  1. so I brought my truck in to get detail this past weekend. When I picked it up and drove maybe 50ft my doors locked and then kept constantly locking as if someone was pushing the lock button repeatedly. I took it back to the detailer and of course they claim they didn't do anything and they're not on the hook for fixing it. Has anyone had this issue before? I had a mechanic look at it and he said there is nothing wrong with the switches or door actuators. The truck is now at the dealer and I am hoping I dont have an astronomical bill to pay.
  2. Hey guys, I have a 2017 Silverado High Country and I installed a 6in Fabtech lift with 35in nitto tires back in September 2017 and since then I've been having issues with my cruise control disengaging/turning off at anything above 69mph. When I'm traveling above 69mph, cruise control will turn on and illuminate on the dash, but it wont engage or lock on. Even when I have the cruise set at 65mph and I try to increase the speed to 70mph, it'll immediately cut off/disengage. I took it to the dealership around January 2018 and they told me since the truck has bigger/heavier tires, the computer is reading the wheels going slower than what it reads on the speedometer. They basically said I need to recalibrate the computer to read the new tire size. BUT, a friend of mine also said I could possibly need to re-gear to 4.56 since I'm running heavier tires, which could fix the cruise control cutting off. If anyone has experienced this issue, you help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
  3. So I noticed in between the driver and rear seat of my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT underneath the truck was a harness hanging there. I looked up the part number to see what it's purpose was, because I couldn't find anywhere it plugged into. The part number is PBT-GF30. Can someone help me with this? Also my truck is idling in between 500rpm to a little over 1,000rpm when the truck is in park. I changed the intake air flow sensor but didn't do the trick.
  4. 98 Sierra 1500 5.0 vortec 4x4 SLE ext cab 295xxx Ill try to keep this short, any help appreciated thx in advance. My front signal and head light started doing all sorts of weird things head lights flashing with 4 ways, left signal wouldn't work with head lights active. The interior lights where acting weird. Work sometimes. The cluster gage illumination would not turn off. And there was nothing to rear rail or third break lights. Also some funky noises coming from the combo light relay So I thought it was ignition harness, cluster, dimmer switch relay. All fuses where fine. But my cig lighter fuse keeps blowing. So I went to junk yard and grabs some parts. So I tested battery and all the grounds I could find and cleaned them. As a changed parts nothing changed. So I was checking the wire harnesses and found that on the wires that runs back to rear of bed on driver side frame was melted up in spot and arking against the frame. So I patched the wires. Now the truck wont start and no lights will work. If you press break peddle the signal light on cluster light up. But not actual signal lights and if u try to turn fan on it turns the signal lights on cluster on and as ur turn it up the lights get brighter and my interior light on driver side floor won't turn off. All fuses seem fine beside the cig fuse. I'm out of guesses.
  5. I need help im trying to lower my 1995 c2500 extended cab short bed 6 lug truck and neither djm or belteck can help me find the right kit any help or advice would be much appreciated thanks in advance Lolo85
  6. Hello, Took my 04 Silverado 4.3L V6 into the dealer to get a ton of work done. 1. Head Gasket 2. Oil pan gasket. 3. Valve cover. 4 coolant flush. 5. Break line bleed. 6. Replace center support bearing. I'm getting this strong burnt rubber smell from my truck. But only after I have driven it. This morning I let the truck idle to operating temp with the garage door down to see how strong it got. Truck did not smell like burning rubber, I turned my A/C up to see if the compressor was causing it. Still, nothing. Seems like any burn off from the repairs are not causing the odor. Theres no bags or debre stuck on the exhaust. Checked all the wiring they would have messed with in the engine bay, no melting everything is where it should be. Looked at the replacement center support bearing and it looks great. No squiling, no grinding truck runs better than it ever has......... anyone else run into this? Anyone more experienced than I am have any ideas? Thank you for your time.
  7. So I have this 2000 Silverado with a 4L60E auto transmission. It’s got over 200k miles. The 4.3 v6 engine runs great, but half of the time the transmission will barely move the truck. (This is a standard cab 2wd version.) if I’m stopped and I put it in reverse I have to give it a really heavy push on the gas to get it to move.. but on the other side of the coin it will work fine sometimes. The transmission will search aimlessly for a gear but works fine once it finds one. Some days it won’t go over 30mph and other days it works just fine. Could I just have a bad filter or something or do I need a new transmission? Thanks!
  8. I have 2 led light bars under my rear bumper that I use to reverse at night that are currently wired to a switch in the cab. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to have them wired into my reverse lights and also the switch so that they will come on when I put the truck in reverse but I could also control them manually.
  9. Hey! This is a long shot but a little while ago I saw a guy on here who posted his alpine restyle setup for his Silverado and I thought it looked sweet! Well Mostly the speaker pods for the dash. Anyway the full alpine restyle system that gives you the speaker pods is stupid expensive and I already have a system in my truck so I emailed alpine asking if I could purchase them separate and they told me no haha so I was wondering if anyone on here would have any idea how I could get my hands on a set of dash pods or if someone is willing the sell theirs? Thanks !
  10. Hello all, I have recently purchased a 2017 GMC Sierra SLE Crew Cab, I have a question based on the package after I have done some research on it. With the badges it has on it and the packages the sales guy said it has per those packages I am questioning the ability to have that many on a vehicle. I am hoping someone can help me know if it is real or not. List is below. 1. SLE 2. Kodiak 3. Elevation 4. Z71 5. All Terrain
  11. I was just curious as to whether people ran spacers after they did their lifts. I have read that you need a 1.5" spacer on the rear after adding a 4.5" lift to compensate for the front track width being wider.
  12. So out of the blue I replaced my alternator and started up the truck and my gas pedal is hard can’t push it down to accelerate.did a computer scan and had hard codes of p1221 and p1120 which says tps ?
  13. Hey guys I know there are threads out there for it but I have looked and can't seem to narrow it down. I currently have a 2016 GMC Sierra All Terrain leveled 2.5". I am looking at upgrading to a Zone 4.5" and running bigger tires on my stock 20" All Terrain wheels. The question I have though is about the shocks. I want to upgrade my shocks right now, looking at the bilsteins. But my question is if I bought the bilstein (5100's) would I be able to run those on the 2.5" level and the 4.5" lift? I appreciate any help and information! Pictures or experience with either setup or future setup is helpful as well!
  14. Hi, I'm pretty new to this website. Came across it when I was looking for an answer to my problem . . . I don't know too much about trucks.. cars....4 wheel vehicles. I just bought this 06 crew cab 1500 silverado 4.3L had about 80k miles on it. I actually noticed the sound when I was test driving it from the dealer. Now it has about 101k miles and noise is still the same. it makes a rattling noise, almost like a metal noise at LOW rpms only. Doesn't matter if its 35 or 75mph. Have to be cruising like slight amount of acceleration. Sounds like its coming from the engine.. I checked a bunch of forums all saying different things. my truck is stock, as far as i know.. one of the forums mentioned it could bea bad alternator, but I have no clue. any help? Sorry I'm a complete noob. Ivy
  15. The battery on my Tahoe is good, batteries in my key fobs are good. When leaving the car and locking the vehicle. I come back and it won’t unlock from the key fob. Once I put the key in the door and turn it, than the key fob works again. Anyone got any information about this problem?
  16. I recently acquired a 1951 Chevrolet 6100 missing its engine and would like to refurbish it. However, Instead of putting in the original engine (Chevrolet 235) I am looking for an engine that came out in the next 10-15 years to put in my truck that will out put 200+ horsepower without being out of touch with the truck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  17. See a lot of questions asked about this and not a lot of set info on the upgrade. Hope this helps even anyone trying to set it up. **READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND WATCH ALL VIDEOS PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING PURCHASING OR INSTALLATION** Apple CarPlay / Android Auto functionality is not supported in any 2014-2015 (Many 2016) Silverado/Sierra’s. This is due to neither application being available from Google or Apple when these vehicles being built, therefore not an available option during these model years. The following instructions are designed to simplify the process as much as possible. Three things are required for this upgrade (ONE) Radio Module, (ONE) HMI Module, and (ONE) USB Hub 2016+. Search around for the modules, they are available for purchase from many different locations. EBay, totaled vehicles, junkyards, or other various websites to find them. AGAIN, if the part numbers are not listed below DO NOT purchase them. It is highly encouraged to not try and cut corners with purchasing part numbers of modules not listed as they cannot be flashed to work properly. **DISCONNECT THE BATTERY PRIOR TO INSTALLING FRESHLY UPDATED MODULES** TOOLS REQUIRED: Trim Removal tool 10 mm Socket 7 mm Socket PARTS REQUIRED USB HUB P/N 13519224 (BLACK) P/N 13509943 (WHITE) HMI Module USE ONE OF THE BELOW P/N’S IF YOUR TRUCK CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH NAVIGATION. ONLY REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ONE P/N. 13506387 23402909 84062056 84293243 Once acquiring the parts you can now send them to be flashed. These modules will be flashed to your VIN and will then be plug and play. Copy the link and follow the prompts. http://www.whiteautoandmedia.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=98&category_id=44&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=54 If you have followed all the directions up and to this point, select yes for hardware match. You can chose if you would like the maps updated on your NAV if you so choose. You will be emailed your order number from WAMS, this is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. You will be required to ship your parts either FedEx or UPS, they will not accept packages from USPS. You will need to write your order number on the box to ensure your order is properly handled. Turn around is approximately one week from shipment to return. ONLY ship your (ONE) Radio Module and (ONE) HMI Module. Maintain your USB Hub. Once you have received your parts from WAMS you can begin installation. Disconnect your battery prior to installation. To install the radio module watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2MYuuyqLrs. For the purpose of this install start the video at 1:00. Stop the video at 2:04, the radio module is visible with a green connector on the far left. Simply begin disconnecting all of the connectors plugged into the module, once all are removed you can slide the module out of the dash. It is retained only by the tension of the cables plugged into it. Replace with your new module, you can now continue the video and finish putting the dash back together. Stop the video at 4:10. To install the HMI Module watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFe2gwlOsD4. Stop the video at 2:00. The module being described behind the crossbar is what you are replacing. Remove all connectors, the module is retained with a plastic clip on top. Installing the module along with the glove box, is self explanatory. Take note of the plastic tabs on the sides of the USB Hub you are preparing to install. Those tabs can be depressed with a dental pick and gradually removed out of place. Once removed, disconnect the harness and reconnect. Installation is now complete. You can now reconnect your battery and start your vehicle. Initial start up might take a few seconds to initialize, and temperature defaulting to 32 degrees is normal. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay require hardwire connection, so to test functionality it needs to be connected to the newly installed USB hub. MVI Inc (https://www.gm-navigation.com/) offers kits and other customization options if the above is not something you feel comfortable acquiring on your own. Hope this helps, should be pretty cut and dry. There might be other methods, but this was the cheapest I discovered. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
  18. Hi guys, hopefully someone out there in GM world can help me. I'm installing an aftermarket running board lights which has courtesy lights and turn signal lights. I looked every where to get some concrete answer where i can tap into the OEM parking lights wire, courtesy light wire, and turn signal wire. Now, I realize i can run them into the hood and into each headlamp but I much rather keep the connections neat inside the cab. I looked at the GMUPFitter manual and quite honestly it might as well be in chinese to me. If any one has any info with pictures broken down Barney style I would appreciate it. Also if you recommend not tapping into any wire coming from the BCM then where would be the best place to tap into? Thanks in advance to everyone who is willing to help! @pgamboa any suggestions?
  19. Hey guys, I got a 2015 Silverado 5.3l. 138,250km. started ticking sometime last winter. Would happen instantly at start up and last about 5 minutes then would fade away. Sounded like a lifter. Took it to the dealer they said they couldn't hear it. Sound went away so left it. Fast forward to this winter and as Soon as the weather started to cool down I noticed the ticking again. Took it back to the dealer said they couldn't hear it again. I went and picked up my truck right at closing, soon as I fired her up the sound was there but everyone was gone so no one to hear it. I took a video. Next day I called the dealer, sent the video. Took like a week to get back to me. In the meantime I had taken videos pretty much every time I started it. Long story short after a brief fight with them about them trying to say it's normal etc they agreed that it sounded like a noise coming from the valve train. Left my truck with them, they called me said they had to change all lifters. Went to pick up my truck and on start up the sound is still there. This was a month ago. Sent more videos and a previous video from before they did the work and they are saying they can't hear it again. Took it in in person they agreed that there's an issue again and they will look at it. Now they are saying it's possible bad injector noise but they can't figure out which one ?. In the meantime I took it to another dealership they changed the vacuum pump. After that the sound changed. Now it's no longer at start up but once the truck has reached operating temperature and is more of a dull sound. Took it back to that same dealer who did the vacuum pump and they said valve train noise and deffo not injectors. But they won't work on it because the other dealer already did. They didn't change the VLOM or the cam. I had/have no check engine lights. Truck runs awesome. Sometimes rough idle. Any ideas what it could be?
  20. I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 2 wheel drive 4.3l v6 and the transmission went out yesterday. I was wondering what transmissions are interchangeable with my truck. Please help.
  21. I was wondering what a good swap would be. I have the stock 5.3 but I want some umph. I travel for work and still need gas mileage but I have hit a dead end in research. Can anyone help me?
  22. I know the 6112s are semi-new to the community. My question is what would be the lowest possible notch I can install these and still have enough clearance to fit 275X 65R 20 KO2s. I’d imagine the notch settings are similar to the 5100s accept there is 1 extra notch I believe. I have been searching online for the past week and cannot find anyone that confirms the lowest possible setting to fit these tires. I know I can install them at the highest setting and fit just fine, But I am trying to keep rake in the rear due to occasional towing and i do not want to add a leveling block to the rears. I was thinking the third notch (1.25” of lift) would work but I’m not sure if It will get rubbing. Does anyone have any idea on this? I currently have a 2.5 inch leveling spacer but do not want to install it when I switch to the Bilstein 6112s. Thanks!
  23. So I posted last week about an issue I've been having for quite some time. I've recently got a big up my butt about getting it take care of, and was messing around with it and discovered something new that may help with the diagnosis. When I push the voice activation button, the system says "ready" then beeps. At this point, if I say nothing it will tell me some of the commands I can say. however if after the beep I say anything, it doesn't respond at all, and after about 30 seconds will say "goodbye" and hang up on me. Now, if I press the OnStar button which uses the same microphone, the OnStar rep can hear me just fine, so I know its not the microphone. Any ideas?
  24. Hello! I am new to the forum game, but I didn't find a thread about the issue I have. I have a 2014 Sierra Denali with a 2018 exterior. The issue I have is that the headlights will go out after a few seconds of starting the truck. The lights will stay on indefinitely while the truck is off but after like 3 seconds of starting it, the lights will flicker once quickly and then go out. Scanner can read the signal from the switch getting to the bcm but the lights stay off. To make things stranger, the high beams work just fine, I can turn them on even after the lows go out but only the highs stay on. Is anyone having a similar issue? TL;DR - 2018 Headlights on 2014 Sierra go out seconds after starting the truck. While truck is off they work fine. Highbeams work fine. Help.
  25. I bought my wife a 2019 trail boss great truck only thing is she has a hard time seeing over the dash to drive. It does not have an adjustable driver's seat for up and down. Does anyone know of any seat risers (manuel/or electric) that i can install to help her see so she can drive her truck? Thanks for any input on the topic
