  1. I have a 2022 Sierra Denali. Had a new OnStar communication interface module installed by the dealer today. GPS and OnStar functions work. However, the “MyGMC app” now doesn’t update and I can’t control/start/lock my truck with the app. I’ve uninstalled/installed the app, reset the settings in my truck and called OnStar. They seem the be clueless at this point. Any ideas?
  2. Does anyone know how to add the digital key for the GMC Hummer EV? It says it should be in the app to select but I don't see it there. I followed the manual instructions as well but don't see the option for a digital key. If anyone knows or can help I would appreciate it.
  3. I have a 2018 Silverado. I replaced the battery last fall and each onstar diagnostic report afterwards warned that my battery was low. I took it to my Chevy dealer and they said the batter is fine. Is this a know issue?
  4. Hey there I have a 2015 1500 5.3L LTZ Silverado 4WD (midnight edition) Anyway I was doing highway miles and got a console alert that oil level was low. Stopped at the auto parts store, added one quart, saw level was still low.. so I added a second quart which filled it up. I climbed under the engine in the parking lot, and took a peek at the oil pan. I noticed the gasket was all mushroomed out and there was oil pretty much caked everywhere lower than that seal. I took it to the dealership to get it repaired and the service manager told me the strangest stories. He said 1) the lower oil pan is one time use 2) the lower oil pan gasket is RTV 3) the upper oil pan gasket was also leaking 4) the crimp in the oil cooler line was leaking (didn't realize my engine even had an oil cooler!? Why would a light duty truck have this equipped?) He quoted $2000 for everything including 10% sales tax. Does this raise the alarm for anyone else here? I only saw oil from the lower gasket downward. The parts on rock auto are about $70. I think I'll have to do this one myself but would love some thoughts. Thanks in advance.
  5. Recently I noticed my navigation not working in my 2016 Sierra Denali. The GPS has a red X over it. I have done some research and most people are saying the green onstar light on the rearview mirror turned red when they had an issue. Mine is still lit green but no GPS signal. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a fix?
  6. Hello, I've done quite a bit of searching on this topic and can't really seem to find a fix. Was wondering if anyone could help me out here as it's starting to get annoying. In my 2014 Chevy Silverado, my options to connect a new phone to bluetooth are greyed out. It doesn't let me click it at all. Another thing that is maybe just coincidence is my onstar seems to not be working either. There is a red light instead of a green one on my rear view mirror. Every now and then it'll go green for 2-3 seconds, and then turn to red. Not sure if this has anything to do with the bluetooth. The troubleshooting I have done is: Taken the radio out, cleaned the plugs, refitted them and reattached the radio; Nothing. Fooled with the wire behind my rear view mirror to see if it's a bad connection of some sort; Nothing. Tried to pair my phone through voice and any other work around; Nothing. Removed all previous devices, and still nothing. Im kind of at loss here, any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
  7. It’s been 3 month since I took delivery of my new 2019 Chevy Trail Boss and really hate that when I use the phone to call out the person on the other end can’t hear me. This is the same whether the Apple iPhone is connected to car play or via Bluetooth. Also same problem when I initially called on star to set up service. They couldn’t hear me. First thought it was cell phone reception but was not the case. First time the dealer replaced the mic over the drivers side but this didn’t fix the problem. Updated latest software updates and this too didn’t fix the problem. Took it back to Chevy dealer Monday they called today and said they can’t replicat the problem. So drove up from work in the loaner and replicated the problem. Same problem on iPhone or Android. Has as anyone else had this issue or has any tips to resolving the issue? thanks
  8. Hey all, I will start from the beginning here. Purchased my new 2017 Sierra Elevation Edition in February 2017. Drove it off the lot with 6 miles on it. This is my first new vehicle so its been a little discerning to me that this has more issues than any used car I have owned before. A few weeks after owning the truck, my microphone stopped working for my phone calls and the onstar stopped working all together. My OnStar module died and they replaced it with a new one. About 5 thousand miles later, my trucks radio screen started randomly going black, turning off all sound, then coming back on again. It would resume where it last was, phone call still intact or radio still on the right station. This went on for about 2 weeks then my dash lit up and chimed at me, the radio turned off like it does I get a warning of a Power Steering Failure. I call my local shop and get it in there right away. The drive in, the power steering worked just fine. They said the reading came back as High Voltage, they updated the computer and sent me on my way. Fast Forward to 3 weeks later, my truck starts doing the radio off again but this time the dash lights all shut off too. I can't be sure but it seems to do it when its wet outside. It did not have problems after I was in the shop but it was also dry outside. I also noticed when this happens the voltmeter spikes high. I am dropping my truck off again the Tuesday after Christmas. Does anyone have experience with this before? The shop told me last time they have never seen this before. Thanks!
  9. Ok so I want to put a post together about the onstar, XM, sharkfin, and whatever else antenna we have on the K2xx platform. I know there have been water leaks plaguing all years from 14-18. All the posts here I have seen, don’t really have any info or “the dealer fixed it”. A lot of people have commented that there is a break in the seal in the rear of the antenna. Please understand that is not a water seal for water intrusion into the cabin. That is only a rubber trim from the plastics of the antenna to the metal roof skin. There is a foam seal that goes around the wires and the mount that does all of the sealing of the elements. When the foam seal deteriorates is when the water issues start. I will explain with pics a little further down in the post. So I have a 14 Denali, vehicle was Daily driven, until 2 months ago, has 90,xxx miles on it, sat out side during the day, and garage kept at night. I have never had any water issues from the antenna (or the 3rd brake light for that matter) Here you can see the square seal around the home in the roof was still sealing with no issues One of the reasons this post happened was because I found a color matched shark fin brand new for VERY cheap. And my Denali has the black plastic fin from the factory.
  10. I have the 2020 2500 LTZ trim level with back slide window and without sunroof. So i want to remove the overhead console to install a panel of rocker switches posterior to the console right where the roof liner scoops down. I am stuck on how to remove the single button switch for the rear slide window. I tried what i know but don't want to break it. Please share if anyone have come across this. Thanks
  11. OnStar sucks!!! It's been 2 weeks since I've taken delivery of my truck OnStar still hasn't been able to signup my truck and now I'm halfway through my "super generous" month of a working app. I've called them 4 different times they waist about a half hour of my time then the level 2 person tells me they put in a ticket and they'll call me when it's fixed. Onstar has yet to call me back once! Absolutely unacceptable!!! Especially when you only get one month of service VS the 5 years I got with my last truck. Why am I still buying GM?
  12. So I posted last week about an issue I've been having for quite some time. I've recently got a big up my butt about getting it take care of, and was messing around with it and discovered something new that may help with the diagnosis. When I push the voice activation button, the system says "ready" then beeps. At this point, if I say nothing it will tell me some of the commands I can say. however if after the beep I say anything, it doesn't respond at all, and after about 30 seconds will say "goodbye" and hang up on me. Now, if I press the OnStar button which uses the same microphone, the OnStar rep can hear me just fine, so I know its not the microphone. Any ideas?
  13. Just got an email from Onstar which claims "up to three months" free services. However upon a closer read it appears to be only 1 month free. The additional 2 months are free only if you chose a monthly renewing plan within the first 15 days of your trial. Not sure its worth the hassle. My luck I've missed some fine print and will end up getting charged....
  14. Hello, New to the site but have been lurking here before. Been looking around and can't find any good information on the situation so I wanted to post a question. I have a 2015 Silverado LT Crew 4x4. A month or two ago I noticed this faint red (more like orange) light flash on the rear view mirror. I know the red light means Onstar is not connected but in this case it flashes very quickly. I push the buttons and nothing happens. Then I noticed the compass in the infotainment is empty and the dash shows N all the time. I called Onstar and they tried to connect and couldn't. They said we cannot connect to your vehicle please take it the dealer. Well I don't go to the dealer if I can help it. So I have been doing some research. Now here is the thing that has me concerned...in October of last year I installed a Rough Country 30" light bar. No problems, it works fine, but I really can't remember if this Onstar issue was before or after that. I looked in the manual about Onstar stuff and found in there "Dont add electrical equipment" it could effect Onstar etc. etc. Is this really my problem? I disconnected the light bar and Onstar doesn't come back, I have checked the fuses that are linked to Onstar and they are fine. Has anyone seen this type of problem? Is it pure coincidence that the Onstar problem happened after I put on the light bar? Is there a way on the truck to reboot Onstar? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Justin
  15. I have heard that GM can tell of I have been speeding with my truck when they hook up their computer to it. Is that true? That's not really my issue, but somewhat related topic is can they tell i tried a burnout with my new truck? I did one for 5-10 seconds and am just wondering if that information can be read with their diagnostics system? Thanks!
  16. Hello All i apologize if this information is available somewhere else on this forum. I recently had my dealer add the Remote Start to my 14 Silverado. As many around the web have mentioned, the onstar app does not automatically update to show the Remote Start options under the Key Fob tab and many have been told by onstart customer service it can not be done. I decided to go with the "Paper Trail" route and send an email from the Onstar Website. I wanted to post this to help anyone else that finds not having the remote start option as a pain in the butt. 1) Choose the "Contact Us" tab on the Onstar website. 2) Inform them that your Dealer recently added the OEM Remote Start package to your vehicle. The dealer flashed and updated the Onstar Module and suggested that you contact Onstar Tier 2 Tech would be able to update the parameters/build data of your vehicle to have the app work with the remote start. 3)Wait a day, Onstar will call you to update you that they are forwarding your request to the Tier 2 techs to update your build data. 4)Wait another day then they will call back to tell you it is complete and to log out of the app then log back in to see it. I was super surprised how easy it was to have this done as i have read many places it could not be done. I hope yall have the same success that I did.
  17. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 1-9-2019 General Motors announced today that it is offering up some free OnStar for those owners who don't already subscribe. We reviewed the offer, which is packed with more fine print that a celebrity divorce agreement, to try to get the important parts straight for our members. One of the fine print sections actually references the Famer's Almanac. The deal breaks down to three free months as long as you are willing to give OnStar your credit card, full contact info and a cheek swab for DNA verification. You need to own a 2006 or newer GM vehicle equipped with OnStar and it has to work. In fairness to GM, if you want to opt out all you need to do is press the Blue button and tell the associate you're out. The services available depend a bit on the model, but should include Automatic Crash Response, Roadside Assistance, Emergency Services, Crisis Assist and access to a live advisor at the push of a button. “These services can help Chevy customers drive with confidence during some of the most dangerous times to be on the road,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “With OnStar, we’re bringing peace of mind to owners, knowing that an advisor is ready to help.” To begin your free service simply press the Blue button. You get one month with no hassles, and up to three if you go in for the full contact info dance. If interested, push the button before January 23rd. Why the enrolment for the program ends on a Wednesday was not explained.
  18. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 12-19-2018 General Motors is bringing back its OnStar Santa tracker with a little help from NORAD. This Christmas Eve, folks with an OnStar subscription can keep track of Santa's progress across the globe with a touch of the blue OnStar button. “Each year we receive thousands of Santa Update requests,” said Stacey Unold, director of Contact Center Operations supporting Chevrolet. “It's a fun way for Chevrolet owners to use technology to connect their families with important information about Santa's journey and spread holiday cheer.” The first 10,000 touches of that OnStar button to check on Santa will also result in GM donating $1 to the American Red Cross. So, press away, it all goes to a good Claus. Cause.
  19. 2000 miles out of warranty my vcim suspiciously shorts out about 2 weeks after being at the dealer to fix an antenna issue (mouse chewed thru it). I am told it will be $1200 to repair/replace the vcim. What are my alternatives if I don't care if I have Onstar but still want navigation and bluetooth capabilities? 2016 Chev Silverado LTZ. 38000 miles
  20. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 4-24-2018 General Motors and Amazon have finalized the rollout of a new delivery service that will allow GM owners with OnStar to have their Amazon deliveries placed directly into the trunk or cargo area of their 2015 or newer GM vehicle. Called Amazon Key In-Car, the service is now available in 37 cities and will rapidly expand. “Partnering with Amazon to leverage our embedded in-vehicle connectivity gives Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac owners the option to conveniently receive deliveries inside their vehicle parked at home, work or near other locations in their Amazon address book,” said Alan Batey, President, General Motors North America. “This is another example of how we provide customers with technologies that add value and enhance the ownership experience.” Users can track the progress of the package and are notified when it is delivered and locked inside the vehicle. “The in-car delivery option is another way Amazon helps ensure that my order is delivered safely and conveniently. Setup was super easy for my OnStar-equipped car—I granted Amazon Key permission to open my car’s trunk and the ability to relock my car when done, and that was it,” said Scott L. from Miami, one of the Amazon Prime members who received early access to the service. “I can’t wait to check my car’s trunk to see what’s delivered next!” To get started users need only go to Amazon and download the app. If you own a Volvo, you are also eligible for the service. Thus far, only the GM brands and Volvo can take advantage of the service.
  21. Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum. I want to add Bluetooth to my 2008 Chevy Avalanche ltz. My Avy has OnStar and factory navigation, rear entertainment, and xm radio. I want to add Bluetooth by swapping out my existing OnStar VCIM with one that has Bluetooth. Can anyone tell me if this is doable and if it will work. Please advise. Thank You.
  22. Readers of this site may remember that we attended a seminar by OnStar earlier this year. John McFarland, Director, Connected Customer Experience OnStar Division laid out for the GM-Trucks team how the group would dramatically expand the proactive alerts GM vehicles will send to drivers. Connected vehicles are here now and GM is a leader in this regard, perhaps number two to Tesla in the industry. Do you use an App now to connect with your vehicle? If so, tell us what you most commonly do.
  23. After the assessment, drivers can choose to share the driving data and evaluation information with Progressive Insurance through its SnapShot discount program. Progressive will be the first insurance company to use OnStar Data to evaluate actual driving behavior. Only available in the United States the opt-in driving evaluation and data sharing will be available on all 2016 models, most 2015 models, and some 2013/2014 models.
  24. OnStar fulfilled over 35-million requests for driving directions in the last year and plans to leverage AtYourService to give drivers added information about or even coupons relating to their final destination. Among the first companies to support AtYourService will be major players like Dunkin Donuts and Priceline.com. Also rolling out for for full-service subscribers is the ability to book hotel reservations from behind the wheel. Said Scott Hudler, vice president, Global Consumer Engagement for Dunkin’ Donuts: “We can’t think of a more exciting and targeted way to connect with our guests than when they are in their vehicles looking for a Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant. We’ll bring value to GM drivers while driving those consumers to our stores with instant incentives.”
