So I decided to drop some coin on a tune from Blackbear. All I can say is wow!! That really woke up that 8.1! Can actaully smoke the tires now if I wanted to! It's like a whole new truck! Passing is way more fun now LOL! Can't wait to see the improvments in towing this Summer! Now to get my dual exhaust installed....

i have a 99 sierra 2500 and want to drop a 2013 sierra 2500 engine into it. my question is, how hard will it be to do this. i am mechanically inclined and know i can mechanically fit this engine in my 99 by modifying a few things, but i am concerned on the electrical. i know i will have to use the ecu and wiring harness off the 2013 but i definitely need advise before i get into this massive project. i have the complete totaled doner car so i can use whatever i need of that. i am really concerned with the electrical and how to connect it to my 99. will this be possible? easy as plug and play? thanks so much in advance.

Hi Guys, I'm new here. Ordered a 2015i Sierra 2500HD SLT Crew Cab Short Box All Terrain Package in Iridium Metallic. Ordered on Jan 5 2015 I checked with my dealer on Jan 14/15 and he send me an order number and that it is at event 1100. Is there a way to check the status for a Canadian order without bothering my sales man every week?

I have a tranny out of a 6.5l chevy diesel. that was rebuilt. The motor went out so i pulled the rebuilt tranny and scrapped the truck. I now have a 2002 chevy 2500 6.0 gas that i want to put it in. they are both 4l80es. the only difference i have seen are the return lines. The 02 lines are larger and have different connections. (i believe they are referred to has quick connects?) as apposed to the holes on the tranny that are just the double flare thread ons. Can the lines be reduced without causing problems? if so how?

I am looking for some tow mirrors with the LED turn signal in the mirror, and wondering if any of yall had done this change? I have stock small mirrors now and want the upgrade. Any insight on the best tow mirrors to buy fit and function wise? Looking to put them on the truck in the picture. Thanks

1990 silverado 2500 6.0l overheating problem help!
huntyr posted a question in Ask the GM Technician
So I am dumb and I mixed regular green coolant with my dexcool and didn't know gm did Dex cool, so there was a little muk from it and I did a flush and it cleaned and everything was good, few days after my truck started to over heat, I didn't let it get too hot and got a tow home, I did a new thermostate and that didn't do it my coolant is going up and down bad and then going over the reservoir cap while burbing it, and then overheats, told it was reservoir cap, so replaced that. then found water pump wasn't pumping water so replaced that, and coolant still doing the up and down and over heating, my one friend said air pocket mayeb but I keep getting cracked heads or gasket but no oil in coolant and takes a good while for it to get hot. I am very stumped and also go told maybe my radiator but not going to replace that till I know for sure. =/- 13 replies

I got a 1999 Chev 2500 with the 6.0 lQ4 with iron heads, i want to direct plug and play with a new motor, do i need an iron head lq4 or can i use a newer aluminum head lq4 for my swap. Im mostly concerned at how the flexplate will bolt up. Since the new motor will already be out and the truck has a lift and 35s would it be a good idea to put a cam in or anything else before i put it in. I can also get a 250xxxkm 6.0 from salvage for about $600 anything to worry about at that milage?

From the album: Summer fun!
Pic of my rig set up for summer fun! Gotta say, I do love that 8.1 torque and power! And it even gets better MPG (towing that is!) then my tired 5.3! Not towing, yeah not so much! -
I've just gotten word that I will have the opportunity to drive the next generation 2500HD and 3500HD trucks in late January Right now, it looks like I'll get behind the wheel either January 27th, 28th, or 29th. As soon as I pin down a date, I'll let you all know. Of course, this means a LIVE POST during the actual event! I'll take your comments, suggestions, and requests to give all of you a live impression of what it's like to drive the new HDs. I'll be towing, hauling, and comparing to the competition. We're about two months away. If anyone has any requests or comments please post below. EDIT: It's going to be on Tuesday, January 28th

I currently put a 6in BDS lift on my 2003 silverado 2500hd i also put all new ball joints, tie rods, shocks, wheel bearings, and control arm bushings. well i put it all together and when putting the torsion bar keys back on it seemed way to tight. i snapped a breaker bar and bent a ball joint press. i messed around with it and then was able to get it in easier. well now i have no suspension? put your truck up on jack stands with the stands under your frame. that is what it is like. well maybe i turned the key down one to many notches...? no! if i move the key up one notch the truck sits on the floor. it also looks like the torsion bars have a bend to them? i am very confused and do not understand why this is happening i could use some help. thank you. Also i currently do not have my motor in it btw.

I have a nasty click in my 2008 sierra 2500, it is the GM 6 speed on a gas truck, this noise only occurs when I put the truck in drive or reverse, and its when the tension hits the driveline, no problems with drivability or clunking during acceleration/deceleration. The truck has 120,000 miles on it I did change the u joints with moog HD versions and this did not solve the problem it sounds like it is coming from the area of the transfer case but its hard to tell being as that the sound travels throughout the driveline. the truck is also throwing A code for transmission pressure sensor code any input appreciated Thanks!

Well, after countless hours of searching, calling, texting and emailing I have found my new ride! My 2003 Chevy Avalanche 2500 is getting delivered today! While it's not a "new" truck, it's still new to me! I will be sure to post some pics after I get it home. I've always loved the looks of the Avy and can't wait to actually own one! With 8.1 I'm sure my towing worries will be in the past, at least I hope so anyway! A little worried about MPG but then again it's not gonna be my dd. Hell, my wife will drive it more then me! lol

During my truck search I have came upon this truck, 02 Avy with 76k miles! The guy is asking $13,500. Now it is a nice truck, no rust, interior is clean with no stains or rips. Has aftermarket DVD and remote start. My ? is, what would you offer for this truck?? It books out at like $12,400 in very good condition, private party.

I have a 2002 Silverado 2500 with a 6.0L. Does anyone know if a 1500HD or 2500HD hood will fit on the regular 2500 or if the inner components are different? I have been told various different answers and am looking to swap for the raised HD hood.
