  1. Long story short, I think I need to buy springs but don't know which ones to select. RockAuto has 27 different "GM Genuine" coil springs for a 2017 GMC Sierra with 6.2L engine. I am wanting to match the spring rate of a 2017 GMC Sierra SLT CrewCab 4x4 6.2L. If someone has this exact truck, maybe they could post their RPO codes please? Or maybe, hopefully, someone has a better idea to get this info? The long story (if you care to read on) is I have the 2017 GMC Sierra Denali CrewCab 4x4 6.2L with MagneRide shocks & struts. The truck has just under 60K miles and the ride quality has degraded over time. I know at least 1 shock is bad due to it leaking, no codes have been thrown on the dash. Due to the mileage and the expense of the MagneRide shocks, I am pursuing replacing them all with conventional shocks and at the same time, getting my truck level. Several options on the market claiming great ride quality but I'm leaning towards the Bilstein 5100's that I've had on past trucks or the Eibach ProTruck kit E80-23-006-02-22 for $704 that sound great too but I'll need to buy strut mounts and deal with compressing those beasts (others have had issues). Or possibly the RoughCountry E2 loaded struts #501029 - inexpensive but not sure on ride quality + reliability or maybe even Fox 2.0's if I can find them for a good price. I would even consider the Belltech coilovers #15102 for $650 /pair if I could find someone running them with a positive review. If/since my MagneRide coil springs aren't the same/compatible, with some kits including the Bilsteins, I'll need to buy new springs, which isn't a huge deal since they aren't too expensive - some as low as $34. I know Eibach's kit comes with springs included but it appears they have a higher spring rate for trucks with extra weight on the front of their trucks. Of course, I'll need to deal with the MRC electronics, cheapest I've found is https://www.magdelete.com/collections/sierra-1500 and I may end up just getting the entire kit from him but don't know which springs are used with his either... It does make some sense that there are so many different GM Genuine coil springs due to there being 3 different engines available, 3 different cab sizes and 4 different trims... I do zero off-roading or towing and am just looking for a nice street ride with a leveled look. I welcome input on anything I've said but I'm mainly looking for the proper conventional OEM spring that will match best with my truck.
  2. Selling a new in box Superlift 6.5” lift kit that fits the 2014-2018 Silverado. Includes the upgraded Bilstein 5100 shocks. It comes in five separate boxes. Asking $1000, OBO. Located in Northwest Ohio, will meet in a reasonable distance.
  3. Hope you guys are doing well! Found a lovely deal for a chevy 2016 - LT Z71 - V5.3 This is my first truck and looking to lift it. found a good price for Rough Country lift kit - 3.5 inch BILSTEIN 5100: https://psp.ae/product/bilstein-performance-shocks-15/ Rough Country KIT: https://www.roughcountry.com/gm-suspension-lift-kit-275-8.html Many people been complaining about how cheap the rough country shocks are, so I was thinking is it possible to install Bilstein 5100 shocks kit on this kit? or would they not fit into these? This way I would lift the truck + level it + have some what better shocks I thought about selling the Rough Country shocks instead Your thought and experience are much appreciated!
  4. Ok, thought I would post after having the Bilstein 6112 front suspension kit placed on my 2021 1500 AT4 today. I've ordered the 5100's for the back, however they won't be in until next week. So, my goal was to get rid of the dang bounce in the truck. The ride wasn't bad, but I thought I would try the 6112's. Immediately I could tell that the truck definitely sits close to level, which I'm ok with a slight rake and I mean slight. I purposely hit a few bumps and the trucks feels more planted or stiffer. It still has a slight bounce, however you can tell the difference and I'm very satisfied. I can't wait until I get the rear Bilstein's installed, as that is where I feel it is most needed. If you are on the fence about the 6112's, get them fast. They were on backorder, so I jumped on them when they were in stock. I'll have to take pics later. Model# is BSN-47-309524
  5. I get it, I'm an idiot who should search the forum. As much as I accept this, I have searched the forum and I completely suck at it because I can't find what I'm looking for. Initially, all I wanted to do was just level my truck. However, after purchasing a leveling kit that gets placed on the bottom of the strut, I read a ton of reviews saying they suck because they put stress on the control arms, so I returned the kit. Since I like the look of the AT4, I figured I'd look at 2-3" suspension lift kits and discovered there are some that aren't that expensive, so now I'm pretty set on going this route. My question is-- do these lift kits also level the truck, and if not, will doing so put the same stress on the control arms as leveling it with the stock suspension? Clearly, my idiocy stretches far beyond searching ****** on this forum... I was planning to go with Bilstein shocks anyway and found this kit online. Does anyone know if this will also level my truck? I was also looking at this 3" Superlift that comes with Bilsteins, it's more expensive, but if it does more of what I'm looking for, I'm down. Call me an idiot, I'm married, so I'm used to it. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers!
  6. So, I am pulling the trigger on rear shocks first since that is where I need better ride quality. I don't know which set of shocks to go with, the 5100 or pro truck sport shocks. I have read about both and I am just torn. What sets one above the other? And where is the best place to buy from?
  7. On my 2015 Silverado Crew Cab 2WD, I currently have the RC 2.5 inch spacer leveling kit with all stock shocks. I am wanting to replace all 4 shocks with Bilstein 5100s. Does anyone have experience combining these shocks with the spacers from RC? I would also like a little more ground clearance. Nothing too crazy, just a little more aggressive look than the stock 2WD height with a leveling kit. Trying to decide if I take the spacers out and go with the RC 3.5 inch suspension lift with upper control arms, remove the spacers and go with Bilstein 5100 on the highest setting all around, or simply replace all shocks with 5100 and keep the spacers up front. Just trying to figure out what will get me the look I want and also be the most mechanically sound so I don't cause any weird issues with ball joints, etc. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!
  8. I have a 2014 Sierra 1500. I am due for new tires so I am going to go a size bigger and keep the stock rims (265/65r18 to 275/65/r18). Before I do this, I plan on changing out all of the shocks and installing the bilstein 5100's. I figured this was the best option for ride quality, while still being able to add a little extra height to the truck without putting too much stress on any other parts. My question is, has anyone set the front shocks to the height setting (is there any downside to this?) and then the rear to the highest setting (1"). If so, can does this still create enough rake to give the truck a leveled look when pulling a trailer? I dont like the nose high look. Looking for any recommendations on what i should set the shocks to in order to achieve more height on the truck, but be able to tow without the nose being higher than the back. Include pictures if you have them! I am also assuming i should get an alignment after installing the shocks and new tires right? Thanks, Ted
  9. Looking for recommendations based ofrom personal experience I’m considering getting Fox coil over 2.0 or 2.5 also Rancho quick lift. I currently have bilstein 5100 shock all around with stock springs and struts and I’m not quite satisfied with the ride quality over pot holes and bumps in the road are quite noticeable. I’m looking the best possible ride on my 2014 Silverado LT even considering new tires currently running 265/65/18 please help out this is my everyday driver mainly on freeway but will take on dirt roads every so often
  10. Hey guys I know there are threads out there for it but I have looked and can't seem to narrow it down. I currently have a 2016 GMC Sierra All Terrain leveled 2.5". I am looking at upgrading to a Zone 4.5" and running bigger tires on my stock 20" All Terrain wheels. The question I have though is about the shocks. I want to upgrade my shocks right now, looking at the bilsteins. But my question is if I bought the bilstein (5100's) would I be able to run those on the 2.5" level and the 4.5" lift? I appreciate any help and information! Pictures or experience with either setup or future setup is helpful as well!
  11. I have a 2017 Four Wheel Drive Sierra with the Max Trailering Package and the 6.2L engine. I tow a 34' Airstream travel trailer (9,000 pounds loaded and about 1,000 pound tongue weight) and I get a good deal of porpoising on some washboard type roads. I have a Hensley Arrow Equalizer hitch with 1,000 pound spring bars. Also, I consider the truck under damped even when I'm not towing. I'm considering upgrading to the Bilstein 4600 series shocks F & R. Does anyone have a similar experience with this situation or the Bilstein 4600 shocks. I installed these shocks on my 1992 Suburban many years ago and I was very happy with the results.
  12. I know the 6112s are semi-new to the community. My question is what would be the lowest possible notch I can install these and still have enough clearance to fit 275X 65R 20 KO2s. I’d imagine the notch settings are similar to the 5100s accept there is 1 extra notch I believe. I have been searching online for the past week and cannot find anyone that confirms the lowest possible setting to fit these tires. I know I can install them at the highest setting and fit just fine, But I am trying to keep rake in the rear due to occasional towing and i do not want to add a leveling block to the rears. I was thinking the third notch (1.25” of lift) would work but I’m not sure if It will get rubbing. Does anyone have any idea on this? I currently have a 2.5 inch leveling spacer but do not want to install it when I switch to the Bilstein 6112s. Thanks!
  13. 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Double Cab LT Z71 Current Upgrades: - Tinted front windows 20% - Shorty radio antenna - Bilstein leveling shocks - Nitto Ridge Grappler 275/70r18 on stock wheels (No rubbing/scrubbing/trimming) Picture before Bilstein leveling shocks and Nitto Ridge Grappler's were installed: Pictures after Bilstein leveling shocks and Nitto Ridge Grappler's were installed:
  14. New Member here, After extensive hours on this site, I've decided on my plan of attack for level/wheel/tires. Bilstein 5100's arrived yesterday. Just need to figure out who should install them. For our Michigan members, who do you trust? Mumbly's is literally the only off-road specific installer I can find in the metro detroit area. (I'm a little weary of dealerships. Usually do everything myself). But, they are completely booked for over a month and want $380 for install and alignment. Naturally I'm impatient to get this thing looking like a real truck. Plan of attack: Bilstein 5100 on the 1.25" (3rd) setting 275/60-20 Tires on Black Rhino 0 offset wheels. Looks like this should be a good set up for the amount of slow trail running, UP camping/exploring I will be doing. Usually have some dirt bikes in the bed, but won't for a long while since I broke my neck last year. The new truck will be the toy this year (with age, get a cage right?) Thanks!
  15. Bilstein 5100 set at 0 or factory setting. with rough country 3 inch spacer. Has anyone done this? Any input is welcome. Pros and cons. I have 5100 already installed. Rc 3 was a gift. Tire setup 275/60/20. Slight rubbing at half turn.
  16. Rancho RS9000XL vs Bilstein 5100 I am at 72k and preparing/saving up for shock replacement on all four corners. I like the that the Rancho RS9000XL can be adjusted (claimed 400% difference between lowest and highest setting). I always hear good things about the Bilstein 5100s though. Any experience with the Rancho RS9000XL shocks? (Front): Ranch RS9000XL: http://www.gorancho.com/products/shock-absorbers/rs9000xl-performance-strut/rancho-rs9000xl-strut-rs999830.html (Rear) Rancho RS9000XL: http://www.gorancho.com/products/shock-absorbers/rs9000xl-shock-absorber/rancho-rs9000xl-shock-absorber-rs999198.html Total for four: ~$527 (Front) Bilstein 5100: https://www.bilstein.com/us/en/product-search-detail/?ItemId=6188925713238092455&YearId=4357058600109566749&MakeId=4463563413472551677&ModelId=1723229799825481433&SubModelId=5482975663341996073 (Rear) Bilstein 5100: https://www.bilstein.com/us/en/product-search-detail/?ItemId=7911004732752982112&YearId=4357058600109566749&MakeId=4463563413472551677&ModelId=1723229799825481433&SubModelId=5482975663341996073 Total for four: ~$345
  17. Has anyone use the OTC 6494 Clamshell style spring compressor to take apart the coil overs in the front? I have read a ton that the chinsey auto parts stores style are not safe and I would agree. Ive used them on lighter duty Mcphereson's and they still scared the crap out of me. I am wondering if the OTC one is strong enough or someone can say yay or nay on it? Heres a link to what I am talking about.
  18. Anyone with a 2017/18 who went the Bilstein route and had the steering popping noise? Seems this is the preferred and safest option. I've kinda made my mind up to go with Bilsteins instead of spacers due to the fact that I've read numerous cases of steering issues with spacers. Just figured I'd feel the water before jumping in. Thanks!
  19. Hey guys, Going to be adding a 1/2” spacer to my Bilstein 5100 setupto get the little bit of extra height I’m looking for. Wanting to know some opinions on the following 3 half inch spacers. I ordered these top coil spacers because at first it’s all I could find. Shortly after, I found these 1/2” motofab lower mount spacers which I have heard are much better and will mostly likely be returning the upper mount spacers and getting these. BUT, before I order the motofabs, I also found these hiding on amazon. Seems like a pretty identical product to the motofab spacers. I have some credit on amazon so that’s really the only reason I would buy these over the motofab blocks. So, what’s the consensus guys?
