  1. hi guys, I recently discovered damage to the air deflector on my truck, and want to replace it. I did some searching and found the exact part for $298, but found the GM version to be significantly cheaper at $56. Will the GM part bolt up to my truck without any issues? Any reason to pay $230 more for the chevy version? chevy part: https://www.gmpartsonline.net/oem-parts/gm-bumper-filler-84029800 gm: https://www.gmpartsonline.net/oem-parts/gm-air-deflector-23381985 thank you for taking the time to handle my request.
  2. Hi, I'm pretty new to this website. Came across it when I was looking for an answer to my problem . . . I don't know too much about trucks.. cars....4 wheel vehicles. I just bought this 06 crew cab 1500 silverado 4.3L had about 80k miles on it. I actually noticed the sound when I was test driving it from the dealer. Now it has about 101k miles and noise is still the same. it makes a rattling noise, almost like a metal noise at LOW rpms only. Doesn't matter if its 35 or 75mph. Have to be cruising like slight amount of acceleration. Sounds like its coming from the engine.. I checked a bunch of forums all saying different things. my truck is stock, as far as i know.. one of the forums mentioned it could bea bad alternator, but I have no clue. any help? Sorry I'm a complete noob. Ivy
  3. Hi, I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with the 5' 8" box. I know during 2007 they changed the style slightly, so I'm wondering if a canopy that is currently on a 2008 1500 crew cab (5' 8") would still work? I know the fit wouldn't be exactly perfect, but has anyone had first hand experience trying this or seen it done? I'd greatly appreciate it if you could let me know how it went if so! Looking at the box sizes they're very close (attached photo), but I wonder with the slight style change how it would sit/mount. I've been in need of one for a while but tight on money and they're tricky to find used in my area, one just became available and I'm hoping to pick it up if it would work. If anyone has seen it done where a 2007-2013 canopy has went on the classic style I would love to hear about it and how it fit. Thanks!
  4. My 2017 sierra 1500 5.3 V8 threw p0500 and p050d. Took truck into service and mechanic recommend replacement of all 8 fuel injectors. Every cylinder reported a history of both codes. With policy calculator, job was quoted at 1,200. Mechanic explained that injectors could be one of three potential part numbers but they could not know until they did the disassembly. One possible part number is on a 3 month back order. How is it possible they do not know the part number before the tear down??
  5. GM has available now factory camper mirrors! Time for a nice run down on them and what is involved. What they are: Factory tow mirrors. https://accessories.chevrolet.com/product/extended-view-tow-mirrors-in-black-84731241?year=2020&make=Chevrolet&model=Silverado%201500&categoryId=98023 Price? Part #? 84731241 is the #, MSRP for the mirror package is $730. What do they feature? Includes lower convex spotter glass, as well as cargo lamps, clearance lamps and integrated turn signal indicator. Manual extend and manual fold. The good: -GM has factory tow mirrors available as an accessory for trucks that don't have them! The bad: - 2020+up ONLY at the moment. They do NOT list them for 2019. - They DO REQUIRE HARNESS SWAPS. Both front doors require new door harnesses. - If you have the front spotter lights in the mirrors or have blind spot alert, THESE WILL NOT WORK! - BCM calibration required for ALL models to make all lighting function. If you have the dealer do it, its about 3.6 hours. Harness numbers will be listed below: 2020-2021 Crew and Double Cab with KEYED ignition and DLF mirror: 84622369 and 84622370 2020-2021 Regular Cab with KEYED ignition and DLF mirror: 84622376 and 84622380 2020-2021 Crew and Double Cab with PUSH BUTTON ignition and DLF mirror: 84622371 and 84622372
  6. Okay, i recently bought a 2in leveling kit for my 2017 silverado 1500 ltz and ive been doing some research before i get put on. i keep seeing people saying that you need to replace your shocks with larger one? and suspension system? Is this really true for just a 2in leveling kit? and if so how big of shocks do i need and what suspension parts need upgraded too..
  7. I might be able to get my hands on a free 2011 Chevy 1500 with a 4.3, which I think is the LU3. The only issue is that the engine was starved of oil, and its done. I have an old 4.3 out of a 2000 GMC Jimmy which I think is an L35? correct me if i'm wrong. would I be able to interchange parts off of each other to make 1 good engine that would work without too many modifications? It needs to be cheap as I am too broke to be doing this in the first place. Any help would be great, Thanks!
  8. So about a week ago, I got the "Left rear indicator failure" I figured it was just a bulb. So I put it off for a couple days. However, this Saturday I decided to change out the bulbs. Well the bulbs are good and also the fuses. I checked the wires that come from the junction box and they where all good. Any idea what it could be? The running lights work, but when it comes to stoping and the turn signal I get nothing. This shit is driving me crazy. This is what I've been told: - I need a new Junction Box. - I need to replace the fuse box in the engine bay Please help, thanks for anything!
  9. Chevrolet silverado 2017 1500 crew cab My truck was lifted 4inch from pro comp, 2 years ago someone slammed into me on the drivers side and got everything fixed with no issues at all. Last month decided to got for a baja kit mid travel kit with king 3.0 and that is when all the problems started. To do the swap i had to weld on a new cross member and buy a couple of other factory parts to fit the kit which i did. Since than the car has not been the same, after a week my differential gears and 4x4 broke ( was driving very harshly tho), also got the car aligned at a couple of shops and still every time i turn the 4 wheel drive on the steering wheel rattles and pulls to the right also a week after the bushing for the left upper control arm got damaged and the wheel/tire was shaking. i got a set of 37's and the guys at the shop told me that the right tire fits no problem however the left one was rubbing bad from the inner fender and you cant turn a full left turn, they took the measurements of the right and left wheel/tire position and informed me that the front left tire is 2inch behind the front right tire and this might be a chassis issue. called the shop that fixed my car when i got into an accident to double check and he said we did not see any damages or dents on the frame/chassis of the car. I will go to body shop later today to get it checked out but would be great if i could get help from you guys on where i should look. i am from the middle east, we have good workshops and mechanics but i have been running around from shop to shop and non of them could diagnose or resolve the issue. Would be great if you guys can help me list everything that might cause the left tires to be 2 inches off and i will go through all of them till i can diagnose and fix the issue. i love my truck so much and would never even think about selling it. saved up for a long time to get the mid travel kit and never really was able to enjoy it.
  10. I’m at my wits end over this I’m not sure if it’s been discussed on here yet but I’m having a serious problem with my truck going into limp mode at random. I have a 2007 GMC Sierra, SLT, Z71 (newer body style) It runs fine for weeks, sometimes even months. Out of nowhere it’ll go into limp mode with these dash warnings: ”engine power reduced” ”traction control off” ”service traction control” ”service stabilitrack” Readings are: P2138 C0242 C0899 C0900 I replaced the engine due to a cam and lifter problem about 3 yrs ago. The truck started acting up about a month after the engine was replaced. The engine is still under warranty. -I’ve changed the gas pedal sensor. -I’ve changed the throttle body and throttle positioning sensor. -I’ve changed the electronic control module (ECM) -I’ve changed the electronic brake control module (EBCM) -I’ve even replaced the battery cables -I’ve added a new ground wire, thinking I had a bad ground somewhere. - I’ve checked and cleaned all connections into the throttle body, gas pedal, and all the plug ins I could see and get to. I had a guy tell me to look at the brake booster and possibly change that. It might be leaking or something. I’m not sure if that’s accurate advice and I haven’t done anything to the brake booster. Other than fooling with the brake booster, I’ve literally done everything I know to do except change the entire wiring harness!!! I don’t want to do that though. I love the truck and I don’t want to sell it but Im tired of putting money into it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m on the verge of pushing it off of a tall cliff! help! - James
  11. Hey all, we're a local Chevy dealer with a strong ecommerce presence. We have the lowest prices on the Kicker subwoofer package for the 2014+ Silverado & Sierra Crew & Double/Extended Cab sizes. Installation does not require dealer install. it is a plug and play package. We have guaranteed low prices that shouldn't be beat! GM offers a few versions of these units: -Double Cab and Crew Cab models have different parts numbers -GM offers just a sub upgrade, or the sub upgrade plus amplifier on the door speakers. *The standard Sub upgrade works with the Bose system. *The kit including Sub plus Amp on the door speakers will NOT work with Bose systems. Buy cheap, sell cheap is the name of the game ***
  12. Trying to sell my 22in Factory black wheels off my 18 Silverado. They come with Goodyear Fortera tires. 285/45/22. Both wheels and tires only have 12k miles on them. Pick up about 40 miles from Chicago IL. $1500OBO
  13. Hi and thanks to take the time to read my story. I just bought a Silverado 1500 6 cil. Mod. 2007 Everything works great except the gearbox make the trrrrrr noise when I engage the third shift. All other works great. I also feel that the clutch is a bit hard to press... I need more muscle or it's normal. The first and the reverse engage without trouble. Tomorrow I will check the oil inside the transmission. Thanks for your help.... Mateo
  14. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum but I have been doing my research on the new generation of gm half ton trucks. Long story short, I was in a very bad car accident back in December, I came out of a small acura tsx 6 speed (5 star crash safety rating) which is the reason I'm alive. Ive been looking pretty consistently at 2013+ rams, and the 2014+ gmc sierras and chevy silverados. I really like the styling of the new sierras and silverados but I have been reading threads regarding lots of issues that they seem to be plagued by. I wanted to see if anyone can voice a long term perspective on the 14's. From what I've been reading it looks like theres a lot of lemons out there. As far as configurations, I'd want to have 4wd, the 5.3 power plant and a crew/quad cab option. I would mainly be using the truck to commute to and from school. I'm 19 and go to school full time with two jobs on the side, needless to say I don't make enough money to be fixing a lemon if I get stuck with one. I need a truck that can last me at least 5-8 years thats safe and somewhat decent on gas. Thank you -Nick
  15. I have a 2018 1500 Silverado, was going to order headlights for it but the ones I like are titled for 2500’s and 3500’s, I was just wondering if they’re able to bolt onto my 1500 and look correct
  16. Any one have a clue why my 2005 silverado pukes all the coolant out the overflow hose from the coolant tank once the engine warms up ?
  17. whats good guys? so last weekend my 4wd in my 2017 1500 silverado got busted. Guys in the showroom said it overheated and stuff got busted in the transfer case. replaced the whole transfer case + actuator. Just got a phone call saying that 4wd button is not working and not switching from 2wd 4 hi and 4 lo. When it stopped working was stuck in nasty mud and really pushed the truck trying to get out, one of my buddies noticed that only the rear tires were moving and the truck was set to 4hi. tried turning the knob and nothing changed stayed on 4hi and got a service 4wd message that. Now with the new transfer case and actuator guy at the dealership say still the issue is present car is not switching and the light is stuck on 4wd. note: not from the states and the guys at the dealership seem to know less than i do about cars. Can you guys point me in the right direction on what i should advise them to check? or what might be the issue ? where they should look? etc Thank you !
  18. Hey guys, I'm having a real tough time with my 2013 chevrolet silverado 4.8L V8 the engine is an L20 Vortec. I'm getting all these nasty fault codes and they are intermittent and usually start acting up when I'm driving in the city. When the engine is warm and I stop in traffic, or hit a crawl speed. The truck normally kicks into "limp mode" and all these fault codes start up ex. P2544 ( regularly) P150C, P069E, and recently P0700. now there is a list of communication codes, but normally its U0073, U0100, and U0109. I've gone to a few auto shops and they kinda said god luck, The dealer had no idea what i was talking about, started with cleaning all my grounds, as well as my fuses, everything seems to be in order. My brother (who is a mechanic) seems to think my TCM is at fault and not working, but I'm hesitant to call that the problem because Im pretty sure its in my transmission which seems like a fairly big job. Everything else runs fine and there is no problems at all when the truck isn't acting up. Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm pretty desperate to fix this as I plan on taking it to Alaska in july
  19. 2016-2018 GMC Sierra Elevation grille that's been professionally painted black. This is a brand new OEM grille. I bought it from a member on here, but also decided to go with a different grille. The grille itself looks fantastic, the only reason for going with another grille is I have seen another truck identical to mine with the same grille, and I want to have something different... $500 shipped. Only asking what I paid for it. Current location: 54016 Thanks!
  20. Im currently thinking on which lift i wanna get im definitely going with a bds 4 inch lift kit On my 2018 1500 . But whats the difference in ride quality between the normal one Which includes a whole new strut between the more expensive one which has fox coilovers and shocks?? and have any of yall ran either one and how did it feel?? Also can i fit 22x12s in a 4 inch ???
  21. Hi everyone, So since my purchase of a 2016 Silverado 1500 in May the main problem I've had with the truck is its inconsistent ride quality. The truck is a WT with power windows and locks. Cloth seats. And vinyl floor. The truck only has 27000 miles, well kept and maintained. Used as a commuter truck to work, aswell as work on the side (Electrician). Truck was purchased with only 22000 miles on it. No issues other than leaking pinion seal which is in the process of being fixed. At first I thought it was the tires so I had them balanced, rotated, and had an alignment done. While that helped it didnt fix the issue at hand which is how hard this truck drives It's a very uncomfortable ride at all speeds. Even on freshly paved highways and roads it still drives rough. What defines "rough" is the hitting of minor bumps. It can be just an ever so slight crack in the road to minor pits. I've done some testing and drove another vehicle (An f-150) down those same roads and had no where near as much of a impact and hit as my own truck. Now it's not a major impact like hitting something that you really shouldnt. But it's very unsettling and jarring at times as you would be driving the same roads you have been for years in different vehicles, and when you least expect it feel a nice jolt in your back when you usually wouldnt. If you need more understanding, put a handful of change in the compartment under the AC controls and drive around. I was wondering if it has anything to do with the stock suspension that comes along with the truck. Should I try out new shocks? Is there anything else I should try? I have no clue what to do and where to start but driving 45 minutes to work with the truck makes my back hurt as much as after an 8 hour day of work. Thanks
  22. I have a 99 GMC Sierra 1500 4X4 and i was wondering if there is a specific brand of o2 sensor that i need to use... because someone was telling me that i have to use OEM for this truck because they dont like NON-OEM o2 sensors. and that they act up and jump all over the place. this guy wanted to charge me $89.99 a plug as well... can someone please help me out with this i would greatly appreciate it...
  23. Hey everyone, So I had a shop that specialize in lawn equipment, and snow equipment install a Blizzard Plow on my 2017 Silverado 1500 just a few weeks ago. I took the blow off one day and when starting my truck, I noticed both y headlights would flicker for about 30 seconds or so. I took the truck back to the shop I got the plow put on and they said that I have aftermarket headlights, which I don't... I told them the headlights are factory LED's. So they ran some tests and got another plow module to see if it was the module doing it or what. Sure enough it did the same thing. They said they are going to contact GM about the issue. They haven't gotten back to me yet but before they do, I was just wanting to ask other plow owners if they have had this issue and what they or their shop did to fix the issue. I supplied a video (below) to show exactly what they are doing. Both headlights will do it but in the video, only that one head light does it.
  24. I have a grant steering wheel assembly, but I need more insight on how to install. Watched a bunch of videos but couldn't find a good one for what I doing.
