Very nice setup. Premium camper + Premium Truck

Won’t fit in my garage either but it has a nice shady spot in the driveway. I really wanted the 6’6” bed and crew cab. Kills me it’s outside but I keep the bird poop off, bi weekly washes, etc. Looking for a 22’ carport to shelter from the occasional once every 10 year hail storm. The T1xx are even longer and even a crew shortbed wouldn’t fit in a 228” 19’ garage. I really like the looks of the T1XX GMC HD. Just don’t need that much truck. When they add the 10 speed to the 6.6 gas I’ll have to take a long test drive.

Rims from different years fit for 2014-2018 Truck?
2018GMC replied to MickeyL's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
Thanks! Trailer is a 7x14 enclosed with rear ramp door. My Honda pioneer 1000-5 just barely fits due to height of 76” I cut in 3 double pane camper windows I bought off eBay and the trailer came with the camper door. It’s my lightweight toy hauler and camper without amenities. Lol better than a tent ? ? 1400lbs trailer weight empty 1700lbs 2017 Honda pioneer 1000-5 3100lbs total without camping gear. -

2009 GMT900 17” wheels on my 2018. One set of stick on wheel weights fit in front with just barely enough clearance for caliper. Rear there is plenty of room between caliper and 17” wheel. -
That’s a fair price for just wheels. That is a very common wheel design. FYI these will fit 1988 - 2018 6 lug Chevrolet GMC Truck, SUV, Van, etc. GMT400 1988 - 1999 GMT800 1999 - 2007 GMT900 2007 - 2013 K2XX 2014 - 2018

Thanks for the detailed reply. Crazy what issues can creep up with a weak battery on these trucks.

I don’t miss my 2018 K2xx because I still own it! It’s paid off, the hard to find (in my area) crew cab standard bed max tow 4wd 6.2 with Denali cluster. The late build K2xx options like Automatic HID headlights, automatic low speed braking and lane keep assist. 1900lb payload and 11,700lb tow rating is way more than enough for me currently. Tows my 4klb enclosed trailer with UTV like it’s barely there. Only has 12k miles. Been pretty much problem free. Bumper to bumper warranty is up March 2021. I plan on keeping it unless it gives me major problems or the next redesign is amazing or has something I can’t live (want) without. When GM finally adds Super cruise and an interior redesign it *may* entice me to trade in. Definitely something to be said about a paid off problem free truck.

I’m not excited to replace mine when the time comes. I will prob go for a Walmart / sams AGM. Maybe north star if I feel like spending that much. Has optima improved since the mid 2000’s? I know when they moved production out of the USA people complained the batteries weren’t as good and didn’t last as long. What model and brand of replacement battery did you install? Any odd behavior with dying battery or it just wouldn’t start?

Powertrain Out-of-Warranty Inquiry
2018GMC replied to Ge0rge's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
6-speed or 8-speed? If it is the 8-speed a fluid exchange may help as the factory fill fluid is hydroscopic and slowly absorbs water which will cause torque converter issues. -
? about defect spot in brand new black trailboss
2018GMC replied to garymcel's topic in 2019-2023 Silverado & Sierra
My 2018 has a piece of dirt or flake in the paint but it’s where the anti chip paint is on rocker panel. I can live with that vs taking it in and hope they don’t overspray my door or scratch good paint. One thing I don’t like on K2xx and t1xx is the new door design with the rocker exposed. You now see the rocker where people drug their foot getting in and out which makes minor scuffs and scratches. The older design had the door cover this area so you only see it when doors open. 3M clear bra won’t stick to the anti chip paint. I constantly remind my family to not step on the paint! the the plastic door sill and then the ground. -

See if dealer will repaint. If they won’t fix to your satisfaction contact GM and that should get the ball rolling. I hate going to the dealer for issues as well, not impressed with my dealers at all but if you can’t live with it then definitely take it in while you have bumper to bumper warranty. once 3yr 36k miles is up your living with it. -
Bilstein 5100 will raise front 2” and gives you an extra 1” of front end travel. No need to change any components, uses stock spring, control arms etc. Take a look at fox and king for larger lifts. Bilstein 6112 is a larger diameter shock with new coil spring. https://www.shocksurplus.com/pages/bilstein-6112-vs-fox-2-0-performance-coilovers-the-need-to-know

$700 with 800 miles on 265/65/18 Goodyear fortitude HT. Thought that was a great deal since the tires alone cost that. They are not aggressive off road but I wanted a summer set of tires and these supposedly do ok in some snow. All season. I have a set of 33” BFG ko2 on 17” wheels when I want off road look / winter. People asking $1300 - $1500 for AT4 takeoffs with Goodyear DuraTrac tires.

Looks good. I got oem AT4 18” wheels and tires off Craig’s.

I have sunroof on previous gen K2xx. No issues. Got it tinted with dark tint and leave it closed but shade open all the time. Gives the cabin a more open and brightens it up a bit. I have heard of sharkfin antenna leaking and rear windows leaking but not sunroofs. Have a 92 accord with sunroof, no issues still works great. Friend has an 03 suburban with sunroof. No issues.

Yes on stability although a few more inches in wheelbase you prob won’t notice. Payload is slightly less because the truck weighs more vs short bed. I like the look and function of the longer bed. Can fit a dirt bike with tailgate closed, etc

Battling cooling issues

^ This My 2018 SLT crew cab 6.2L 4wd 6'6" standard bed Max Tow package weighs 5700lbs and is rated at 11,800lbs. Doubt I would ever want to tow that much. I regularly tow a 7x14 enclosed that weighs in at 3500lbs loaded. That is no problem at all. I'd be comfortable towing up to 7500 - 8000lbs with sway control and weight distribution hitch. -
Truck has 4 different errors

I occasionally see service stabilitrak after starting. Once in awhile get a service safety restraint system. 3/36 warranty is up March 2021. Local GMC dealer just shut its doors... -

Damn, that was a hit. Glad everyone walked away. What was the other driver in? Had to be well built since they walked away as well? Well wishes and be sure to post some pics of the replacement.

If this bothers you, don’t look at the Rear bottom corner of the crew cab doors. They stick out with a large gap by design. It’s also bothered me how the rain water just runs on part of the inner door plastic frame. To keep things in check, I just look at the gaps on my 1979 K10 and 1997 k1500. Wow, there isn’t a gap that matches on those generations. Now my 2018 looks amazing. GM has come a long way! I think they actually started caring about body panel gaps on the 2007.5 GMT900 generation and up. Before that it was “good enuf”. Cheers
