  1. So I think someone is trying to steal my truck. For the second time in a couple of months, I've discovered my window trim pulled up out of the channel right above the door handle. Unfortunately, my truck won't fit inside my garage since I added the lift. Is there any way I can prevent them from using such a tool to open my door?
  2. I need to replace my fuel tank on my 2006 Chevy Silverado Reg cab short bed 1500. I can not find a used fuel tank anywhere the has the two ports on either side of the fuel pump. Anyone have any idea of where I can get a used one?? Also, why does every other tank I see online only have one port next to the fuel pump, not two like mine?!?!
  3. The A/C belt in my 2004 Silverado 1500 4.8L snapped recently, and I believe it’s because one of the pulleys seized up. 2 days before the truck was making a relatively loud screech from the engine compartment at startup. The belt was a gator-type and installed on 12/10/17. I’m not an expert at engine repair, so what pulleys drive the A/C belt? And if one of them is truly seized, how do I properly fix it?
  4. Hi there! Man it's been a long time since I been on this site! That rusty 01 is long gone!! LOL Anyway, I have a dilemma, we just purchased a 2013 Yukon XL Denali (kind of a rushed purchase, figured I could deal with the moon roof, I was wrong). My question is, what can I do to get more head room in this thing? Are there any seat mods that can be done to give me a little more room? I am 6'3" and totally uncomfortable driving this beast! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  5. As the title says, can anyone in the Houston, TX area recommend me a place to have my AMP Powersteps installed or be willing to help me do them for some compensation and beer?? I was planning to do this myself but have been so busy I can't give 4hrs to stumble through this on my own.. 4Wheel Parts quoted me at $350 which seems a little steep for something that is simply bolted on, a harness run and plugged into the OBDII Port. Can anybody help me out??? Thanks, Lance
  6. My 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 lost all oil pressure, and then a little later engine shut off. Did not make any loud noises, It just died. When we went to restart it, we could here the starter engage, but the engine wouldn't turn over. So we had it towed, and the guy at the tow shop put a wrench on it and tried to turn it, but was unable to. We have done no further troubleshooting, this happened on January 1, 2018. We assumed it is seized. What I am wondering is what you guys think, is it likely that it seized or is something else more likely to be the problem? If it is seized what part would have seized up? And would it be better to rebuild the engine, or to put a new engine in it? The truck has about 200k miles on it, and ran perfectly before this happened. It is the new body style, btw.
  7. I need help finding a component for my fuel system. I dropped the gas tank in my 2005 GMC Sierra (because of hurricane harvey and the truck has sat for awhile) and found a 90 degree connector with a plug in it, that has a broken hose connection from what looks like a vent line on the rear of the tank. I cannot seem to locate this fitting anywhere, I've looked at autozone, rockauto, oreillys, and various GM parts dealers online with no luck. I've attached pictures of where it's broken. Do I even need this line? Could I plug it off? If anything I suppose I could tap a new fitting on somehow if push came to shove. Thanks in advance!
  8. Hoping to find someone who has owned or lifted or both a stock Silverado LS. I have yet to find anyone with experience or seen this exact lift. I am narrowed down to either a 5" with 33's or 7" with 35's. With how low it sits, is 5" going to be enough or will it still be very low compared to stock trucks nowadays? I'll be using the stock 16" wheels. How much will it affect the acceleration?
  9. Hey all! So, as y’all know I have a 2014 Silverado. I installed LED reverse and cargo bulbs a couple months ago but I noticed there’s interference, and I don’t know what to do to fix it. Calling all electricians out there that know what I could do to fix this. Open for any responses, suggestions, and solutions. Thanks, y’all!
  10. I have a1999 Silverado 2500 4x4 6.0 that I just got running again it has been sitting for 2 years because my girls dad was going through some rough time and didn't really care now 2 years later he is in no shape to be under a hood or on his back messing with the thing anyways I needed a vehicle and he said if I could get it running I could use it I went and bought a can of sea foam a 10gal gas can with gas and battery put everything in/on and it started right up like it was nothing I was like sweet since then witch was 2 days before this post ive don a oil change wit 10w30 Castrol edge high millage and k&n oil filter a much needed bath all new lights toped off dexcool, power steering, witch is leaking but the whole reason I was making this post was when I stop at nights 2 things happen AND ONLY SOMTIMES the gas peddles feels like its getting stuck when I go to APPLY presser but not on release and it idles funny but if I put it in natural and rev it the put it back in gear it will idle normal the rest of the time till the light turns green but at the next light it may or may not do it what do you think it could be
  11. I've been working on my 14 Silverado the past couple weekends. I've replaced the ac condenser, the radiator, ac compressor and belt (belt was a btch!). I took the serpentine belt off to put the ac compressor belt on today and now I've got 3 or 4 inches of slack in the serp belt. I had to use a pry bar to move the belt tensioner to get the serp belt off, so I don't know if the tensioner is bad. It doesn't squeak or anything. I can't find the belt diagram for these newer models. I've found a spec for the serp belt for 72" length and I measured for the correct length. Any help is appreciated! I've gotta get this truck back on the road!
  12. Hey guys, so like the title says, I may be having an issue with my brakes, which is something very dangerous at any time but especially when you are on the highway going 70 MPH as often as I am. I apologize if this has already been covered but I did not see anything on it after searching this forum and google. So here's what happened. Last night I left my home in NOLA to go to school 2 hours away in Lafayette. I was taking it wasy and enjoying the drive. I left around 7-7:15. I dropped my girlfriend off at her house and then got on interstate to go to school. After an hour of driving I got into a large rainstorm. I was driving over one of the overpasses and on the downslope I realized that water had pooled at the bottom as it acts as a hill right there on the interstate, bringing you up then down and then right back up to another overpass, all in less than 300 feet. But when I was going down I tried to engage my brakes and THE PEDAL WOULDN'T MOVE!!!! I started to get worried as I knew that there was traffic not extremely far ahead and didn't want to slam into the back of someone as 70 MPH in a rainstorm and traffic. I kept trying to engage the brakes for the next 20 seconds but it felt like an hour. The brakes acted like they would if you had the engine off and you constantly pressed and released the brake pedal until you could not push it anymore from its normal position. I will say that it seemed like the truck was trying to slow itself down like if the brakes were enabled but I know it was not from me as the pedal was not moving like I said. There was nothing behind the pedal as I made a quick pass under the pedal with my foot throughout all this commotion and looked down for a second to check. I also did a thorough inspection to see if anything was down there that could've prevented me from moving the brake when I got off at the next exit wondering if I had dropped something that could've almost caused serious injuries and possibly death. Nothing was there. I have only had one other issue with this truck and it is just the oil life remaining sensor and that has never bothered me as I don't change the oil based on % life remaining. This issue just has me worried about my safety, the safety of my passengers, and the safety of others if this ever occured again and ended worse than it did. I am planning to bring the truck to the dealership Wednesday as I don't have time to do so before that and I won't be needing it again until Friday. My only thoughts as of right now is that maybe stabilitrack was engaged since I was going around a downhill turn at 70 MPH (it was not a hard turn, but still a slight turn) and the truck could've sensed that one of the wheels was breaking loose or something. But whatever is was, it had me a bit worried during the second hour of the trip. If this is what stabilitrack does when it engages, I don't think I want it much anymore!! I'd MUCH rather be able to manually override any system especially in this case. The truck slowed down some but very little. More than if the brakes were not engaged but not enough to make me believe that they were slowing the truck down at any significant rate. I also was forced to hit the decent sized puddle at a decent rate since I couldn't get the brakes to activate before hitting it. ANY INFO ON WHAT THIS COULD BE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Thanks in advance, - Mike
  13. Hey all, SO let me start by mentioning I changed out my stock lower ball joints to Moog lower ball joints on November 5th, 2016. This being said, I removed the stock LBJ after 40k miles (20k on level w/ stock tires, 20k on 6" RCX knuckle and spacer lift w/ 35x12.5 tires and 20x9 rims @ 0 offset), and it looks like I am needing to replace them AGAIN! Barely even 10k miles later I am seeing the same irregular wear pattern as when I had the stock ball joints. I greased them when new and at oil change (every 5k mark). I got the vehicle aligned the following day after I installed the new LBJ btw, and I also changed the UCA to cognito arms at the same time. What I am curious of is if the issue is lying in the stock rancho shocks and the spacer lift maybe being too rough on the LBJ on the truck, this being said, does anyone else with more knowledge/experience in this area have any advice or other possible causes? I have searched the internet and haven't found anything really definitive so Im at a loss. I am at 50k right now and will have the truck at the shop within the week to get the alignment checked as well as other routine maintenance performed. I am just at a total loss and don't want to run through these new tires nearly as fast as I went through my old ones (barely even 25k miles before the edges were at 10% tread remaining at best) The rear tires are wearing beautifully but the fronts are wearing from the outside, in. The outer scalloped edges are all even and smoothed out, whereas the interior side of the tire still has extremely defined edges that look practically brand new I'll get photos and attach for reference. Thanks in advance for any help.
  14. I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 I'm having a problem with my lights, at night when I turn my lights on, the blinker lights stays on in the dash, and the actual lights slightly stay on in the front, rear, and on the mirrors. When I turn a blinker on, both sides flash, and when I hit bumps or slam a door it fixes it temporarily or makes them work slightly better. My headlight dims and brightens aswell when hitting bumps or slamming a door. The turn signals work fine when the headlights are not on.
  15. So Idk if this is in the right forum if not please move! Well I just bought a 2003 silverado with 216000 Km with a new tranny. I absolutely love it! Although I live in canada so the winters can be rough, It's a manual floor shift and my 4 low works fine but if I try to go into 4hi any time ( moving, stopped, in neutral ) nothin works, no 4x4 light or a sound like it's even trying to shift and it is pretty annoying having to go to neutral to use 4 low to get up a slight icy hill just to switch back to 2.
  16. Hello I am a 20 year old that has put more money then I should in my truck but its mine so I want to do something that has been done before but isn't something everyone has. I was to take out my stock 4.8L motor and 4L60E tranny and drop a moded 6.0L with a 4L80E. I am a college student so I am seeking for mods and also some of the things I will have to take into consideration. I don't have to much money to do this (like I said I'm in college) so some cost saving mods and ways to this this will be great as well. I also wonder how the rear axel will be holding up if I do this and if I will need to change the gears. This truck is special to me for the fact I bought it off my moms soon to be husband before he passed away a year ago. just trying to build something unique and that he'd be proud of.
  17. I have a 2001 silverado with the 5.3. It has about 153,000 miles and I have been having an issue that I haven't been able to track down. At idle it has a miss at idle, whether it is cold or warm. My knowledge says it is a vacuum leak somewhere that I cant find. There is no miss at any other rpm than idle. Recently as it has been getting colder (sub-30 degrees F) when I first start the pickup it shakes violently at idle, but after it warms up for about 30 seconds it runs as normal. Today when I started it and was warming it up my SES light started blinking, even though it was idling as normal. I shut the truck off because I knew that meant a multiple misfire code. I tried to start the pickup and it would not start. I plugged in my code reader, and I found the code P0300, or multiple misfire. I cleared the code and it started up and ran just as normal, with no issues. I drove it around 30 miles, shutting off an turning it back on numerous times to try and duplicate the issue but the code never came back. I have checked the intake gasket, which seems to be very intact. Where should I look next? Thanks for the help in advance.
  18. Just trying to figure out what kind of bumper this is it looks Good! Almost looks like the iron cross low profile one but I don't think it is.
  19. I have a 2014 chevy 1500 and put a HID kit in it and when I put it in drive and the day time running lights come on sounds like my relay is gonna blow up it makes a buzzing sound how do I fix this need help plz

  21. Hey i just picked up some 33x12.5R20s Haida Mud Champs for my 2014 gmc sierra all terrain. So I ordered a 2.5" RC leveling kits and ordered a 3" block with it too just in case it goes front end high. I would like to run mudflaps and save my paint. ✌ Hopefully someone has some pictures of some on a truck to get me going.
  22. Buildings going down, People screaming. the footage is just horrible I was just lucky my house resisted the tremor, and that none of family members were harmed, but thats not the case for thousands of people who tonight will sleep on a shelter, with nothing. Another Big earthquake just hit us, here in Mexico. I'm sharing this video to create awareness, and to implore that anyone who can, please support disaster relief efforts and donate, or at least share this video so it reaches anyone who can. We will greatly appreciate it.
  23. I'm trying to find a set of center caps like these (the kind stick out): http://www.ebay.com/itm/4pcs-Chrome-GMC-Sierra-Yukon-Savana-6-Lugs-1500-Center-Caps-16-17-Wheels-/322438850011?fits=Year%3A2002%7CMake%3AGMC%7CModel%3ASierra+1500&hash=item4b12da65db:g:IvUAAOSwax5Yo3ew&vxp=mtr That will fit my 2002 GMC sierra 1500 with the original chrome wheels, (which come with the flat type center caps) Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.
  24. Can someone give me an idea what's wrong with my truck? I just put a remanned 350 vortec bored 30 over, with an RV cam. I've replaced just about everything you could think of. First issue that started was it was popping codes for timing advanced 25 degrees. Had to take it to a shop to habe it timed with a computer. Now the EGR valve code is coming up all with 3 oxygen sensors showing insufficient activity. Mind you, my truck is straight piped with true duals coming out the passenger side by the tire. I just had it done. So what is happening now, is when I push the gas, my truck barely wants to go. I have to ease into it. Parts store said it was the EGR valve, replaced it, still doing it. Seeing if anyone out there knows what I need to do next. Replace the oxygen sensors? Will that fix it? I also replaced the oil pressure control sensor on the back of the motor by the rear intake? It was fried before I out the engine in again. I also have 0 oil pressure on my gauges now but I have oil. The truck drivee fine other than when I hit the gas pedal it barely wants to go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
