Hello, I recently installed OEM Chevrolet black bowties on my 2016 Silverado. Though I was unable to make a video recording the process, I did find a lot of shortcuts along the way that may be helpful to others. Below is a guide of how to do the swap yourself. -------------------------------------------------- ***Front Bowtie Removal/Install (30 min or less, 10 if you know what to look for):*** - To remove the front bowtie, Chevrolet recommends that you remove the entire front grille assembly. however, I found this is not necessary. If you lay underneath the front of the truck, you will see a plastic cover that fills the gap between the front bumper and the frame to cover the bottom side of the radiator from debris. - There are three (3) plastic body molding/trim molding connectors that will need to be removed (one in the center and one to either side about 18 inches out). I found the best way to do this was with a short bladed flat head screw driver and both hands. Simply put, force will coerce the pins out of their plug holders. - Once those are removed you will be able to stick your arm through the underside of the radiator protector and feel the four (4) tabs and two (2) pins that hold the front emblem to the grille. - To remove the emblem, I used a key (spare, cheap one) to push the tabs outward from the center while pushing away from the front with my hand to pop the tab out of the clip area. I suggest starting from one side and making your way to the other. This did take slightly more force than I expected, so do not be afraid to push outward and away from the grille. - Once all 4 tabs are free, you should be able to get out from under the front and remove the emblem completely from the front of the grille. - The new, black bowtie, should snap right in!!! No glue or tape needed! **The 2016 Silverado 1500 uses a different front emblem than the 14 or 15 models, make sure you purchase the proper emblems for your truck!!! ---------------------------------------- ***Rear Bowtie Removal/Install (1 hour or so, if done right):*** - First, gather the necessary tools to complete the job: Hair dryer or Heat gun, 2 microfiber towels, WD40, Goo B Gone, Fishing line (I used 50LB line, right size and strength, but you can used the guts of parachute cord and i have heard of dental floss, but that seemed silly), isopropyl alcohol, water, painters tape, plastic scraping blade/tool, small amount of gasoline (explained later) - Using the painters tape, outline the emblem on all 4 sides, careful to follow all the edges as close as possible. This will stay there until the new emblem is placed, serving as your guide lines. - Disclosure: I removed the back emblem on a 93 degree day, my truck is dark colored, and I used a hair dryer. Other conditions may require longer heating time. Heat the emblem to soften the adhesive backing on the emblem making it easier to remove (yes this actually makes it easier). Use your own judgment, heat until you think it is ready, just don't overheat. - Using the fishing line (or whatever you have), begin at one corner and slice through the backing. I would do an inch or so at a time and then reheat the nest area I was removing. This process took about 7-10 minutes to get off completely. - If you are lucky (like hit the lottery lucky), the adhesive backing will come off with the emblem, and there will not be much left on the tailgate. But, if yours is anything like mine, the adhesive will be stuck on the tailgate. spray this with WD40 and/or Goo B Gone, allow to soak momentarily, and use the scraping tool to remove the thickest parts of the adhesive back. There will be leftover glue on the tailgate. - You can play around with WD40/Goo B Gone to get the rest off, or you can be like me and take it off in seconds. This is where that gasoline comes into play. Using one of your microfiber towels, apply a liberal amount of gas and the glue should come right off. This should not harm the paint at all, as long as you clean it off within a day. - Now that you have the glue and adhesive backing removed, you need to sterilize the area to put the new emblem on. Mix a one to one mixture of the rubbing alcohol and water. Using the other microfiber towel, wipe the area clean. The alcohol will dissolve the WD40 and Goo B Gone and anything else that would prevent good adhesion. Clean until you are satisfied. - The area should be ready to be fitted with the new emblem now. I would perform some dryfits, with the adhesive backing cover still on so that you get a feel for where it should go. Then, remove the film, and slowly and carefully place the new emblem. Make sure and press firmly once positioned to ensure good adhesion. - Step back and admire your work. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Here are some pictures of my success! (I also added the OEM GM backup camera that my truck did not come with. If you need one like I did, I can tell you about that process too! I have a big hitch on, and backing into every spot, since I hate backing out, was getting risky.)

Picked up a new GMC 2017 Duramax 2500HD that came leveled with 2.5-inch shock extensions, new torsion keys and 20x9 Fuel wheels w/ 305 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. With this setup do I need to be concerned with CV angles? Would adding UCA’s and new shocks improve things? If so, what option would you suggest? Cognito, CST, Fabtech… Bilstein, Fox... This truck will spend most of it's time on the road with only short offlroad runs to and from the trail head. I’d consider a proper 4-6” lift cranked down with 35’s but I’m worried about fitting into my parking structure. Also, I already have the 305’s and don’t want the wheel well gap or to worry about selling the 305’s. Currently the truck sits at about 80 inches; the same height as my buddy’s raptor that fits the parking structure with not much room to spare. How tall are you guys running a 4-6” lift on 35’s? Anybody running 4-6” on 33’s? Anybody have any feedback on the 3-6" S.T.L. High Clearance lift kit from CST? Also, for the cost of the 3-6” lift w/ a decent shock option, why not go with the coilover conversion from BDS? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I’m New to the forum, and I have been looking for a day or two but can’t find anything on the topic of if control arms from a 2001-2007 2500 will fit on a 2000, and if not what the best recommendation would be?

CASH TALKS! TEXT ME OR CALL 406-690-537I TO DISCUSS, TEXT PREFERRED AS I WORK OUT OF CELL SERVICE OFTEN. Selling my beloved 2007 GMC Duramax Diesel, last year of the best of the LBZ model code. No emissions from the factory to deal with, and considered to be the best model of duramax ever made. This is a very clean truck, I looked long and hard to find this, and it is my 3rd lbz GM truck. No leaks no drips no check engine lights nothing. Ready for anything and will last forever, I see these trucks on the forums over a half million miles getting beat on daily and running forever, this has been babied. Yes I am asking over book and considering offers, please realize this truck has had a lot more than the average truck has had put into it. Really like buying a brand new truck with everything completely done. Truck is awesome all around. The front seats are showing light wear but no rips, rears and rest of interior looks like new. A couple light paint chips on the front bumper, and I have all factory touch up paints. That's it for imperfections. THIS TRUCK IS CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. I hate selling, however this truck is such a garage queen it makes it hard for me to justify keeping. I started a new position shortly after purchasing the truck and have a work vehicle I use the marjority of the time. The truck is only used for weekend soccer interstate trips etc. I am the 3rd owner, first was in california and second was in billings and was an oil worker, and it was a garage queen its life. I purchased the truck and did extensive upgrades and reliability modifications to make it the perfect truck in my eyes. I have spent thousands in upgrades and countless hours and extensive labor charges to get the truck to where it is today. This will make someone a reliable powerful vehicle for many years to come with everything done. Always ran premium diesel and Stanadyne with every fillup. Truck is fully loaded slt model, every available option except leaking sunroof. Bose stereo, power heated leather etc etc. I will do my best to list everything I can think of about the truck. I am sure I will miss much as so much has been done it is hard to even remember it all. Everything was done with reliability in mind first, and performance second. I have most of the stock parts as well that have been removed. Upgrades and performance modifications... Allison deep transmission pan and new gasket with all new filters. Transgo jr shift kit. Fleece all on module Duramax store transmission cooler line kit upgrade (replaces notorious oem leaking lines) Professionally installed rough country 3" lift kit, including new steering stabilizer, 4 new shocks, new rear block, new upper control arms with better angle for ball joint lift, new torsion keys. Also did new pitman and idler arm at this time and full alignment. 16" XD wheels with 33" Cooper AT3 tires, maybe 5k miles on tires. SDP PCV reroute kit AFE Series 2 intake with afe pre filter 4" MBRP mufflered exhaust with black tip. 3" MBRP downpipe MBRP uppipe Sinister EGR delete kit Edge Insight Gauge Monitor with egt into passenger side exhaust header. Gauge is mounted in dash pod and professionally wired. Airdog 165 lift pump Capped resonator Fleece headlight modification (allows fogs brights lows driving to all be on simultaneously) Full window tint with vent visors. 2 sets of weathertech floor mats, one still new in box. Trailer brake Snugtop Topper color matched and fitted for the truck, matches the lines perfect. 5th wheel rails in bed GMC Gatorback heavy duty mudflaps Lund chrome nerf bars Blacked out led taillights EFI LIVE by Idaho rob at atp in Idaho, comes with efi live tuner. If you are not familiar with efi live tuning take some time to read up on google, it is amazing what it does for these trucks and Idaho Rob is considered among the best tuners in the business. Truck was tuned after all modifications were completed and comes with 5 tunes that are able to be shifted on the fly with the dsp 5 switch mounted in the cigarette lighter spot and is tuned for the transmission with shift kit. Tunes range from optimized stock, tow tune with turbo tow brake, 90hp eco, 120 street, and 150 hot race, and are changeable simply by turning the switch from positions 1 through 5. I have used the tow tune and the eco tune primarily, as I get older I enjoy cruising more than speeding. The truck does have the ability to really pull however in the higher tunes. Very clean tuning with almost no smoke except in tune 5 where it will smoke a little when getting after it. Truck has not been rodded, adult owned and driven always. Maintenance items completed... All completed within the last 6 months. Repeat drain and fills of both differentials with 500k mile synthetic delo dif fluid. Repeat drain and fill of transmission and allison filters using only transynd fluid. (Internal filter also change with the deep pan addition.) New oem gm radiator hoses and coolant filled drained and filled multiple times. Hyperlube racing coolant additive added on last fillup. New oem thermostats Brake fluid flushed twice, filled with Valvoline synthetic brake fluid. Power steering flushed twice, filled with blue line synthetic power steering fluid. Midas full alignment after lift kit installation. 4 wheel tire balance. Full midas inspection showing everything in the good green category. New intermediate dorman problem solver steering shaft and bearing kit (fixes notorious oem clunking steering problem) New spicer lifetime greasable ujoints All zerks repeatedly greased with lucas red and tacky Recharged air conditioning. Turbo Vane cleaning done. Synthetic oils and oem filters, oem airdog liftpump filters. Truck is ready to go. Title in hand, lien through local bank which my wife works at and all title work can be done at bank on day of sale. I may consider delivery for a fee, depending on how far etc. I may consider a partial trade on a cheaper vehicle (under 5kish) with your cash offer. Would need to know all vehicle details. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE!!! I am working huge hours right now and don't have time for tire kickers. Vin available upon request. Truck is located in billings montana and can be viewed at almost any time. I will try to get more pictures up of the truck as time allows. First picture is current with topper, other pic just to show how it looks without topper.

Hey all first time post but it wont be my last. I have a question I was looking to possibly get an answer for. I own a 1992 GMC Sierra 2500 454 4x4; The transmission is slipping and im looking at purchasing a used one as its far to expensive to rebuild. Anyways i live on an island and there are absolutely no 4L80E 4x4 transmissions. but there is a lot of TH400's, newer 4L80Es and of course 4L60Es. What would work with my truck? Or would none of these work? I do know that my transmission is specific to 1991 - 1993. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

Hey all, we're a local Chevy dealer with a strong ecommerce presence. We have the lowest prices on the Kicker subwoofer package for the 2014+ Silverado & Sierra Crew & Double/Extended Cab sizes. Installation does not require dealer install. it is a plug and play package. We have guaranteed low prices that shouldn't be beat! GM offers a few versions of these units: -Double Cab and Crew Cab models have different parts numbers -They offer just a sub upgrade, or they offer the sub upgrade plus amplifier on the door speakers. *The standard Sub upgrade works with the Bose system. *The kit including Sub plus Amp on the door speakers will NOT work with Bose systems. For a price, please send us a message with your body style truck, and which kit you would be interested in plus your Zip Code for shipping. Everything is in stock ready to ship. Forum members will find that our prices on all GM accessories will be hard to beat. Please message me with any questions on this or any other accessory you may need for your truck. *** Currently running a little bit of a deeper discount on the crew cab models, with just the sub upgrade. Buy cheap, sell cheap is the name of the game***

Hi all, new member to the forum here. Hope I can get some input on the new 2016 silverados from you all. Here's my situation. I am relocating to texas for a new job in august. I am thinking of picking up a new 2016 chevy silverado 1500 before i leave as a want something reliable that i don't have to worry about once im in a different state. This is a big purchase for me and im thinking of either the double or crew cab with a v6. doesn't have to be 4 wheel drive but if i can get a good deal then i will pick it up. I've only needed 4 wheel drive in a couple situations before. my current chevy has not let me down besides a few times with minor and easy fixes. it is a 1998 silverado 1500 that i use to tow the boat on weekends. No major problems with it. i drive a sedan when im not towing anything. from everything that i've read the vibration issues on chevy is a BIG problem and GM still doesnt have any fixes. it seems like a huge headache and one that i don't want to deal with. I have read A LOT about the 2014/2015s but haven't heard too much about the vibration issues with 2016 models. My question is; does the 2016 have the same problem as 2014 and 2015s? also what other problems keep arising? and is it major or minor problems? i think now there should be enough people with 2016s to hopefully answer my question. Ive been driving chevys my whole life and the thought of geting a f150 doesn't sit well with me haha. but if i have to because of GM's problems i will even though i really want a silverado. Thanks so much for any input!

Hi all, Still relatively new to the site, so please excuse me if this is a duplicate post of sorts. I am looking to eventually do a lift/level on my 2017 ATX. I would love to keep it as stock as possible... So.. my question is, can I swap stock suspension for stock suspension... I have a 1500, can I take 2500 or 3500 suspension to bump it up noticeably with out modifying severely? Open to all and any comments! Thanks!

I just bought a 2500HD Duramax back in December and I want to replace the piece between the headlights, (not the main grille just the insert). I would like to get a painted black one, given that is what color my truck is. The plastic one is all faded and nasty looking. Anyone have any suggestions as far as official name and places to look? Thanks

This is my 2nd GMC truck...Unfortunately I had my 2009 Sierra 1500 stolen But thankfully insurance pulled through and took care of me! Well after much research and weighing my options...I decided to step into the Diesel world! I tow a Toy hauler so I knew I wanted something that can handle towing what I currently have and that could handle whatever I upgraded to in the future!!! I ended up getting a 2016 Denali HD and I am in love with it! I know this is the perfect place for recommendations and help so if any of you guys out there could help me out with any valuable info I need to be aware on and also maybe some recommendations on any after market things that I can do to it that would be much appreciated! I look forward to reading and seeing all the cool things on this forum! Thanks!!!!

Is Your Silverado / Sierra HD Steering a Little Off?
Gorehamj posted a topic in The Newsroom Archive
John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 3-7-2017 2016 Silverado HD owners continue to struggle with steering issues despite a Chevy TSB now on version "D." This is not news to many GM-Trucks.com members who have reported the issue in our forums. The TSB, #PIT5501, covers the general topic, "Steering Feels Loose / Excessive Lash / Fluid Leak At Lash Adjuster." Owners have reported that the fix does not seem to stick. A recent detailed overview by Mary Conway at Torque News, laid out the many woes customers are reporting widely on multiple forums. As the video below shows, the problem may not be limited to just GM's Silverado, but also the GMC Sierra & Denali, which of course has a lot of shared components. If this is a problem you had and have resolved long-term, we'd like to know about it in the comments section below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSTu50h63No -
alternator reads 13.6 volts charging. Voltage on the dash is 12. As the vehicle runs the voltage drops slowly until 10 volts. Any suggestions to what the issue is? Brand new battery solid ground on it and positive.

All, I am looking into getting a 2006 Silverado 2500HD 2wd LT with the 6.0. It's a Single cab long bed work truck. I pulled the VIN info and found that it has always been in Tucson and Cali. The truck has no rust (as to be expected). The only noticable problem is the Oil Pressure Sensor seems to be dead, (easy $50 fix). Anyhow, I have never worked with or on a 2500 before, and would like to know what I should look for before purcasing the truck. Also, what do you all think is a good price for a truck like this? I am gonna be using this truck for slight hauling and pretty much daily driving.

So I have developed an issue this winter where mice have decided my truck was a good spot for hiding dog food (not sure how a mouse can haul a large breed junk of dog food but whatever). Anyway, I took my air box apart to find about 5# of dog food hidden under the filter!! What?!!! Funny thing is this happened with my old truck as well! Strange! Anyway, that dog food has somehow made it into my HVAC system. I literally have dog food rolling around in there somewhere and making it's way out the floor vents! I took the blower motor out and couldn't find anything there. It looks like they are getting access to the channel l that runs the width of the truck where the vents are by the windshield. So, how on earth am I suppose to get the dog food out of there and how do I keep them bastards out of my truck??

Hey guys, I've been searching for a while to find a used radiator for my 1982. It has the 6.2 diesel and an auto transmission. Recently I purchased the correct sized radiator without the trans cooler. If I were to get a universal HD trans cooler, would I be able to use this newer radiator and cooler? The cooler comes with relocation lines and everything that's needed. I've never swapped a radiator before but taking the old one out was not as difficult as imagined. Just looking for a conformation that these separate units will work.

Hey everyone, I am new to this build thread deal but I have had some people tell me that buying a beat up 15 year old truck was a waste of time and money and this will chronicle them being wrong. So I guess to start and make a long story short I was a die hard F#rd fan, sorry didn't mean to curse I know this is a family page, and where I live in Michigan you mainly see GMC and Dodge. A good friend of mine was helping me do some work one day and we had to use his truck because mine was down for the 100th time. And after spending a day in his truck I started looking and eventually bought a 99 GMC sierra 1500. I loved that truck and spent many hours and dollars making it my own but in the end it is only a 1500. So my fiancé and I talked and we started looking for a 2500HD. After a few months we found a 2002 crew cab SB that has spent almost all of it life in the UP. As you can tell I have a thing for buying old vehicles and making them mine. I would rather spend $3500 on a truck and put $6000 into it than buy a $10,000 truck. Oh and all the while this truck will be my daily driver. So here is goes.....

Hey guys, I bought my first square body from a farmer who used to to haul manure. This truck is in pretty rough shape but mechanically sound. It has the 6.2 diesel and TH-400 transmission. 8600lb GCVW Short cab with a long bed. Fairly base with a few selected options. Any tips or tricks that are good to know for this year and engine?
