  1. GM says this is a product that it could import as soon as 2016. We are fond of Buicks here at GM-Trucks.com with staffers adding one to the family just this week. Would you consider buying a new Buick crossover if you knew it was one of the first vehicles imported to the U.S. from China? Either way tell us why you feel that way if you comment. 2. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 8/17/2015 The Detroit Free Press has reported that GM is considering importing for sale in the U.S. a new crossover larger than the Encore and smaller than the Enclave (think RAV 4 size) from China. Oddly, we had just joked in a story earlier today about SUVs that the Chinese pronounce the word car "Byu-Wick." Like with the Holden Commodore from Australia we know as the Chevy SS, and the new Buick Cascada from GM's Opel in Europe, the UAW has a lot to say about GM vehicles imported from outside North America. Most of what it says is not printable in a family publication. GM says this is a product that it could import as soon as 2016. 3. The Canadian model Buick Allure is also included. Prior models included in the recall included the Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy and Buick Rainier Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL. You can check your own vehicle to see if it is included on this recall at this GM Recall Checker. In our research we noticed that the Buick models also seem to be covered by the ignition switch recall, which should already have been dealt with.
  4. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 8/19/2015 General Motors is expanding a recall for headlights that can overhear and fail, causing the lights to go out. The expanded recall adds the Buick Lacrosse and Pontiac Grand Prix from years around 2005-2007. The Canadian model Buick Allure is also included. Prior models included in the recall included the Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy and Buick Rainier Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL. 5. During the month of June, which included 25 selling days, the company as a whole sold 259,353 vehicles in the US. That's down 3.0% from last June but up 3.4% year over year. A large chunk of those lost sales comes from a lagging fleet market. Rental company sales were down considerably, but purposefully, according to the company. Strong sales by the Buick Encore (up 33.4% vs last June), Cadillac SRX (up 23.5% over last June), Silverado (up 18.4% in June and 14.6% YOY) and Sierra (up 20.8% in June and 8.2% YOY) helped fill the gaps left by weak sales in other areas. The Chevrolet Impala (down 41.5% in June), Cadillac CTS (down 29.4% in June and 39.5% YOY) are among the biggest sales losers. Surprisingly, the new Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukon XL are also lagging, down 44%, 54%, and 22.3% respectively compared to last June. 6. Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 7/1/2015 General Motors has released sales numbers for June and the results are mixed. On one hand, truck and crossover sales are clearly pushing the company forward. On the other, car sales, especially those at Buick and Cadillac are starting to drop off. 7. The two-plus-two front drive Cascada will be a cruiser. It comes with a 200hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and only a six speed automatic (no manual). If you want a sportier ragtop Chevy has the Camaro and Corvette in about a million different configurations. Many drivers want a convertible that does not have huge horsepower, carbon-ceramic brakes and a big price tag. They just want to feel the sun on their face and the wind in their hair. The new Cascada fills a slot in the GM lineup that has gone missing way too long. The yellow posts shown in the last image are the active rollover bars that pop up when needed.
  8. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6/20/2015 Buick showed off its new Cascada's safety systems in a new press release this week. GM is long overdue in adding active rollover protection to its drop-tops, and this system is very welcome. However, what struck us as we checked out the images is that the Cascada is a fantastic looking car. The two-plus-two front drive Cascada will be a cruiser. 10. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 3/26/2015 Buick credits the Enclave for the company's comeback. Eight years ago, the 3-row premium crossover bumped the segment out a bit and was Buick's first new hit. Last year's record sales for the crossover were worthy of some recognition. Thus, Buick has created a well-deserved bronze trophy for itself. The Enclave Tuscan Edition combines the popular Premium and Leather options. The Tuscan will feature a bronze grill and chrome wheels with bronze accents, and will be available in 3 distinctive colors, including White Frost Tricoat, Dark Chocolate Metallic and Ebony Twilight Metallic. It looks handsome and has a premium appearance when the top is lowered - and a perfect, seamless profile when it's up."
  13. GM claims no fatalities have occurred as a result of any of these safety defects.
  14. You might have seen that just a few days ago, I had an opportunity to drive the refreshed 2014 Buick LaCrosse and Regal. What I didn't say, until last night, was that I'm so impressed with the new Buick lineup that they couldn't get me out of them. So, instead of prying my hands off the steering wheel of a Regal GS, they threw me the keys and told me to have fun. So, I'm taking my sweet time driving home. I'm hanging out in Northeast, Ohio for the weekend and can't wait to share a lot of pictures as I drive the GS around the coast of Lake Erie. Middle of next week, I'll be driving this GS back to New Hampshire. Until then, I'll be using this thread to post photos and little details about the 2014 Regal that stand out to me. Here's the GS that "stole".... I couldn't ask for a better road trip vehicle. "My" GS is front-wheel-drive, manual transmission, and comes with a turbo-charged 2.0L 4-cylinder. It's almost the best of both worlds; great fuel economy and performance on demand when needed. On my 300-mile leg yesterday I averaged 30.5MPG. Impressive for a "performance" vehicle. With a starding price of $36,905, this GS also has the optional sunroof, premium Crystal Red Tintcoat paint, and the Driver Confidence I package (Lane Departure, distance follow, collision alert...). Our example Regal GS has an MSRP of $40,415 (includes a $925 destination fee) My favorite feature so far has to be the 8-inch LCD screen in the gauge cluster. I'll stop by and post more stuff every day for the next week. The only days I won't be able to contribute is Monday (I'll be flying to NYC to cover the Escalade launch...more on that later).
  15. Good morning everyone! I'm currently in Cincinnati, Ohio getting ready to drive the entire 2014 Buick line. That includes a significant refresh to the 2014 Regal and 2014 LaCrosse. I'm pretty pumped, because the new refreshed models are seriously nice. From leather wrapped volume knobs in the LaCrosse to an 8-inch LCD screen in the gauge luster in the Regal, these are not your father's Buick. A significant sidebar to all this is that 2014 is the 110th year for Buick. So, starting today at a little after 8am, eastern, check back in and we'll start our day driving the 2014 Buick lineup. Here's a few stock photos to show you the new LaCrosse and Regal to get started. Regal LaCrosse
