  1. Replaced my stock exhaust ('19 Sierra, 4WD, Extended Cab) with a Borla. What the hell do I do with the stock exhaust? Can't envision a need for it anywhere. Just hold on to it or is there a market for stock gear? Just looking for suggestions so it doesn't sit in my garage!
  2. Trading in truck and looking to sell the exhaust I had on it for about a year. It’s in great shape. Asking $650 with shipping costs paid by me. Part number is 140550BC on borla’s website. Pm or reply if interested. Located in Orlando, Fl if anyone wants to local pickup and avoid dealing with shipping. IMG_3932.mov
  3. So I'm getting a leveling kit installed on my truck soon and thinking about running 33x12.55R20. Anyone running 33's and how does your shift points feel? Also is anyone making an exhaust for the 3.0 duramax or a tuner? Any information will help.
  4. Cutout system installed on my Trail Boss
  5. I swapped out my sto k muffler for a carven tr and ran new 3" piping to a single exit exhaust. Although it sounds good around 1600-2500 rpm it's just too loud especially with a baby in the truck. With the stock resonator it's just too quiet. Has anyone tried a aftermarket resonator like the vibrant series just to take the edge off the exhaust without sacrificing too much. Thank you
  6. Installed the borla type-s exhaust couple days ago. build quality is excellent, fitment was absolutely spot on. took me 5 beers and about 2 hours... my thoughts.. on the system... also have a type S on my SRT... 1. Cold start is aggressive! It literally barks.... I was very surprised by this, much louder than my SRT system... 2. After engine warms up and rpms settle down it has the very standard s-type deep burble at idle. If the truck is parked and just running, walking behind it is just music to my ears. Very deep little burble that just sounds great. 3. As you ramp up the rpms and roll through the gears, the sound is deep and pronounced, this is the loudest type-s exhaust I’ve heard. Not in a bad way, just know that you will hear this exhaust unless you absolutely butter the throttle and accelerate like an old woman. 4. No drone in 9th or 10th gear.. no goofy noises or vibrations with cylinder deactivation stuff so that’s a major plus. conclusion happy with the purchase, louder than expected but still nothing too crazy. Getting the ATAK version would be overboard for a pickup in my opinion... engineers at borla said their touring style is identical to the gmc branded perf exhaust in regards to sound output. so their 3 levels are touring- tame type-s - pretty big jump, aggressive! Crazy cold start that barks atak- crazy man over the top sound, I don’t think many guys would go this extreme will get better videos soon
  7. Hello all, So I’m currently running the 12909 Magnaflow 3.5” 22 inch muffler and have been eyeballing the Magnaflow 15278 catback system for the RCSB Sierra. The problem is that the catback comes with an 18 inch muffler rather than a 22 so I expect that it’d be louder, but by how much? I currently really like the sound of the 22” muffler while running LTs and a catless y-pipe but I’m afraid that if I decide to fork out money for the catback it would just be way too loud. Anybody ever used an 18” inch Magnaflow with long tubes?
  8. 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 31K miles. So I straight piped my exhaust and deleted the third cat now I get about 9 mpg literally went through half a tank in one day. Can anyone shoot me in the right direction as to why this is! My guess back pressure but I keep reading things that go back and forth about it. Long story short I just bought a new cat and borla atak full system to try and fix this issue. Running 93O
  9. I’ve been having some issues with the exhaust system I built for my 2015 Sierra 1500 5.3. There is way too much drone. I have TSP long tube headers with a catted y pipe going to a manual exhaust cutout, then some pipe, a flow master 50 series, more pipe, then turns out the side before the axle and sticks out maybe an inch past the quarter panel (all 3in pipe). The muffler could be moved foreword or back. Also I don’t have an exhaust tip. With the cutout closed it is not very loud at idle or on the throttle but when cruising it has a terrible drone. It’s very annoying. Because of this I’ve been leaving the cutout open all the time. With it open, it’s very loud and I have to watch it around cops but cruising on highway it isn’t annoying and it doesn’t have any drone cruising. I’d like to modify the system in two ways. I want to get rid of the drone and I want to switch to a louder muffler, probably a glass pack. The 50 series it way too mild for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Finally received the Gibson cat-back exhaust (Part #: GPE-65692) after 2 weeks and had it installed a couple of days ago to replace my Magnaflow muffler. It’s a single-in, dual outlet stainless steel cat-back exhaust. Shop charged me a $100 install and they put 2 weld taps on each of the joints for when the clamps loosen over time. First start-up after install was loud, I mean it was barking. I was like, who the hell said Gibson exhausts were tame ?. It has a very rich deep tone to it. After driving it for a couple of days, the volume has mellowed quite a bit. Loving it. I have experienced the GM Performance exhaust a few times and I will say the Gibson is a touch louder. The Gibson is also a bit faster, more responsive exhaust. It seems it’s tuned for low revs. The 6.2 engine is not a very high revving engine but with the Gibson, it sounds a bit like the engine is revving faster than it actually is. I didn’t get that sensation from the GM Performance exhaust. Idle is dead silent, almost like engine off. There is very minimal drone on the highway. I actually don’t mind this. Just a little so you know it’s there. Diameter wise, it’s a little smaller than the GM Performance exhaust so not sure of any performance gains. I did it just for sound though. I paid $495 including tax and free shipping for this. I did already have a 10% off coupon from RealTruck. The bang for your buck is quite astonishing. Most systems available for this truck cost 2x-3x as much. It’s still on sale for $508 on RealTruck (https://realtruck.com/p/gibson-exhaust-systems/v/gmc/sierra-1500/2019/). I have no regrets, one of the best purchases I’ve made so far on this truck. As always, sound is very subjective so your mileage may vary but it’s hard to go wrong with a cat-back system for $500. Cold start-up below (didn’t quite capture as well as I would have liked). AT4 Gibson Exhaust.mp4
  11. Hi, Has anyone else noticed the smell of exhaust fumes from other vehicles in your cabin? I haven't noticed this issue anywhere near as bad in previous vehicles. Isn't the cabin filter supposed to filter out the exhaust gases? I haven't checked to see if it's even there(behind the lower glove department?). Is this normal?
  12. I have 2019 Silverado 1500LD stock to the bone. If install a cat back exhaust just a simple street 40 series flowmaster or a super10 flowmaster. Will it hurt my MPG? IF so do yall know by how much? I've never owned a truck I've only owned Camaros and Corvettes so this Pickup Ownership is new to me.
  13. Hey everyone, I need some advice! I've spent countless hours using the search function, sending PM's to members (and you guys don't need to respond again if you don't want to), and listening to YouTube videos (which suck because you can't hear what they sound like from inside the cab going down the road)...but I still can't make up my mind! I want to do a muffler swap on my truck (details in signature). I don't want to spend the money on a full cat-back system...I'm just going to swap the muffler and cut the factory tail pipe so it dumps over the rear axle. I want the sound to be deep and aggressive under acceleration....but close to stock (no drone) while cruising....and without any goofy stuff going on when it switches to V4 mode. My budget is around $200. I've narrowed my choices down to 5 different mufflers....and will explain my concerns & reasons for hesitation with each one. In no particular order: Magnaflow 22" 12589 - I'm concerned about it being too quiet (unless I'm at WOT) for people to even notice, and also worried about drone while cruising (I've heard too many people that complained about magnaflows having drone) Borla Sport 19131347 - I'm concerned about it being too loud in the cab while cruising and switching V8/V4 (or just too loud in the cab in general) Borla Touring 19131346 - Basically just concerned that it's going to be too tame, and I won't hardly be able to tell any difference from stock. Not worried about the drone with this one though. Dynomax VT 17949 - I'm worried about the spring/valve assembly breaking or rattling...and having to get it fixed or replaced after a short period of time. I like the concept, but the moving parts make me nervous. Dynomax Ultra Flo 20" 17233 - Can't find a single sound clip of this muffler on a 5.3; worried about drone and V8/V4 noise I would appreciate any advice (or sound clips) you all can provide. I'm a nervous wreck over this situation, and I can only afford to do this once! Also, please skip the comments about Corsa (I know they're awesome, but I refuse to spend that much money on a muffler) and straight pipes (been there, done that...over it). Thanks in advance everyone!
  14. Trying to decide between a corsa or borla exhaust for the Silverado 5.3 with the dual rear exit. Not many videos besides the one corsa video on YouTube.
  15. So I have a 04 Silverado crew cab z71 4wd. I have a 2.5 inch lift, cold air intake, and 285/70/17 mud tires. I’m looking to turn my truck into a little bit more of a power house. I plan on getting all new spark plugs (need help with which spark plugs) and a whole new exhaust from the headers back. (Also need help finding that). I’m trying to get the most performance out of these upgrades as I can as I am getting a inTune i3 8245 Platinum + Custom DiabLew Tune as soon as I decide what spark plugs, and full exhaust system I plan on getting. I want the most performance I can get out of these upgrades.
  16. I just bought a 2015 GMC Sierra Double Cab 2WD 5.3L and I'm trying to find a full headers back exhaust system. If it helps any to tell what i like, I like the sound of my dads F150 5.0L with long tube headers and mbrp exhaust. I like loud but not obnoxiously loud. I like a nice sound of a V8.
  17. I was wondering if anyone knew when Borla was going to come out with the ATAK catback system for the 2019 5.3s and if they’re planning to at all. I see where they have the touring and the s type but not the ATAK.
  18. I've got a 2004 2500 (non-HD) crew cab and i'm doing an engine swap to a 460hp crate so i'm looking to upgrade the exhaust; most likely just a cat back maybe some shorty headers. My problem is trying to find any non-hd systems, anybody have any experience to know if they're truly different or if they're interchangeable? I'd prefer a single out if possible. here's the engine going in: https://www.high-performance-engines.com/chevy-lq4-6-0l-base-engine-460hp-crate-engine-p/hp93.htm
  19. I just bought a 2010 Silverado LTZ 4x4 last Thursday and a few days ago it started leaking oil, and now I noticed it smokes from the engine bay on startup. It's not a lot of smoke, but it smokes on startup and smells like something is burning and then a few seconds later it'll stop. I opened up my engine bay and it looks like it is coming from the passenger side exhaust manifold, maybe a worn exhaust gasket? I'm not sure. It is white smoke, and there is a little bit of white smoke coming from the exhaust as well. It's hardly noticeable from the exhaust, but when looking in the engine bay you can clearly see it. If anyone has any ideas what this could be please help me out.
  20. All - I have for sale the Borla Cat Back Exhaust in Touring Edition: PN 140535 on the Borla website. I had this installed new from the factory, the Touring is a fantastic, rumble... I would call it just the right amount of deep sound. You won't believe how nice it sounds over factory exhaust until you try it. It is in great shape (almost like new) as you can see from the Pics, I polished the tips and the muffler to show you just how clean it really is. The rest of the tubes were left as is, since you will be installing it and getting it dirty anyway. I live in South GA for Pickup, 30 min north of Tallahassee. Price is $800 if I ship it, or $700 local pickup. Let me know if you have any questions ! Link to Hear the sound: https://www.borla.com/products/silverado_sierra_1500_catback_exhaust_touring_part__140535.html

  23. I have been told by my dealer that gm performance exhaust will not fit the 2019 custom trail boss - tried to email gm and they refer back to dealer - anybody overhear If they will release one ?
  24. Thinking about doing an intake, exhaust, and tune to my new-to-me 2017 Sierra 1500 5.3L 8 speed. I miss the throttle response my 2013 6.2L had, it would lurch forward at the slightest tap of the gas. I also want to hear the engine, its so quiet! Cold air intakes seem to be disputed for having any performance gains, so are they really worth the $$$ in terms of better air flow? healthier engine? sound? any words of wisdom? Your $0.02 is always appreciated! I'm looking at the Magnaflow 15267 catback as it seems to sound pretty good for what I'm going for. I've read that there is a flap in the factory exhaust system that creates back pressure for AFM shift into V4 mode. I do like V4 mode and would not want to go away with it. How can a catback system integrate this feature? Also, what would be the rough performance improvements if any from a catback exhaust? Any other options that would sound similar and perform better/keep V4 mode for around the same price as Mgnaflow (~$800)? As for the tune, I know ZERO about tuning but do want to get rid of the rev limiter, speed limiter, get some performance gains without having to put midgrade or premium fuel in. How does the tuning process work? about how much do they cost? how can it be adjusted in the future? I assume anything like this would void some sort of warranty? Anyone do something similar and can attest to their experience with an intake, tune, exhaust?
  25. So I just got my truck GMC Sierra SLT Premium plus package with a 5.3l has been 3 months and put 8k miles on it, as you can tell I daily drive this thing. I love it, best choice i ever made after previously owning a dodge charger RT. So I've been looking up exhaust videos and I'm not sure which direction to go. If you guy have ever heard of the 2013 Yukon Denali's those stock sound deep and perfect. Thats what I'm trying to aim for, don't want any drone because its a daily truck go for a lot of long drives. What would you guys suggest? I'm leaning towards a resonator delete or just muffler delete.
