  2. Well, finally got around to towing with the new rig. At 1100 miles, I changed oil to Redline and a WIX filter so I could really throw some heat at the ol' L8T and 10 speed this week. First leg of towing was getting our TT inspected/registered before our 750 mile round trip to Arkansas this weekend. This was just a 40 mile trip in town today. Also got the camper washed :). I hooked up to our camper and set off. My oh my.... is this 10 speed everything I want out of the truck. Seemless upshifts and downshifts with outstandingly stable downshifts coming to a stop. Getting up to speed is infinitely easier on hills, and making passes on the interstate was a breeze. Transmission stayed at 178 degrees or so while driving in 92 degree blazing heat up and down hills and city driving. I was idling for 30 minutes at the truck wash where the transmission temp spiked to 185 degrees - but then quickly came down once I had some air flowing through the front. My take on the new allison versus the 6L90 since I've owned both and towed extensively with my 2021 gasser... the 10 speed is outstanding and a game changer for folks like me wanting to tow 10-13k lbs on hilly terrain. If I had a 6 speed gasser would I quick run to the stealership to trade mine in? Absolutely not. If you ask me, the star of the show is the L8T. This engine is impressive and stout. The 10 speed just puts the L8T in its powerband quicker for certain scenarios towing and we still don't have long-term data backing the reliability of this 10 speed.

  3. I knew it was sold in Dubai and Mexico, and it is also sold here in Saudi Arabia. Took a few pictures. I am not a fan of two door trucks, I like spacious interiors so I stick with four doors.

  4. So I'll try to give a non-biased overview with my 2014 GMC Sierra with almost 123,000 miles. Honestly, when problems occur with this truck, it is usually very small inconveinences that - while annoying - are very cheap and can be fixed in my driveway (and I'm no mechanic). Leaking 3rd brake light? $17 gasket. Radiator fan not turning off? $55 thermostat. 6L80 running hot? $60 thermal bypass valve. Occasionally there's some weird electrical gremlins like the infamous "Service Trailer Brake" and for a little while I was getting a bad catalytic converter code, but these usually reappear at random like a day or two a year and then I never see them again. I did have the leaking radiator and cooling lines issue and that cost me a ton of money and, I won't lie, it made me a little bit frightened by the truck. However, besides that one issue which was years ago at this point, it's been mechanically sound and has more than paid for itself. Across my entire duration of ownership, I have barely spent any money fixing this vehicle Cosmetically, the onyx black paint is in incredible condition and the interior is the same as it was when I got the vehicle. Unfortunately, the frame is pretty ugly and despite my best efforts my rocker panels are rotting away However, if I were to fix the rockers right now, there would be no corrosion on the body.

  5. My stock tires are Michelins. I love all my redwings. I will only buy the made in USA ones though. Lots of Chinese ones nowadays.

  6. My favorite at home is a local family owned. They serve all the favorites. My favorite from them is fried shrimp and a loaded bake potato. A few family Mexican and Chinese all good. Pizza and Italian a New York transplant. Of course barbecue is well represented. A monthly trip to Waco through Hearn TX a family restaurant that has the best catfish I’ve ever had. We limit ourselves to once a week out for our waistline. All the chains are represented around us. My wife’s a great cook, and enjoys cooking. But she gets that once a week break.

  7. Unfortunately the Quarter Pounder is the only edible burger at McDonalds. Their regular little patties sit in the warmers so long they are old enough to legally drive my truck home. Wendy’s is my choice though. Love pretty much everything they have. Even the salads.

  8. Shaun, Thank you for posting your knocking problem and especially for your follow through. I am experiencing the same issues. The video you posted was spot on! I knew better than trying to drive it but I was just as cautious in running the engine at idle to isolate the sound. I’m new to the forum and I’m grateful to all who shared their experiences and processes of troubleshooting. I’ll perform my due diligence and ask in advance for any counsel available. “Put me in coach!”

  9. Truth. As they got wealthier, the whole cast became more smug. Roman and his kid are the worst part of the channel.

  10. And yes, TFL trying to take down his videos without even contacting him directly first, is a disgustingly petty thing to do. I can't believe they feel that threatened. I'd like to say I unubscribed after hearing that, but I had already unsubscribed long ago after that first 6.6 gasser test they did a few years ago. I do watch a few here and there with Andre/Nathan. Roman needs to walk away from that channel, I refuse to watch anything with him in it.

  12. When we go to Fayetteville we use McDonald’s for egg McMuffin. Usually my wife knows where the 5$ menus are for fast food. I usually gravitate towards some kind of chicken sandwich. It’s seems thats where the competition is with fast food. My wife had a Chick-fil-A app sometimes that’s handy but not on Sunday. Bacon, thick sliced when I indulge. I believe Aldi's is our brand.

  13. He absolutely did. But I disagree with you concerning Roman, he comes into the videos looking like he just rolled out of bed. I mean come on man!! He could at least buy a comb or take a damn shower before he gets into those videos. He has no respect for himself and the others there are paying for it..and I bet they know that too!

  15. It would have been nice for TFL to contact the guy in the first place, instead of going over his head to YouTube. Oh well, that’s all I have on this subject. He made a new video that said something like “DA I.k.e” now so he’s playing games with TFL now.

  16. I guess I'm behind the times sir. I'm not a business man at all. I keep commercial aircraft in the air with my knowledge. But I still think it's an over the top thing. Quick story, I have a very deep voice, I tried to get into the world of voiceovers 20 years ago, even had the mother of a very famous DJ here in Atlanta that was promoting me to her son. He was like nope...he told her I could take food off his table....the world of entertainment left me high and dry that day. I never did pursue it after that, probably should have but never did. But I can't believe TFL was so worried about this guy. So he beat them to it, who cares. So he may get a few thousand views while they will get 100k to a million views....

  17. Much Thanks! Removing this connector was way harder than it should have been. Sliding that long stick over until it clicked was not obvious, because it flexed so much, I didn't realize that it actually clicked open at some point. GM needs a free video course on all of their "quick-release: connector types.

  18. In the first picture, You can see how the mudflap looks WITHOUT the metal bracket, that used to be there. The aqua color indicates where I used the screws to secure the mudflap. I also trimmed the wheel liner, indicated by the red line. This is trial and error. Online you'll see some people just chop the plastic mudflap in half. I wanted to take out as little as possible. So after a few tries, this is what I ended up with. You can see in the first picture how it looks, it still looks like a mudflap and the bottom splash guard is still there. For the front, same thing. The plastic piece that I cut, is only used to hold the wheel liner in place. Again, online people just cut the whole thing is half, I just cut what needed to be cut. I used one original mounting area for the screw and then used a self tapping screw at the other mark. I did this a process a few times that day. I would modify and then put the tire on. I would check around and see what's rubbing when its on the ground. I also took it for a drive few times and make sure there were no rubs when turning or going over bumps when the suspension is compressed. Also I used this Milwaukee Oscillating tool

  21. Well that's one subscription I just removed from youtube. I really did like their stuff, I had no idea they were that pissy. Maybe I should send them a case of Bud Light, perhaps they will enjoy that. Oh and I'm sure I can find some stuff from Target and Northface to send them as well. Money well spent...

  23. Would have liked to see it compared with a 3.73 geared Ford instead of the 3.55 gears for a more apples to apples comparison but still good to see

  24. So I watched both videos. I did see how the Ford hunted a little more, but part of me wonders if that's because it had more power so it actually could upshift at times whereas the 6.6 had nothing left to give. I will say they both look pretty well matched, I think the 7.3 has a little more power from what I can see but it's also noisier. In the end though I'd never use CC up a hill like that. I'd probably also find a trucker to hunker down behind if he was going 50+, and just take it nice and easy. I don't see why saving 1 minute or two up that hill is so important, the rest of the truck matters very much more than saving some seconds up some random hill.

  26. The service tire monitor system light kept coming on, we would take it to discount tire and they would get the light to come off but then it would come back on in a few days, the fix I found in the video I made below has kept the light off for over a month.
