  1. I am looking at a 2-3.5in lift for my 2016 Silverado LT 1500, but I tow 3000-4000lbs daily for my job. To prevent the rear end from sagging, I want to add an additional leaf or a helwig helper. Basic vehicle dynamics tells us that stiffening the rear suspension and doing nothing to the front will create oversteering issues at higher speeds. What does everyone do to the front suspension to create proportionate front/rear stiffness when adding a rear leaf?
  2. Looking at putting the 8” BDS strut spacer kit on my 2015 Silverado Z71. any one have any reviews, info, experience with this new kit? was going with the 6” BDS but my 18x9 wheels with 0 offset will require too much trimming on 35s thanks!
  3. I’ve currently got a 4” Rough Country Suspension Lift on my 03 1500. I’m wantkng to take that off and put a 6” Rough Country Suspension Lift, and a 3” body lift. I’m just wondering if anyone has done this and what kind of problems I might run into. Thanks for the help!
  4. Need skme help here. I have a 16 Silverado 1500 lt with the stock 17"wheels and 255/70r17 tires. Without a lift, or a level or anything. Can I upgrade to 18inch wheels and a set of bfg all terrain 275/70r18 without any trouble??
  5. So I was wanting to lift my 2009 1500 Silverado a considerable amount. I was think atleast 6". Does anyone know about how much that would cost for parts and labor?
  6. Hello everyone, new to the forum, been lurking for a while finally decided to make an account. I have a 2017 Silverado LT Z71 with the stamped steel UCA's. I ordered the ReadyLift UCA/ 2.25" level kit because I've read so much on the issues with the factory control arms that I wanted to level my truck the right way (although it meant costing me an arm and a leg). Today I took the truck to my buddy shop, put the truck on the lift, swapped out the driver side control arm and well to us it looks like the shaft of the ball joint doesn't go in far enough into the knuckle. Another guy that works at the shop came by and thought the same thing. As if the shaft is thicker than the factory one and doent go in far enough. Not sure if thats how it is supposed to be or what but we decided to take it off and just see what ready lift says. Here are a few pictures, any info is appreciated especially if there is anyone out there running the control arms. Thanks in advance.
  7. I got a 2016 Lifted (6 inch) Diesel Colorado with a 6 foot bed at the end of October. Since then I ran into an issue where you can hear a knocking noise from the front end when you turn while its in 4WD. I took it to the dealer and they have been trying to fix the issue but its going on 6 weeks (they had it for 3 weeks trying to fix the remote start before that). They thought they fixed it with a new axle, one CV (?), new fabricated spacers, and tilting the transfer case i think.. I got it down to the end of the service entrance and it made the noise again when I turned. What can it be? Today they tried to buy me out by offering me a new trail boss (very base model) and I would have to pay more than I am now and not have the bells and whistles my current one has (if I ever get to drive it).
  8. Hello guys. I know this has been asked a million and one times but I seem to be getting no where and the threads seem to turn into more arguing and debating then facts and resolutions. Please be nice as I have knowledge of mechanics but not modifications. I currently have a 2017 Silverado 1500 z71 with a 2.5 rough country lift level kit(RC is garbage I know). I’m looking to lift it 4” this summer. I will be doing it myself with my father in law as he is a master mechanic and I know my way around a truck. I would like to run 33’s with 20 inch rims. In your opinion is a 4” rancho or a 4” BDS the best route to go? I am avoiding RC for the angles and I want quality (you get what you pay for) and I do not want to have issues down the road if I can prevent them now with the extra $ although I am not a millionaire. So my questions are any experience with 4” BDS OR 4” Rancho and which is better and any issues? Any advice on a 4” lift with 33” tires and 20 inch rims?(how will it look?) Thank you all for your help as this is my first truck I am modifying ?? -(silver rims were dealership) -(black rims are after 2.5 level on it)
  9. Hey guys, I'm going to to be lifting my 2014 ltz around 4 inches and want to know what you think the major areas to monitor are. Obviously doing the bare minimum can put stress on certain components but my question is, what are these components? What should I watch out for specifically? And are there packages I can buy to cover all the bases?
  10. I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado LT RWD with a 5” Maxtrac spindle lift and a 2” strut spacer to equal 7” of lift. I want to replace the 2” strut spacer with a 3”. I want to know if anyone else has done it? Or if anyone has some advice.
  11. Upgraded my 6" suspension lift with 35s to a 9" suspension lift on 37s. I was going to add a 3" body lift on top of the 6", but decided against it because I really wanted to add a grille guard to my truck, and that can't be done without custom brackets on a body lift. Plus the negatives of a body lift aren't appealing. Went with a McGaughys 9" suspension lift. Had a 5" drop on my 2007 Escalade from them, and was happy with the quality. Plus their kits are made in 'Murica, so that's a huge plus for me. Ordered from http://www.mcgaughys-suspension.com/ , great guys and treated me right. Shout out to Sean (I think that's the right name) who made it all happen. The truck: 2014 Silverado 1500 2WD 5.3L V8 9" McGaughys Suspension Lift 37x13.50x20 Toyo Open Country Mud Terrains 20" Raceline Wheels Vehicle rubs on the front lower splitter at certain angles; will be removed. My biggest concern is the rear tires are now wider than the rear wheel well opening. So now we I tow again and the truck squats as normal, it isn't going to work. Suggestions on how to prevent this issue? Thinking helper air bags. Suspension lift is solid, drives excellent. Tires are quiet for their size (I am a Nitto/Toyo tire man for life), with no complaints whatsoever. Highly recommend the lift kit. Yes I know I am missing a center cap. EDIT: Some comparison photos added
  12. So I currently have a 2009 Silverado 1500 with 285/65R18 tires and 18/8.5 wheels with a 2in leveling kit. Im wanting to lift it and get some bigger tires without having to buy new wheels since mine are about a year old. Would a 6in lift and 35s look stupid since the wheels are smaller?
  13. There is thread on this forum for suspension lifts, but not body lifts. Also noticing a lot of people posting up requesting for pictures, info, etc. So lets get a thread started for body lifts. Remember to post the brand and size also!!! Preferably pictures of the sides, front, and rear, GO!!!
  14. I just purchased a new 2018 Silverado LT Z71 4wd crew cab short bed and am planning on putting the zone 4.5" lift kit on the truck with fox shocks. I love the look of deep dish rims and am leaning toward Hostile sprockets. I am wondering 2 things. 1. if going with a 20x12 on 33 m/t and -44 offset, how much cutting would be involved to solve the rubbing issue and would those cuts be visible with the wheels mounted from the outside? 2. What is the meatiest size someone would recommend for the Hostiles on 33's without having to cut and without rubbing on the 4.5" lift?
  15. Hello, I currently have a 2015 Silverado ltz 4x4. A few months back i installed a "2.5" leveling kit and some 33 inch Trail grapplers. I feel that the truck just doesn't have the height and clearance that I would like. I feel like I am still driving a car even after the leveling kit. I am wanting to install a lift but I am unsure as to which one or size to go with. I know lift kits are a "get what you pay for" type deal and I want something that will last and not destroy my front end. I am also unsure as to which size to get? I do not want something crazy maybe a 4 inch suspension? I want something that will look good and not look too silly. If anyone has any insight into this I would greatly appreciate it.
  16. I just got a 2017 Silverado LT Crew Cab With Eassist, is the suspension the same as a regular LT truck, I want to put a 5in or 6in lift but i've heard it cant be done. Anyone know or have done it before? thanks
  17. Hey all, New guy from Houston named Zach. I'm looking to lift my truck and put 35's on it. My buddy with a lifted Diesel said it will turn my gasser into a dog and I need to regear so I can get out my own way. What gears would work best on my truck for 35's? I was thinking 4.56? Also If anyone has re-geared their truck and can recommend a place in Houston? I would appreciate it. I don't even know where to start looking.
  18. Came across this just now for those interested. Looks like a great system from the outside!
  19. Hello everyone, welcome to my build thread! This thread will be updated as I go. If you have any questions and/or concerns, feel free to comment below or PM me. Thanks, I hope y’all like it! At the same time, I’m also trying to find a fix to a lot of issues with the truck. Many that others are experiencing as well, and some that seem to be isolated, so stay tuned. I’d love to hear your solutions to common problems found on our trucks. The story began when I brought her home on the night of January 3rd, 2017... 20. My truck is a 2016 Gmc Sierra 2500 hd. I want to put new rims on it and more but not overly aggressive tires on it. I was thinking about a 3 inch lift or just a leveling kit on it. However, my issue is that I pull a fifth wheel with it and do not want to kill my clearance from my bed to the trailer when hitched. So, a couple questions... 1. If I did nothing to my truck, what is the max size semi aggressive tire I can put on without rubbing? Current stock is 265 70 r17. 2. Could I still do a leveling or small lift and be safe with a 5th wheel? 3. What offset will give me about a 1/2inch of the tire sticking out? Im new to this stuff so plz dumb it down when you reply. ;)
  21. Here’s my 2015 Silverado 1500 LTZ 4x4. Got a 6 inch Trailmaster lift with 24 inch replicas and 37 inch rbps. Should I do a gear change? If so, what?
  22. Alright let’s cut to the chase. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 6 speed... with 3.08 gears?? Completely crossed my mind when I bout it to look at the gearing but whatever it is what it is. I want to put a 3.5” lift kit on it with 33” mud tires and 20x10 wheels. Now how much of a dog will my truck be? I’m asking from people who have DONE this or have DRIVEN one with close to the same setup. I don’t pull anything and I live in Green Bay so I have fairly flat terrain. What risks am I running here? Yes I would eventually re-gear maybe next summer (summer of ‘19) and I will be putting my stock tires back on in the winter. Will I be doing a whole lot of harm in this one year span? And It’s a pavement princess so I’m not banging it through mud holes. I’ve read many threads on this and none of them really seemed to answer my questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  23. Good Morning Gents Bought myself a Bday present last week. 2017 Silverado Crew Cab Z71 Dealer had done a bunch of things to it listed below and kept dropping the price after they couldn't move it for several months. Finally had to pull the trigger. Rough Country 7 inch lift and step bars Paint Matched Fender flares Moto Metal 20's Nitto Terra Grappler M/Ts 35/12.5 Dealer removed the factory cloth interior installed custom road wire leather interior Back to my Family Chevrolet Roots from my 2015 Ram.
  24. I've researched the net. I've read several threads on this forum. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. I'm getting ready to purchase a new '16 Sierra 1500 and want to add a 2.25 Inch Pro Comp Leveling Kit and 305/55R20 Fuel wheels on it. If I install the lift myself, will it void the warranty? Do I have to have certified mechanics install it to keep the warranty? Any GMC Dealers or warranty specialists on here? Thanks for the input.
  25. HeyGuys, I am a total Newb but am picking up my new 2500HD 4x4 tomorrow or Tuesday depending on upfitters progress. I have been looking for a solution to list my truck about 3-4" (and level) Problem is right now I need to keep my stock wheels and tires 245/70/R17 Anyone know of a good solution that won't destroy the ball joints or other suspension components? Thanks
