  1. Hi All, Hopefully I placed this in the correct sub-forum... I am due to replace my tires on my 2019 Sierra 1500 Denali with the stock 22" wheels. This means the tire size is 275/50/R22 which really limits tire availability. I have considered goin with a 285/45/R22 as that opens up more options. It is 2.1% shorter so hoping it's not going to be an issue with the speedo and mileage staying pretty close to accurate? Thoughts on that tire size? Thoughts? Concerns? How much is this really affecting my annual mileage if we say 10k miles per year? I suspect warranty company is fine with it as my mileage will add up a little faster... Any other tire sizes you guys recommend that open up options that wont require any recalibration to speedo? In any case, I live in MN and we have a lot of snowy road days and we ice fish, etc. Using the stock tires on the lake this year was.... well... not good. I got stuck. I would like something that will perform better on snow but also not be real noisy. I have a Denali truck with no real mods because I have finally reached an age where all I want to hear in my truck is my music and nothing else lol. So road noise is a huge factor. I had a Trail Boss as a loaner for the weekend and the aggressive tire profile on those were AWFUL. But the standard all-season tire on a truck that is the same for a car just isn't it. Is there a good all-terrain tire than is quite? Does that even exist? Looking for any input and experience any of you have on the matter. Also considering the Continental Terrain Contact A/T as well. Reviews seem to indicate they are very quiet on road as well. These are also a 285/45/R22 (smaller diamter/circumfrence). can changing from a 50 to a 45 series tire affect road noise and comfort a lot? I had 24s on an Escalade running 30 or 35 series tires and they didn't seem to sacrifice comfort, but its been a while.
  2. Anyone else mounted BFGoodrich KO2's on their Silverado? We just had these delivered yesterday. 50% of our dual rubber strategy. KO2's for winter/off-road and something else on our Chevrolet Performance 22's for the summer and highway. We stayed with the stock sizing the 20's. 275/60/R20 We LOVED the KO2's on our 2011 Sierra. It made the truck look so mean. I'll post after photos in a few weeks when we get them mounted!
  3. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 10-26-2018 BFGoodrich (BFG) launched its new KM3 this summer. The KM3 is the company's newest mud-terrain tire and features improvements over the prior generation tire from BFG. GM-Trucks.com had a chance to try out the new tire on a Land Rover-designed off-road course on the grounds of the amazing Monticello Motor Club in the woods of New York this week. BFG brought along a modified new 2019 Jeep Wrangler to showcase its new tire. To get a feel for the difference the KM3 tires can make, we were first given a familiarization lap of the course in another 2019 Wrangler with KO2 all-terrain tires. Frankly, these Jeeps are so capable off-road we didn't think we'd feel any difference, but we did. The KM3's don't slip as much in deep mud and muck. On part of the course, an overflowing pond had created a section with water running across the track. That section has a pretty steep angle as well. In the control Jeep, we could feel a bit of side to side sliding motion. However, in the Jeep wearing the KM3 tires we continued straight across. BFG says the new tread design provides 5% better mud traction and 8% added rock traction. The mud-traction is credited to its mud-phobic shoulder bars (see red arrow). More impressive is the estimated 27% tougher sidewall. BFG adapted its thicker CoreGard Max sidewall from its race-winning Baja desert racer design. The new BFGoodrich KM3 is available in 54 sizes, including 33 additional sizes from the previous generation, for 88 percent coverage of the market. There are also UTV sizes. We asked Phil Watson, Director of Consumer Public Relations BFGoodrich Tires / Michelin North America, to tell us who the KM3 is really targeting and what it offers over a standard equipment all-terrain tire on a vehicle like a Colorado ZR2 or Bison. He said, "The BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 is essential equipment for hardcore off-road enthusiasts. One of the most valuable equipment upgrades off-road drivers can make is tires. We designed the KM3 for more sidewall toughness and traction in mud and on rocks and proved its capabilities by winning some classes of the Baja 1000 on it." Story Note: GM-Trucks.com and its personnel received no compensation for the placement of this story. We traveled to our annual International Motor Press Association event at our own expense and paid a nominal fee to attend. Our thanks to Monticello Motor Club for the use of its facilities.
  4. The affected models include BFGoodrich's line of Commercial T/A All-Season, Commercial T/A All-Season 2, and Rugged Terrain T/A tires. The company is letting consumers know that the bead area of the tire may experience a rapid failure, resulting in complete loss of tire pressure. As you could imagine, losing all of your tire's air-pressure without warning usually results in a crash. Consumers who are using these recalled tires are asked to return to the shop where they were installed to receive absolutely free replacements.
