pipe. I put the DVB plug inside a PCV pipe and epoxy glued the back side in. I dremmeled 2 slits in the PVC pipe so connector would fit in port(see pictures)

  7. Just wanted to start a thread about these steps since I didn't see one yet. Decided to upgrade my side steps to these from AMP (Powerstep Xtreme). Overall these are great, drop automatically when either front or back door is opened (each side of the truck is separate), has a 2 second delay after closing the door & has built in LED’s to help at night. 8. I like my long bed with the crew cab. Longer wheelbase = smoother ride and less front end lift when towing. I even made the truck about 10" longer with heavy duty steel bumpers and a grille guard. I spend most of my time in the countryside and don't have to worry too much about tight places. But if I find myself at a store with it I usually park in the rear of the lot to avoid issues. I've learned to adapt to the length. If I really need a smaller vehicle though, I have one. This truck isn't my only vehicle. To each his own.

  9. My tailgate is in a crate because I have a camper installed, and my memory was incorrect. The owner’s manual confirms what you wrote, that the upper button on the tailgate is for the inner tailgate. I’ll edit my previous message.

  10. I would think “You clearly built it wrong,” would trump calendar and miles, unless you or a previous owner modified that area. If the dealer won’t help try contacting the GM ombudsman, and copy your state attorney general’s office. “Warranty of merchantability” is the phrase you want to use repeatedly.

  12. I put my truck on the ramps. Then jack up the rear pumpkin and put the rear axles on jack stands and level the truck right out. Then just change the oil and filter and refill it.

  13. I'm 6'7", almost 300 lbs, and I have never had an issue changing the oil with the truck on the ground. I just get on the ground and slide under it. Then again, I can also easily refill the oil even with the truck on ramps, lol. Its a blessing and a curse

  17. I'll try and snap a pic. It wasn't my own inepitiude in installing. I could get in "in place" in about 10 seconds. but the bracket wasn't lined up with the 2'oclock bellhousing stud, and the tube was almost touching the firewall, hence why I suspected the tube was bent/ damaged at one point. I just had to tweak it a bit to get it to sit right and then all was fine.

  18. To clarify, I regularly go on longer drives to visit friends, family; do side jobs, errands, etc on almost a weekly basis. Its just Monday through Friday is typically to work and back. Also, I attribute this largely to the huge tempurature swings we have. In the last month, its gone from -10 to 75 degrees, with most days swinging back and forth between freezing temps and warmer. I know this generates way more condensation than the heat of summer, or even the dead cold of winter alone as our family car does the same thing. My example above is just a worst case scenario because of the time of year and climate here.

  19. Installed the BT diesel Autosync and did the thermostat bypass on the transmission of the 2018. Also Installed a wireless Android Auto box and wireless fast charger. And hid the radio antenna under the hood and made a wire to hook it back up.

  20. I had a similar problem on a 20 year old Chevy Silverado. After replacing everything else the only thing left was the brake lines to the calipers. It threw me off because it was both at the same time.

  22. Behind the back of the steps on the corners of your rear bumper. You can't see them from the outside. The step material must allow them to detect objects through them. If you get under the truck and look up behind the bumper you should be able to see them, or the wire harness that connects to them.

  24. I have a friend who's family owns a frame and wheel shop. Last time I was there he had a 2003 or 2004 Colorado on the lift. Looked like a decent older truck, he walked me over to it and the frame was completely roached. What seemed like a decent older truck was scrap due to the frame rusting so badly. Around here road salt is a religion.

  27. Although I dont have another truck to compare it to I ordered my 2021 3500 srw with the Z71 and the camper front springs. My guess would be that the unloaded ride was a little stiffer but thats not an issue for me. I grew up with the straight axle trucks in the 70's so a stiff ride doesnt bother me. I towed a 12k fifth wheel on several long trips and I thought it handled it pretty well. I dont think the heavy front springs help much with a fifth wheel though but I ordered my 2024 with them mostly for resale due to the increase in capacity. As far as the Z71, I bought that on both trucks due mostly to the skids plates. I have no frame of reference on the difference in the shocks between the std and the Rancho. All in all I thought it rode pretty well, so well I ordered the exact same setup on my 2024.

  30. I have also installed the B4600s. Certainly noticed less 'movement' both loaded and empty. I much prefer the ride over the stock shocks. Huge difference when towing the RV.

  31. I had the Corsa on my '14 - same comments as above - the first cold start in the garage worried me about the volume. It quickly settles down with the idle speed. Zero drone, when the AFM kicked in, it did sound a bit odd (helicopter, Subaru, whatever) but when you were on it, it sounded SO great - in tunnels or next to a passenger side wall of a building was awesome too. Highway cruising at 80, you'd never really know you had an exhaust with the windows up, but you're only turning 2000 rpms, too. I ordered another Corsa for my '23 Sunday - impatiently waiting...

  32. Thanks folks. After long consideration, I decided on the Linkswell Gen5 12.1". Thanks to MikeBMW for his recommendation of ADC Mobile. I called Walt a couple times and he was very helpful. Yesterday, I spoke to him and he said the units were in stock again. I ordered last night. I guess I'm old school. I wanted a "built-in" looking unit. The "floating screen" just doesn't appeal to me. Most of the Crutchfield offerings are floating screen style, in the larger (9-11") screens. Options I ordered were the Bose adapter, Denali trim, front camera, upgrade rear, right side camera, anti-glare screen protector. I was reluctant to give up the OEM HVAC controls, since they are very intuitive and minimize distraction to operate. The Linkswell moves HVAC control to the screen, but does have some basic push-buttons along the sides of the screen. I'll post back when it arrives.

  33. So, I was in the same situation, been sitting on a T-style replacement that kept all the options(dynamic parking guide, steering wheel control, OEM options menu, XM, Onstar) I was looking at the Linkswell gen 5, but I didn't want to also buy the BOSE adapter, but I was running separate amp anyways, so might have not needed it. Saw a post of some guy on FB group that installed the one @PAPER posted about, msg that guy some questions and ordered it. Liking it so far, everything works for me. I really wanted the Linkswell.. but the price and extra adapter(if I really needed it) was way more than what I bought this one for. I think Linkswell and Phoenix has more system settings you can mess with compared to this one(might have hidden certain options in the menus), as long as all the stuff work, wasn't too worried about that part(yet). But this also had more RAM/Storage(8GB/128GB). I had bought the multi-cam(Rosta) from Walt when he first started selling it. Luckily, he lives about 30/mins away from me :). and that still works when I go into the Console part if I ever need to use it again. I used it all the time. I think you can buy a 360 add on kit for this unit, might check it out. Need to order the HD backup camera. Here's the unit installed in my truck. Going to vinyl wrap the trim parts like I did with my OEM trim. That black is too glossy for my taste. More picture in the other thread/post: What have you done to your K2 today I installed Nova Launcher as I didn't like the 2 launcher that came with it. Netflix/Disney+/Youtube/Amazon Video all works.

  34. I bought a Fakra connector from Pasternack. Get one with a RG-59 cable. These are the connectors that plug into the back of the camera. The other end I crimped a weatherproof F-connector on. You could crimp one of the PAL connectors advertised above on the end if you use the stock GM bumper / trailer camera connector. Or, you could buy a PAL to F connector adapter. I have an aftermarket bumper, magnetic EZ-connector, etc so I just have F-connectors installed on the cables. I just received some weatherproof surface mount F-connectors with screw-on covers that I will be using when I have time for the installation. I'm really busy with my work right now, I work 7 days and 1 night a week so my time to work on truck / trailer / camper / etc is extremely limited. When I get this installed permanently I will take and post a few pictures.

  36. That is why it is important to notify NHTSA because they can force GM to issue a recall. GM won't do it on their own
    1 point
  37. Of course they would stick it in a tsb and make owners have to go through locking up their back tires driving 50+ on the highway, and then play the what is wrong game with their dealers! A safety recall which is what this should be, would then make GM notify and cover the cost for customers!

  38. Swapped the Ranchos for Fox 2.0 front and back. Front set to lift 2 inches, 1 1/2 inch block added to the rear. I’m now at 40 inches on all fenders plus the ride is much more to my liking. Now to adjust the headlights.
