  1. Hi Guys, i got a 2016 4wd GMC sierra and it has stock suspension and it rides really bad the oem shocks are very soft and whenever i hit a bump the front keeps bouncing. so what do you guys recommend i'm trying to do a 4/6 drop if it is possible and replace the shocks with stiffer shocks why do you guys think ? which lowering kit and shocks should i get ? Thanks here is a side pic of the truck
  2. On my way home from work yesterday my truck started to vibrate on the highway from what seemed like my right front wheel. Then upon slowing down my steering wheel turned full on to the right by itself. There was also the smell of burnt rubber. I think it's the Brake Calipher. Any suggestions before this broke college kid shells out money for a diagnosis?
  3. I purchased these headers about a year ago and before I could get them installed started having issues with my 2016 Sierra and didnt want to give GM any reason to deny my powertrain claim. I have since had those issues resolved but decided to go a different route with my truck and thus these are for sale. Asking $750 obo plus the ride. Motivated seller as I would like to finish my G8. Thanks. These will fit both the 5.3 and 6.2 of the below listed vehicles. Note if you have the 6.2 you will have to expand the ball at the end of the connection pipe to fit. Thanks again. 2014-17 Silverado/Sierra2015-17 Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade
  4. Husky Liners VS Weather Tech Both are Max coverage floor liners, I bought the husky liners after seeing my buddies 2018 silverado with the weather tech liners. They Both are great in their own ways. I have some pro's and con's for both I paid 210.80 on amazon, I don't recall exactly what he paid for the Weather tech laser fit ones on their website its about 190 before shipping. Starting with the husky liners Pro's - Fit - I myself like the way that they fit, so much that i would say its perfect for me. They match the contour of the floors perfectly without coming up in any spots. - Material -They used a good material with a nice rubbery feel. Easy to remove and clean, Pull them out spray them off with water let them dry and their are back to looking brand new out of the box. - Stay Put Cleats - On both the driver and passenger side. The driver side has the factory "pop in" Holders that help keep them in place as well. Con's - Although they have the cleats to help keep them in place, The passenger side one does move around a little bit. - They also do not go as high up on the sides as the weather tech liners, This can be a Pro or a Con depending on what you are looking for. - If you have the Jump seat in the front they offer the liners in a 3 piece set to get full coverage of the hump in the center as well. I opted for no coverage on that but still, this could be a pro or a con again depending on what your looking for. I cannot speak for the weather tech liners, Since they are not in my daily driver. However I can say there is one con on the weather tech's. I noticed when I was riding in the other truck on the passenger side, The liner is supposed to hug the side, and it does not. Weather they had it packed and it bent the liner or what ever the case may be it doesn't fit properly now. and ill attach photos of both fronts and back. Overall Im happy with the husky liners and ill continue to purchase them. They work for me just well. Thanks for reading, If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message.
  5. Can you guys offer any suggestions or tips before I go to stealership? '16 Sierra Denali, 40,100 miles. I bought it 3 weeks ago with 39,800. Randomly displays 'service theft deterrent system' and I cant start. Dash lights up etc, but cant start. Have had to use oem remote-start as a work-around, but that isnt working now either. The engine will start but as soon as i put the key in, turn to 'on', and put in gear, engine kills. Battery is original, but good. Reading 12.6v engine off, 14.1v running, and load test is good. It seems to happen more when stoping/starting over short periods, like starting 1st in morning fine, go to get gas, turn off 5 min, wont start. Get it startedz drive and stop at ATM. Turn it off 2 minz wont start. If it matters my Infotainment outside temp is never correct either - and i mean off by a lot. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks guys! PS - did new sierras come with 2 keys AND fobs? Dealer gave me 1 key and fob, and 2nd key by itself. Said GMC only gave 1 fob (and 2 keys) to new purchases.
  6. I have a set of chevy LTZ wheels were on the truck about 2 or 3 days before being replaced. No TPMS. I'd say wheels have 20 miles on them. Perfect condition. 6 by 5.5 18 x 8.5 Located in west Arizona
  7. I need help deciding for wheels and tires I dont want to cut on my truck to fit in wheels. I am looking at 265/65-18 bfg KO2 tires but cant decide if I want to stay with an 18 inch wheel. Would there be any benefit to going with a smaller wheel? Such as a 16 or 17? Also what's the max size tire I can fit with out having rubbing issues 33 Or smaller? Thanks
  8. Hoping someone can help me find the part number to the rear driver side manual door locking pin/knob for a 2018 Silverado 1500? My buddy and I took apart my door to install subs in my truck and while he was trying to put the door panel back on he broke the lock pin/knob. i been trying to find one online with no luck. Now I’m hoping that if I at least get the part number or a diagram of inside the door somthing will pop up on the internet? i will attach some pictures below of what I need. Thanks!
  9. Recently going into used car shopping and saw a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ Crew Cab with 5.3l V8. 145k miles. Any problems with these types of trucks and their motors? Anything I should look for when taking a look at this truck? Not very familiar with these types of trucks and the motor it has. Generally a good buy?
  10. 2007 Silverado with the 4.3 when brake hard, the truck itself on the frame im guessing seems like it moves up some when come to the hard stop and when i give it gas it’ll make a sound that something might be moving back. Any thoughts? Will try to have a video soon for better understanding
  11. Hello, I’m new to this forum so I’m not sure if this question has ever been posted? I have been looking all over the internet but just can’t seem to find an answer? I have a 2018 Silverado 1500 Custom And I was wondering if it’s possible to swap my grille to a Z71 grille? I’m not sure if the Z71 grille is a different shape then my front end? I’m not a big fan of the black honeycomb look being that I’m going for a more sleek all white look. (Need to paint doors and mirror caps) If I can’t swap grills does anyone know where I can buy the grille insterts from a z71 grille? first 2 pictures are of my truck and second is a picture of the Z71 grille I want.
  12. Howdy. I'm new here. I'll give you reasons to swipe ri... wait, wrong site. Moving on, I like stuff that goes fast and makes noise. Fast cars, trucks, guns... I like that stuff. I am in the process of going back to a Silverado for the third time. I've had a 04 SCSSB Z71, 07 Classic ECSB 2wd 5.3L, and an 11 ECSB 2wd All-Star 5.3. What am I looking at... All I can tell you is a Crew Cab with the 5.3, carpet (wife requirement), and the G80 rear. That's all I have it down to right now, though I am leaning Texas Edition. I might buy a good, clean used one. I might buy a new one that a dealer needs off the lot. I could go either way on 2wd or 4wd, but I'm leaning 2wd because the tend not to understeer as much. If I lift, it'll only be a straight leveling kit and no more than 33" of tire. I'm not going to be mudding hard or crawling over rocks, that breaks stuff, but I will be going off the paved roads from time to time to a campsite, bonfire, or dinking around my folk's summer land. I'm in Central Texas, so I subscribe to the idea that if you get stuck here with a 2wd... You are dumb, someplace you weren't supposed to be, or a combination of both. My vision is for a cruiser that Wifey and I can go off the beaten trail in that sounds good and won't let me down when I treat the on ramp like a drag strip. I think the 355 HP 5.3L will do all that just fine. I do like sharp handling. The K2XX trucks I have driven have all impressed me in that regard, so I'm not too worried about feeling like I'm at the helm of the USS Reagan if I jump in the truck right after my Charger (which I am keeping as a tool until the wheels fall off). Believe it or not... I'm bordering on getting wrapped around the axle over gears... pun intended. 3.42's and 20's is acceptable. 3.42's and 17's sounds like a dang good time. 3.08's and 17's... I read good and bad about that configuration. I guess I'll have to get a good test drive in one like that before giving it a GO/NO-GO. I will say this... I test drove an E-Assist and was presently surprised when it (after I shut the nannies off) ripped the tires off the ground for a good bit off the line. I would consider one if it wasn't so damn hard to tune. Anywho... insight, advice, and warm welcomes will be much appreciated. AATW!
  13. Looking for opinions on spray in bedliner's Rhino line VS vortex liners The rhinoline will cost me about 525 vortex around 600. What's the differences? What's better or worse? Thanks for opinions
  14. Came across some great content on YouTube about the the truck. I have been watching TFL for a long time, but this guy has been putting out much better and more informative videos so far. His channel is Pickup Truck And SUV Talk. I am in no way affiliated with this channel; I just enjoyed his videos.
  15. So I have been looking around for a level kit I think I want to go with a 2inch level on the front. But I'm not too sure on what one to get? I have seen the rough country one for a reasonable price. I was also looking at motofab. Is there any others that I should consider? Also with a level kit void a factory warranty? Post some photos of your level lift! Or give me some input on things to be aware about.
  16. I just thought I would post a poll to see how everyone uses their truck. I'm sorry if the questions are vague or not quite clear. Thanks.
  17. Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and was hoping the community could help me with my new vehicle search. I absolutely love the styling, features and capabilities of the 2018 Sierra. I think the SLT trim level with the z71 package would provide the perfect balance of capability and luxurious comfort. I am all but sold on purchasing one of the last few 2018 models that are still sitting on the dealer lots. My conundrum comes from the various reviews that call the GM truck's reliability into question. One such prevalent issue is the vibration or "chevy shake" that drivers experience at highway speeds (from my research, an un-balance drive shaft may be the culprit). The other prevalent issue appears to be the hard downshift and "clunks" that may come from the transmission. On paper, I love everything about the vehicle. I am just apprehensive about making a big investment in something that appears to have frequent issue. Any opinion on this topic is much appreciated!! Thank yall!
  18. 2007 Silverado 1500 4.3, no 4x4, has electronics but it seems like its not sending power to the starter. I replaced the starter yesterday, still no changes. When key is turned to start ignition, the truck dims but no crank. Battery was also charged yesterday too, and is maybe a month old. Before this issue, on some days it would go down the road normally and randomly turn off for a split second or a second but “catches back on”, i guess, and continue driving. Any ideas? Will go to a local shop Wednesday if no luck
  19. Bought a 2017 Chervrolet Silverado crew cab 4wd Lt from Gateway Chevrolet in Avondale, Arizona. It only had 2800 miles when I bought it, certified preowned. This was back in November 2017, few months ago I realized the truck had about a dozen dime sized dents throughout the roof, very slight dents but definitely there. It infuriates me how they didn't disclose this to me, I bought the truck for an unreasonably expensive price considering it had dents on the roof. It angers me because The truck cost me 38,000 dollars and they didn't disclose dents on the roof, body damage!!! it will cost me nearly a thousand dollars to repair. I called Chevrolet and of course there is nothing they will do about it. I called the dealership and I haven't even been able to get through to a person in charge, they keep on giving me the run around. I am so pissed, I can't believe Chevrolet did this to me, I feel lied to I decided to buy Chevrolet because of the reputation it has but am now wishing I would have bought a ford instead.
  20. So I've had my truck now for 2-3 months and it is now sitting at 3295 miles and every now and then it shifts hard or sloppy but i can make it shift hard by flooring it which obviously happens when doing this but the weird part is not flooring it is when i let off the gas and when i come to a stop the downshifts are harsh. Now i know i could be breaking it in but even my father who used it for a week said it should be checked out and he is quite the Chevy enthusiast himself. Is there any known problems with the 6 speed in my truck? its a 2018 double cab lt z71 4x4 with the 5.3l. -edit: it also shifts hard when using manual mode or low whatever you like to call it just putting it out there.
  21. I have 2000 silverado 1500 with around 218k miles on it. The other day getting off work turn my truck on and ac was blowing cold like normal continued on everyday normal rountine, well 10 15 mins later stuck in traffic on interstate. Realized ac was blowing warm so i turned ac off waited 5 or 10 mins turned back on and was cold as usual.Long story short still having this problem, wondering what it could be causing this. Btw new to the forum any info would be appreciated. Thanks
  22. So the sales guy at the RV store says I can tow this trailer. Problem is, he wants to sell trailers, and I dont have a death wish (neither does my truck) The trailer is a 32', 7995 lb GVWR (6195 lb dry) with 604 lb hitch weight. I'd like to pull it with a Sierra 1500 crew cab RWD with the 5.3L, 3.42 gear ratio. Anybody have any experience with a similar setup? Any recommendations?
  23. Off-Topic 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 EXT Cab 4.3L WT By Crdel93, 8 hours ago in Off-Topic 1500× silverado× flywheel× 2012× chevrolet× chevy× 4.3l× extended cab× Reply to this topic Crdel93 0 Posted 8 hours ago I have 2012 Chevy Silverado Ext cab 1500 4.3L WT. I just drove it form California to Indiana which is approximately 2,200 miles the last 500 or so miles of my trip I started hearing a ticking noise. Which sounded familiar. I was towing a Mazda 3 on a dolly and had two atv's in the bed. Total weight was about 10,500 lbs. I get here to Indiana and take it to a Chevy Dealership and they want to drop the transmission. I double check my Forever Warranty before they start doing anything only to find out its voided because I didn't take it to the Chevy dealership I bought it from in Indiana but to a Chevy dealership in California since I'm active duty military and that's where I was stationed. So I said screw it I'll take it to a cheaper place since it won't be covered under warranty anyway. I take it to a guy explain what's going on and he says it sounds like my Fly wheel. I told him it's funny you say that because my truck has 72,000 miles and at about 35,000 miles my fly wheel cracked out in San Diego. Well this morning he called and confirmed that's what it is. Has anyone else had this issue? Is this going to be a reoccurring issue every 35,000 miles? Is there an underlying issue that is causing this? Thanks in advance!
  24. Hey everyone, Thought I’d start a build thread for my 2015 Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab Standard Box (5.3 L) 4x4. Been my dream vehicle since I was a kid and finally owning one is a great feeling! I've quickly learned that these mods can get out of control though, but I’m sure you all know that! Here are the following modifications I have done on my truck so far: · 2" Zone leveling kit · Upgraded from 18" to 20" wheels (Matte black Rockstar 2 XD 811) · Goodyear Duratrac 275/60R20 tires · BakFlip G2 tonneau cover · Smittybilt Receiver Hitch D-Ring · Rigid Industries SR-M2 fog lights (x 4) · Rigid Industries D-Series lights behind the grill (x 4) · Enthuze LED headlights (high and low beams) · Swapped out license plate lights, cargo lights, and third-brake lights with Philips LED bulbs · AFE Magnum Force Stage-2 Pro 5R cold air intake system · Borla S-type cat-back exhaust (side exit) · Added GM 3" black powder coated nerf bars (GM part #23194635) · Gatorback oversized custom fit mud flaps · De-badged all wording from doors and tailgate, including “4x4” decals · Plastidipped front and rear bowties matte black · Hood and tail gate vinyl wrapped with matte black rally stripes with pin-stripe outline · Installed driver side assist handle · Weathertech precise fit floor mats (front and back) · Blackvue 1080P DR650GW-1CH dash camera Here is my truck on day 1 when I picked it up; fully stock: And let the modifications begin…
  25. 1999 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton 4X4 240k miles I am hearing a loud single pop/clunk from the front end passenger side when I turn the steering wheel sharp LEFT ONLY in forward and reverse. I can replicate the noise nearly 100% of the time if the truck is on a moderate to steep incline. This only happens at slow speeds. I feel next to nothing through the steering column. I hear the most out the front passenger window and feel the pop/clunk through the floor of the cab. I have replaced the intermediate steering shaft with the updated GM part. Any direction would be really appreciated.
