  1. Engine swapping a 2011 Gmc Sierra 1500 Crew cab 4wd engine into a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 1LT I need to know if this is possible, and what would be required to do so. Please tell me any information you know about this if possible or if not. I am trying to a put the 2011 gmc sierra 1500 engine into the 2006 chevy 2500 hd. I am trying to figure what needs to be done to do the switch, Is it possible to just drop it in and use a computer or do i need to retune something. I just need to know what needs to be done, tools needed, and if its even worthwhile. Vin numbers 2006 - 1GCHK23U66F166410 2011 - 3GTP2VE33BG225875
  2. I just recently purchased an 82 s15 gypsy edition roller and it was setup for a 327. I want to put a 1996 350 vortec or a 2003 5.3 in it and a t5. I’m having a hard time trying to find a t5 out of a 90s s10 but i can easily find t5s out of 90s mustangs. I was wondering what would it take to use a mustang trans in this truck. Any other tips and tricks are greatly appreciated as well.
  3. What’s parts will be needed that ive might have missed for the swap or has anybody done this type of swap? I will be getting a LS 427 1500 to 2000 hp deciding witch package to go with and it comes with full engine and transmission everything from wires efi kit, wires. The Whole works from motor to transmission I will just be adding headers, exhaust line , upgraded drive shaft, rear diff. The thing I’m stuck on is this so called swap in and out plug and play since am going from LT to LS 427 anybody have experience on what I might need for it to fitment issues ? New transmission crossmembers ? Motor mounts I just want to make sure there’s is nothing missing or I might be over looking prior purchasing. I understand if it was old to new but am here going from LT to LS on the truck project truck I must say. Anything helps those who have experience. Thank you
  4. Hey y'all, I know this has been talked about a bunch but I just for some reason can't find the info I'm after. I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500, with the 5.3 and 4l60e, its a non z71 but with the same gear ratio I believe. Now I have a couple questions. 1. I want to swap to a 6.0 (maybe with some mods like a small cam, headers, maybe an intake), the 5.3 in the truck has been rebuilt but was used as a work truck and is "tired" so to say. I know a lot of people have said that to make the simplest "plug-and-play" setup to grab a 6.0 from 04-06(07 classic?) and it will run on the stock 5.3 tune (but recommend getting it retuned) I know that you can use the stock 4l60e but put some money into it to make it be able to hold the power and torque of a 6.0. I also know that to swap to a 4l80e trans it would require a crossmember and wiring at least, along with a different driveshaft, and since its 4x4, possible a different transfer case? So answering my own question with confirmation from someone, I could use a 04-06(07 classic?) 6.0 and just do a slight build on the stock 4l60e (which is currently slipping hoping just torque converter)? So on to my next question, I want to swap a z71 axle under the truck rather than the stock open diff. Would it be easier to swap out just the diff or to swap the whole axle? Is there any wiring for the limited slip/locking diff in the z71 axle? And is there a difference in the front diff? Also the truck currently is on 33" tires, and I plan to go to 35"s so should I just wait and have the truck regeared with an aftermarket limited slip or locker? And one final question for the interior guys out there. I hate the 99-02 steering wheel. I wanna swap to a 03-06 steering wheel. I know that the airbag itself will fit if I grab it off a 03-04 HD truck because its single stage, but what about the splines on the steering shaft? are those the same as the 99-02 1500 trucks? Or do I still have to swap that out for a newer steering shaft? Also how bad is it to run heated leather seats in these trucks that didn't have them from factory? I'm doing a mini restobuild on the truck but still need it to be a daily driver. Thanks for any input guys!!!
  5. First off, hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. I will start with specs and how the truck is put together to make this easier to understand. My truck is a 97 Chevy C1500. It originally came with a 4.3 Fuel Injected Engine. However the guy that owned it before me swapped in a 87 block style crate 350/5.7. He switched it over to carbeurated. Put a mechanical pump on it. Now when he ran the lines, he left the old fuel pump unit inside the tank. He just disconnected the power to the electric fuel pump, and the mechanical fuel pump on the block pulls its fuel THROUGH the inactive electric pump. (according to what he told me, still need to pull the tank and verify this, but wanted to get information first) So there's the basics. The issue im having is that my fuel gauge does not work. It is currently pegged about an inch or two past full. Now, Ive been told varying things. One person tells me that the fuel sender works independent of the electric pump, and that all i need to do is replace the sender and hook up only the level wires and leave the power to the in tank pump disconnected. Another tells me that the electric pump HAS to be powered for the level sender to work, and there's now way to make it work with myy setup. That's not even including the fuel level buffer module or whatever that i just heard about today -_- My question is this. How does the sender work in detail, and what is my best option for diagnosing and fixing my fuel gauge? Is there a way to make the fuel gauge in the dash work with the current setup, or do i need to get a separate specialized gauge and install it? Any and all help is appreciated. If y'all have any questions please do ask and i will do my best to answer them in an effort to get this issue figured out. (Picture attached. Harness wires: Purple wire is level sender wire. Gray wire is the power to the pump. Black wire on its own is i think the ground for the pump, black wire going into plug is ground for sender, according to the wiring diagram i reviewed.)
  6. Hello, I will be doing an engine swap in my s-10 fairly soon. The specific truck I have is a 1992 s-10 ext. cab 2.5l 4-banger, with RWD and a 5 speed manual. What I am thinking for engine/ tranny is a Chevy 350 with a NV3500 transmission. It would be easier for me to find a 350 that already has a NV4500 married to it, but I have heard that it is difficult to fit a NV4500 in an s-10. I can't find any info for my exact model, so I'm asking if the combo of the 350/nv3500 will be a good fit. I won't be racing this truck, I just want more get-up and towing capacity. if you know of a better setup I am very open. also originally I was thinking of putting a 5.3 Vortec instead of the 5.7/350 but everyones been saying the 350 is easier.
  7. I have a 1997 GMC 1/2 ton 2 wh dr Sierra ext cab with a 5.7L engine, bad automatic transmission. Will that engine fit and work in a 1995 1 ton 4x4 with a bad 6.5 diesel engine, 5 speed transmission, 1 ton truck. Kind of in a hurry for the info. Trying not to lose this 95 truck if it works.
  8. Okay so I’m engine swapping my 4.3 v6 2003 Silverado to a 5.3 V8. I have purchased the engine and transmission and I’ve been putting it together in my free time. Recently I purchased what I thought was a stock Ls engine harness. Turns out I drove 1 hour and something minutes to find out he was selling me a “Stand Alone Harness.” Since I was there already I decided to buy it. Don’t ask me why just know it came at a impressive cheap price and it included a complete intake, fuel rails, k&n intake, fuse box & all that good stuff. Now my question is, what would change if i was to use the stand alone harness on my swap ? Would it even work ? I don’t have much knowledge on stand alone harnesses just that they are used in hot rods, c10s, obs, ect... Any help would be great!
  9. I am swapping the engine from a wrecked 98 Chevy Cheyenne to a 92 Chevy Silverado. Can I just swap the engines and will it just work? Are the wiring harnesses compatible? I have heard that there is an adapter that is required, but I don't know if this is accurate information.
