1. I have done a lot of research in preparation for this mod, and there are not any how to guides on this so I figured I would make one! First things first is the parts list. Below is what is required for this mod. Window (includes regulator): 84819603 GM list is $735. I found mine new on Facebook Marketplace for $150 so do some shopping around or they can be found used on car-part.com for much less but make sure it includes the regulator. Motor and mount assembly (they are sold together): 23490454 GM List is $89.13. Perhaps can be found used cheaper but not a bad price from GM. I got mine from Ebay. Overhead Console with switch: I recommend finding this used because often junkyards leave the harness intact which you will need. I got mine on Ebay. Side benefit the Homelink is plug and play so if your truck didn't come with it like mine you now have it. Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding (Main longer piece): 22817432 Right Rear Window Garnish Molding: 22817430 *These are not required if you are handy with a Dremel Next is the harness and fuse tap I used. This is an aftermarket harness that I modified to extend the length I needed. Universal Power Window Harness: https://amzn.to/3Kz1qyK Micro Fuse Tap: https://amzn.to/47ls08b Once you have gathered your parts contact a local shop to install your window. Next you will need to figure out your trim. There are 2 ways to do this. You can buy the trim from GM or just trim a little off your factory ones. This is the route I took. Just line it up where is should fit, put some painters tape on mark it and with a carful hand just trim it and it looks just like stock. Next you’ll need to mount your motor and regulator assembly. Below are some pics I found online of a factory truck. Once that is all mounted up its time for wiring. Using the Universal Harness and factory switch is fairly easy. Here is a diagram. The GM switch is pinned out just like the aftermarket harness I linked. The factory switch and pigtail should come with the overhead panel just cut off the connector and splice it in. I routed the grounds together and self-tapped them into the truck by the fuse box. The power is ran to the fuse box (with an inline fuse) and tapped into key on power. Depending on your truck you may or may not have some of the options used to tap into. Below is a link to a great website you can poke around and figure out what fuse works best for your truck. https://www.startmycar.com/us/chevrolet/silverado-1500/info/fusebox Finally run 2 wires back to the motor. I ran mine through the headline and down the passenger rear trim. Once everything is connected you should have a working power rear window!
2. I bought a 2015 Suburban LT with an inoperable Automatic lift gate. When I try to release with a fob, the lights blink. When I try to release from the cab, nothing happens. I know how to set the liftgate to manual before you ask. I found there is no ultra micro relay at position 16 in the rear fusebox. I had a relay that fits, but I realized there seem to be no female pins to receive the relay. Nothing "grabs it" when I put the relay in and it seems to want to fall out. Upon closer look, I cannot see any metal (only plastic) inside the relay receptacle at position 16. Does anyone have a liftgate wiring diagram for a 2015-2019 Suburban LT? How hard is it to pull the rear fusebox? It looks like I have to remove the entire rear driverside luggage side panel. Is the manual correct? Is position 16 ultra micro relay for liftgate? All thoughts and help appreciated.
3. Hey, I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 L. A few weeks ago I slammed on my horn too hard and the horn wouldn't stop until I took the fuse out. If I put the fuse back in, the horn blows continuously so I have taken the fuse back out but now I can't use the horn. I would like to try and fix the issue myself instead of bringing it into a dealership but can't find any videos or tutorials on how to fix the horn button switch which I think is the issue. If anyone has any feedback, please I'd appreciate something because I am not having much luck on my end. Thanks,
4. Has anyone had a rear compressor issue with a new Yukon XL Denali? My wife and I bought the vehicle at the beginning of October 2018 and within a month the rear compressor began running excessively. We took it into the dealership with bought it from and the service rep heard the noise but was unable to reproduce it later in the day with the technician so they sent us away with the vehicle. The noise became more and more regular so we took it to a dealership near our house and they heard it and acknowledged the problem, this lead them to replacing the rear compressor. The change of the rear compressor didn't do the trick and the excessive running persisted, this is where the frustration really set in. The service technicians were going to run diagnostics and service the vehicle after we brought it in MLK Day. The service department manager interrupted the process and essentially tried to bully my wife into accepting the fact that this is normal behavior for a GMC Denali line vehicle. She left the dealership in tears. I called the service manager in disagreement with 1) his treatment of my wife and 2) disputing the fact this is normal. His response was the discharge the video with a bogus report emphasize the vehicle was in intended working condition. Now the Denali is sitting at another dealership while they try to replicate the issue. It occurs 30-40% of the trips we take in the vehicle and the rear compressor will run anywhere from a few seconds to 20 minutes. Has anyone else had this issue and found a resolution? I'm to the point I'm almost willing to just sell the vehicle back for a loss to be rid of it.
5. Hey y’all! I sold my first gen tundra to move to a crew cab Silverado. I know to stay away from the 2017 models. I’ve settled on a 2018 LTZ, what are the thoughts on the 8 speed? I won’t do much towing with it. Maybe a 5000 pound boat occasionally. 80% city driving and am planning to throw a lift and some 35’s on it. I’ve heard very mixed things so curious you guys thoughts. Thanks so much!

7. So I just got a 2018 Silverado 2500 and am wondering if anyone has experienced this in there’s. when I turn my truck off and then open and shut the door to make the radio turn off I can still hear what I can only assume to be the fan in the radio stay on. If I lock the truck it turns the fan off for a second and then it comes back on. If I push the power button on the radio it shuts off but again comes on. Anyone have any thoughts or does this happen in anyone else’s 2014-2019? It didn’t happen in my 2016 that had the same infotainment center that is the reason for my concern.
8. Just a heads up the 2021 map update is missing important changes massachusetts has made to their highway exit numbers. Mass decided to change them, that's why I updated at the cost of $99. Just to find out GMC did not include them. When I contacted them I was told the changes will be in next years update.
9. This past Friday morning went and started my truck to get warm came back about 5-10 minutes later with the truck off lights still on and it’s throwing engine reduced power and p0641 code. Truck won’t turn over at all. Any ideas or tips? Thank you in advance
10. Hello all! Glad I found a place with some knowledgeable folks so I can ask my modification questions. As of a few days ago I am a proud owner of a 2018 Z71 All Star Edition Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. I absolutely love this truck but what truck would be complete without a couple of modifications!? I'm running into a situation that hopefully someone else has run into and solved. I want to add a storage unit under the rear seats; however, I also want to add the 10 inch kicker sub woofer that comes from Chevy to give my stereo a little fuller sound. The only place that 10 inch speaker seems to be able to go is under the passenger side rear seat. I have yet to see an under seat storage unit that is basically only half the size so the speaker can fit too, Has anyone done this and if so what storage unit did you get that allowed for both the speaker being mounted and storage bin placement? I do the apartment thing so I don't have the resources or space to fabricate my own as I have seen some on youtube do. Any guidance would be great! Thanks,
11. Hey guys so I did a 2019 Frontend Conversion to my 2015 Denali, with the Ram-Air style hood..... But trying to find a wire harness that converts from 2015 to the new lights, well that's easier said then done. So I was given this site by a friend that did this conversion to his truck.... I highly recommend this site, as they use GM plugs & the wires are all as good or better than stock..... Nothing wrong with that in my book. Check them out, they have E-mail if u have any questions & in my experience they get back to u in like an hour or less...... These harness are truly "Plug & Play". No cutting any wires, no guess work, all that is done for u.... They have the schematics for all the years & work off of them to make sure everything is correct.... Plus they check everyone before shipment..... Pic of my Denali, before & after. Their website also include. https://www.gen5diy.com/collections/14-18-sierra-p-p-harnesses
12. Good morning everyone, I recently purchased a 2018 GMC Sierra Crew Cab SLT All-Terrain package. I'm personally wanting to install a leveling kit and I believe I've selected one. I've read a lot about leveling kits for 2017-18 trucks and this seems like a great kit. However, there isn't many reviews on this product by ReadyLift. The appeal of this lift is the UCA replacements and the <2" height it allows. I'm wanting to go with 305/55/20 or 285/60/20 tires with my stock AT wheels and I want as much clearance possible. I found maybe 2-3 members on here with this lift and I'll quote them below. My question is, will this work with my All-Terrain package? In the description of the kit it states, "Will not work on Z71 packaged vehicles with factory Rancho® struts." Yet on ReadyLift's website, there is nothing supporting that statement. Does anyone have any information or review for this kit? Thanks!
13. New to this forum , but just wondering if 2019-2021 snowflake 22 wheels will fit a 2018 silverado.
14. Looking to buy a LTZ grill (Picture Shown Below) been looking through eBay and no luck. Got a 16 Silverado and getting tired of the black plastic.
15. Coming home from a four-hour trip Sunday towing a small utility trailer, my truck dropped to idle while at speed on the interstate just a few miles from home. I was lucky and able to pull over to an exit ramp with zero power. While coasting the display popped up saying reduced power for a couple of seconds and the engine light came on. While still on the exit, all power restored, message went away, and I was able to make it home on back roads. While it was still running I pulled three codes: P0087, P129F and P228B. Cut it off, unloaded everything and then went to move the trailer. It turned over for a few seconds then busted off (longer than normal). As soon as I put it in gear it shut off. Got it to the dealership and awaiting the results. Truck only has 1,404 miles on it and was delivered from Flint a few weeks ago. All displays read fine, fuel filter, DEF fluid, etc. Engine light still on. Just FYI to add to the list of L5P problems
16. All parts came off 2017 Silverado LTZ 4x4 with 15K miles. Located in Los Angeles. Would prefer local pick-up but will ship if buyer pays for shipping. Front strut assembly with 2.5 in Motofab leveling kit installed (Pair) - $150 obo - SOLD OE Rear Shocks (Pair) - $50 obo OE Front Knuckles (Pair) - $50 obo
17. Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 10/30/18 Day one of SEMA 2018 is almost already in the books and we've barely made it through the South Hall (which houses the Truck/Off-Road section) trying to get our eyes on every customized 2019 being shown inside exibitor's booths. There's no way we'll see everything but what we have seen already is impressive. Accessories for the all new Sierra and Silverado are coming out in force, even if the trucks are still trickling into dealerships. Although the new fullsize pickups are GM's hot new thing, the automaker has not made it a focus of this year's show. That means, while we're seeing a ton of 2019 Silverado and Sierra, there are 2x as many 2019 Dodge Ram and 5x as many Jeep Wranglers. Here's what we've seen so far. We'll add more photos to this thread as we take them.
18. Greetings. New guy here, so please freely call me out an any forum missteps. I started out with a base model 2018 GMC Sierra 4wd, regular cab, standard bed. It has a snow plow package and 3.42 gears. Onyx Black. No frills. I'll try and remember the order in which I did everything. All work do date has been done in my driveway, which I'm reasonably proud of because I work a job where I mostly send emails and sit in meetings. -- Debadging happened the first day of ownership... just my thing, costs nothing. -- Blacked out my front badge with with plasti dip -- Removed the air dam -- Cover King carpeted dash mat added, in the color of 'wine'. -- Cover King saddle blanket seat covers added in wine/whiteish.... returned after about a month because they were coming apart at the seams in a quite literal sense. Back to my grey cloth seats. -- Added a Rough Country 2 inch level (those cheap spacer things that are shaped like 'C' -- Brow tint on the windshield and multiple layers of Collinite way done by Motoring Images in Lee NH (ok, this wasn't in my driveway) -- Airaid modular intake and filter added. Sounds great, I'm a fan. -- Borla ATAK cat back system with polished tips. Sounds wonderful. -- Diablo Intune3 handheld tuner, custom (non dyno, remote) tuned further for 91+ and some extra oomph by Lew. -- Mudflaps installed and ultimately removed because they were the no drill kind and drilling would have helped from losing one in a carwash or who knows where, so those are gone.
19. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 9-11-2019 General Motors has announced that NHTSA is mandating a safety recall for the following vehicles: 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Pickups (1500 / 2500 / 3500) 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade NHTSA reports that the amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time. The group says that as the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, and that this increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. This new recall covers 3.4 million vehicles. The Problem: The brake pump uses engine oil to lubricate itself. If the pump becomes clogged with engine oil sludge the units ability to create vaccum is diminished over time. As a result, braking force and ability also drops. The issue is usually accompanied by a "Service Brake Assist" warning message in the dash. The Fix: GM will reprogram the computer that controls the secondary brake assist pump. The secondary pump will now activate at lower speeds and different situations quicker to compensate for any lost output from the main pump. Since the pumps are not failing, GM has decided not to replace them. GM's number for this recall is N192268490. In compliance with federal law, GM will notify owners, typically by snail mail. GM says that its dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module. However, GM has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. If you own one of these vehicles and wish to check to see if your vehicle is included (or not) you can do so at this link immediately. As with every safety recall, customers will not be charged by GM for the needed repairs or modifications. NHTSA's public information on this issue indicates that many accidents have been reported to NHTSA including some with injuries. This recall is the result of a NHTSA investigation that lasted nearly a year. In its investigation report, NHTSA noted the following details about the problem:
20. Hello, I have a 2018 Silverado, around 11000 miles on it. Driving the other day, lost power around 35 mph, pulled into a parking lot, re started the truck and checked to make sure I was in 2wd etc. Began driving again, toward home due to something being wrong and same issue occurred including check engine light. Had vehicle towed Friday night when it happened, at dealer now which isn't open until tomorrow. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
21. Had my truck worked on at a body shop(dent fix and new windshield) then straight to a proper detailing. I assume one of the two disconnected my batteries (L5P Durramax). Now, the buttons and controls on the steering wheel do not respond. Confirmed with both shops, nothing was disconnected from the steering column. Everything else, horn, dash, lights, radio, etc. All function correctly. Only the stero paddles, and menu nav buttons do not work. Scanned all the modules for codes and received back 2 codes in the Instrument Panel Cluster. DTC 1: B3622-39 Steering Wheel Controls Signal Circuit - Internal Malfunction - (No ****** Sherlock) DTC 2 : U1510-00 LIN Bus Lost Communication with Device 0 - (Ah yes, Device 0, obviously). I am not sold on the clock spring still as I don't have any SRS module codes. Repair manual says those codes together is a short to ground. Cheryl on-top was this YouTube video, Anyone have enough knowledge to help me figure if it's a bad module or a cut wire?
22. I understand this topic has been around for some time, but I recently purchased a 2019 Silverado LD (same body style as the 2014-2018 models). When I look for aftermarket mods/information, I have been referencing the 2018 model year. In particular, my Silverado is a 2019 LD LT Z71, Double Cab, Midnight Edition w/ the All Star package (a lot to digest there!). The mods I have done in no particular order of completion are: 2" Zone Leveling Kit Rough Country rubber bed mat Driver & passenger window tint (35%) Upgraded to LED bulbs in cargo, reverse and license plate lights Replaced stock antenna w/ 3" stubby Added 4 Bully hooks to bed sidewalls Tinted license plate covers (not too dark as you WILL be pulled over) GM tri-fold tonneau cover (manufactured by Advantage Truck Accessories for GM (GM Part #19367127). Appears to be very similar to the Extang Trifecta 2.0. BackRack #15024 w/ tonneau kit part #50120 (fits perfectly w/ that tonneau cover, but you won't find it listed on BackRack's site) Rear seat GM floor liner Front seat GM all weather floor mats Amooca no-drill mud flaps N-Fab cab length side step bars textured black Apeman mini dash cam Range Technology AFM disabler K&N 33-2129 Performance Air Filter (AIRAID Modular Intake Tube to follow...) and the best for last, stainless steel, Magnaflow MF Series Black cat-back - dual split rear exit exhaust, 4" black coated tips (these pipes were made for the 5.3 - such a perfect growl!!) Future mods would include 33" Nitto Ridge Grapplers or DuraTracs & a little more lift.
23. Item: 2016+ GMC Sierra Grille (Black) Condition: Brand New OEM Location: St. Louis, MO Description: Professionally painted GMC Sierra Grille that is a brand new take-off from an Elevation trim Sierra. It's factory matched to the Onyx Black paint code. I decided to go with a different grille and have this in the factory box. Price: $750 OBO (shipping to continental US included) See attached pictures.
24. Do the 2019 GM Step Assists fit the 2014-2018 model years? Trying to figure out if the 2019 Sport Steps will fit my 2016 Silverado. Thanks.
25. I'm trying to figure out what the max tire size is I can put on stock 20s in the 33" range. I'm looking at KO2s right now which I know BFGs run a little small. What is the max I can run if I level with a 2.0" level or if I run stock suspension? I have a 2018 Sierra Crew Cab NHT with stock 20" wheels. I tried doing some searching and I think I can fit a 33 no problem but then I see other posts that just confuse me on the matter.
