So can you "order one" or get your name on a list?
2018GMC replied to stlavsa's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
I would think GM would offer the 6.2 6speed on the Denali at launch. But all other trims have to wait until fall and rumor on the 8 speed is 2015. I think you made a good choice with the RAM. It's available to order now and you will be driving it in the next few months. RAM has really stepped up there game the past few years. Keep us (me at least) updated on your RAM when you get it -
and after 3 years / 36000 miles you are keeping that cracked dash :-(
-
So much for the trend on the cracking problem being only the SLE dash. lol
-
The trend looks like SLE dashes are cracking and the SLT / LTZ (SUV dash) is problem free at least with cracking anyway. Does anyone have a pic? I am deciding between the SLE / SLT dash since I can pretty much save 15K on buying a lightly used 2011 vs a new 2014 truck.

Nice, did you get the V6 or V8? You will have to upload some pics and share your thoughts when you take delivery. -
Are these dash problems only on the "Work Truck dash", "SLT / LTZ dash, or both?

I just checked with my local RAM dealer and you can order a Hemi and 8-speed NOW and take delivery in 8 -12 weeks. GM needs to hurry the F up! http://www.ramforumz.com/archive/index.php/t-130372.html -

What did you order? Hell, at least RAM has the hemi and 8 speed available NOW. Who knows when GM will get the 6.2 and 8 speed out. -
What do you all think? GMC Sierra Z71 CC 6.6' - Really want this truck when the 6.2 and 8-speed are available. I liked the white Silverado in the last link I posted. Hopefully details will be released at the Chicago Auto Show Feb 7th?

I think the front end is actually shorter compared to the GMT900. When you look under the hood of a gas GMT 900 there is a lot of extra room in the engine compartment. Look under the hood of the new trucks and the engine bay is filled up. I am curious to see the HD's since the duramax was stuffed in the engine bay of the GMT900's.

Chevy Silverado 2014 and GMC Sierra 2014
2018GMC replied to joshw1303's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
ChevyTech77 thanks for the info. I am wondering if all the trucks will come with 6 speed and the Denali with 8 speed. That's how Gm did the last model rollout with 6 speeds not being available on all trucks until 2009 almost 2 years after launch. But the 6-speed was avail on Denali models at launch. -
What would you ask Jeff Luke or Kenn Bakowski?
2018GMC replied to Zane's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
GM will say this is due to honoring their "heritage". GM has had a love affair with square wheel wells for a looooonnng time. Notice how the GMC wheel wells look like larger versions of the Terrain.- 56 replies

Where the hell are the 8-speeds and the HD's?? When they offer a 6.2 and 8-speed I will buy unless the HD's are just so bada$$ I have to upgrade to one of those. Please include a button to turn off AFM. A performance / ECO button, so if you want to hot rod around on all 8 cylinders all the time, you can. Maybe the tow/haul button does this.- 56 replies

Thoughts on first tow with new 6.2L
2018GMC replied to marpel's topic in Trailers, Hitches, & Towing
+1 I agree that towing with a half ton and diesel is a much different experience. When towing with a half ton you definately notice that you have a trailer hooked up. Towing with a diesel, sometimes you have to look in the rear view mirror to remind yourself that you have a heavy trailer attached . I bet that altitude was a big factor. Diesels do well in higher altitude because they are turbocharged. Yes, they still loose some HP & torque but not even close to the percentage of loss a natrually aspriated engine will experience. Using the equation below. HP at 0ft (sea level) - 403HP HP at 6000 ft - 403 - 72.54 = 330.46HP HP at 8000ft - 403 - 96.72 = 306.28HP HP at 10000ft - 403 - 120.9 = 282.10HP hp loss = elevation x 0.03 x hp @ sea level 1000 -
FYI - You can now "customize a 2014 Silverado" http://www.chevrolet...kup-trucks.html You can see different trims, colors, etc. Nothing on the GMC site like this, yet... FYI - "6.2 available Fall 2013" - I would think that you could at least get it in a Denali but not in regular trims until Fall?

Chevy Silverado 2014 and GMC Sierra 2014
2018GMC replied to joshw1303's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
maybe at the... Detroit Auto Show - JANUARY 14-27, 2013 -
Looks like there is only one dash in all trucks. The material on the dash can change (stitched vs non stitched and aluminum accents) but no more "truck" or "SUV premium" dash option. http://www.leftlanen...erado-2014.html Inner trappings Inside, the truck will use just one dashboard design instead of the two offerings currently available. The new dashboard features a large 4.2 or 8 inch central display, depending on the model. The infotainment system's software is the same MyLink system used in most new Chevrolet passenger cars and some crossovers. Below the display sits a trio of climate control knobs that replace the small buttons currently used on uplevel versions of the trucks.

I bet there isn't two interiors anymore because if there was you think they would have been proud of that and announced it at the unveiling. One thing I am bothered about is the braces under the hood. Did they shave so much weight off that they need the braces?
