  1. Hey everyone, I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. I bought it in April of last year and it has been miserable. I visited the dealership more times than i can count and some problems still are happening. The main problem is my truck shutting off. In Early September, I noticed as i was driving my radio would go black, then as i would tap my breaks everything would shut off and turn back on. As this happens, the stabilitrak light comes on, my truck stalls (sometimes) steering wheel locks and starts shaking. Now this happens everyday when i drive it. Go to the dealership they say it is a corroded wire, they take care of it and send me on my way. December of 2019 my truck starts doing the EXACT same thing, except now i can't even do anything but shift my truck into park and restart it, every small touch on the brake shuts my truck off. Now i live in the mountains, and we have a lot of hills. Imagine driving a blacked out truck in the middle of the night on a hilly road with no lights and your truck completely cuts out. It was sketchy. I go to the dealership, ONCE again. They replaced a WHEEL BEARING. Saying it caused the issue. tf... To my surprise the truck has been fine. Fast track to June, present day. Drive my truck for a half hour or more, the problem is back. Now i am pissed. My boyfriend and myself do research and we found a youtube video about GM trucks and problems with G218. All the exact problems to a T! i brought it to the dealership this morning, they refuse to do anything until the truck signals any of these problems. Instead of popping open the dashboard to even just look. It has been 6 hours and now they are keeping it overnight. 40 minutes from where i live.. I am pissed. I did my homework and presented it to them, thought they had listened but apparently not. From how it seems, i am not the only problem having this issue with 2014+ older GM trucks. Everyone keeps saying this needs to be a recall but the dealerships WILL NOT listen. I know people on this forum who have spent thousands on diagnosis's for their trucks to just have them messed around with. Anyone else having this issue? I would love for my boyfriend to just fix it but then it voids my warranty. How the hell do we get GM to acknowledge this and make it a recall. I am by far not the only person having this issue.
  2. Ive got about 12k miles on my 2018 Sierra SLT. Last week I started getting the “service stabilitrak” message nearly every time I went through mud. I took it to dealer and they said there was a TSB on it. Said it was mud/debris hitting underneath the truck, for which the remedy was to spray some dampening coating. Well, I was out deer hunting this afternoon, went through some mud... ding... service stabilitrak. Any ideas?
  3. I have a 2017 Silverado 1500 and just this year when the cold weather started, in the mornings when I start driving I get traction control off, stabilitrak off, and brake fluid low messages. I don't lose power and nothing else happens. After the sequence the traction control turns back on. It does it when I start accelerating and sometimes just random while driving. Anyone having this problem?
  4. Okay so I have a 2008 GMC Sierra with 130 on a 5.3. It's my daily driver and now has some issues. Basically a misfire in cylinder 2 that I would like any good help with before I keep trying new things that might not work. So the stalibitrak and traction control lights also flash and are on regularly which started at the same time. Meanwhile the engine light has flashed for a couple seconds but is usually solid. It is a p0302 misfire. So far I have cleaned the MAF, checked for leaks, changed all spark plugs, coils, and wires, ran some seafoam through it at the brake booster line and some in the gastank. I pulled the new spark plug after it didn't work for inspection and it was very carbon fouled after 3 days and very little driving. It runs good at higher speeds but idles rough and loud I would say klunky. Has not stalled. So Does anyone have any ideas before I keep changing things that are not the problem? 2008 Chevy Silverado/ 08 GMC Sierra 5.3
  5. Hopefully you guys can help me out here a bit. I have a 2014 Silverado CCSB Z71 5.3 with 38000 miles on it. I was driving to work this morning and had the reduced engine power alert come up in my DIC along with the stabilitrak light. I pulled over, shut the truck off and re-started a few times with no success in clearing the codes with drive cycles. While driving, the transmission was banging gears pretty hard and the torque converter was clunking worse than "normal, by GM standards". I got to a good spot to park the truck and that is that for now. I am anticipating a tow to the dealership as I am about 20 miles away from it now for what will hopefully fall under the powertrain warranty as my bumper to bumper was up 1 months and 2k miles ago. Anyone have a similar problem with this or any insight as to what it may be. Im iffy on driving it home to scan it, as I dont want to compound any problems. I drove the truck Saturday night, probably 60 miles on the highway with no issues and it sat in the garage until this morning. Help me out, internets!
  6. My warning lights come on when temp outside is in the 40’s and below. It says “ Low Brake Fluid, Stabilitrak Off, Traction Control Off” and this morning it also said low coolant. I live in south Florida so this happened last year when I went to Ohio in December, the truck had 12,000 miles on it. Got back to Florida and it happened one cold morning so I took it to dealership. They could not find anything wrong. Later with 38,000 miles the low coolant light came on. I took it to dealership again, they could not find anything. Now I am back in Ohio for Christmas and the lights started coming on again when I got into colder weather. They do go off at times while driving but come back on within 10 minutes if the temp outside is still below 40. It is very annoying as the warning bell starts going off and the lights flash. Any advice?
  7. I am new to the forums and hoping someone may have seen this or run into this before. I own a 2012 Silverado LTZ Crew Cab, 5.3L, 2WD, 102K miles, Factory radio with a harness plug for a an amp for subs. Electric drop down side steps. LED headlights & fogs. K&N Nighthawk Intake. Battery is less than a year old but i'm in Arizona so batteries get wrecked yearly. I recently took my truck to my local DIY car wash place where I always go. I washed my truck like normal and dried it off like normal. I did not spray engine bay, just the front grill area inward but not heavy. I don't usually use my AC but I'm in Arizona and it was about 109* outside. When I was leaving the car wash I kicked my AC on so I wouldn't mess up the clean windows from rolling them down. I proceeded to leave and as I was coming to the stop sign before making my turn and my truck's idle started to drop, truck kinda sputtered, the battery voltage dropped, the stabilitrak light, traction light, ABS light, all kicked on. The radio shutoff and turned back on. The AC shut off and turned back on, but switched from recirc to fresh. I turned the AC off and then back on again and continued to drive home. It did it a few more times so I swung into the gas station to park and see if it would do it while i was sitting there. Nothing. So back on the road again, turned my AC on and hit the next light, and it did it again. I changed my oil today (6/13), I cleaned my K&N air filter last weekend. I took a trip to Lowes this morning to see if it was still doing it, and sure enough it was. The photos are attached of it doing it in the lowes parking lot before I left. I rolled the windows down, turned the AC off and cruised home. It didnt do it again. So I am thinking the AC is drawing a huge amount of power from the system when I run it, or my battery is done for. Any helpful feedback would be appreciated.
  8. I bought a Certified Pre-Owned 2010 Sierra SLE 5.3L (LC9) Vin code "3" about 3 years ago. It's stock besides a front leveling spacer on the strut, no aftermarket electrical. The truck will intermittently go into limp mode with "Service Stabilitrak & Service Traction Control" displayed on the DIC (No SES Light). Eventually when the CAN bus reboots the SES light illuminates. After clearing the codes it drives normal until it happens again. I've had it happen on the freeway, in park, on normal surface roads, over bumps, doesn't seem to be a reason why or when it occurs other than outside temps. The odd thing is it only acts up when its warmer than 60 Degrees outside, this winter she drove fine without a single hiccup. Which tells me it might be an internal module failure... However, I've had it happen in the same spot on the way to work several times. When I pull the DTC's it's from modules that lost communication on the high speed CAN/LAN buss or modules requesting MIL because of no ability to communicate. DTC's: U0073 - Communication Bus A OFF U0100 - Lost Comm with ECM U0101 - Lost Comm with TCM P0700 - TCM Request MIL P069E - Fuel Pump Control Module Request MIL U0140 - Lost Comm with BCM U0121 - Lost Comm with EBCM U0102 - Lost Comm with Transfer Case Cntrl Module - I've replaced the battery (Optima Red Top), cleaned the terminals and cleaned Mega Fuse. Tested Alternator with a Midtronics GR8 - Cleaned the Grounds on the Front Engine Block, Fire Wall, Chassis under drivers door, front frame by radiator. (Hood to Firewall ground strap missing) - Removed the UBEC fuse block and swapped relays, no corrosion, applied dielectric grease. - Removed the TPA lock on the TCM/ Trans connector, checked for backed out terminals or ATF leaking. Found nothing abnormal. - Checked the Harness from the TCM going up to the Engine Block, nothing abnormal. - Checked EBCM connectors & harness, nothing abnormal - Checked FPCM connectors & harness, nothing abnormal - Replaced 120 Ohm Terminating Resistor (Twice) - Checked ECM connectors & harness, nothing abnormal - Checked BCM Connectors, nothing abnormal - Checked harness on top of engine, nothing - Using a DLC Break-out box, I have 60 ohms on PIN 14 (CAN High), but haven't been able to test when it acts up. - I can talk to most modules with my scan tool when the CAN bus is online, if I plug it in just after the bus went down, I cant communicate and have to wait until the bus reboots to clear the codes and get back on the road. I used to be able to clear the codes "on the fly" while driving but it seems like its taking the bus longer to reboot as time goes on. Just ordered new Positive and Negative battery cables, and the Hood ground (not sure why the hood needs a ground) Could the VCIM module be bad? The truck is pretty much babied since I've had it, I change the oil myself every 2-3k (fear of AFM issues). Any help is much appreciated. I'm running out of ideas.
  9. So I had a bully dog tuner for my truck and haven't had it plugged in since I got a new engine installed a few years back. Found it today and found someone who would buy it. Contacted bully dog and found out that I would have to change my tuning to "stock" to be able to unlock the device so the guy could buy it from me. I told them that my truck was already stock and they said that I just needed to run the stock tune to be able to unlock it. So I did that and it cut my engine power and turned off ABS and Stabilitrak. Cant go over 25mph, truck shakes, sounds weird. I have no idea what to do and their customer service is closed for the night. I have work in the morning, any suggestions?
  10. I bought my 2014 Silverado last July when I came back from Afghanistan. Truck was fine. Every now and then when I’d hit a pot hole or back up in tight spots my stabilitrak light would come on. And when I would back up it felt as tough my power steering was out. Fast forward to March 2019 and the problem got worse. I would be driving and the stabilitrak light would come on, truck shuts off and then comes right back on. Yeah. It literally shuts off by itself and then cuts right back on by itself. I did my research and I replaced the steering angle sensor. It fixed the problem. Now the past few weeks the problem came back. My wife and I drove to NC and the truck did the same thing. It cut off 12 times that day. It didn’t matter how slow or fast I was going it still would shut off and cut back on. Last weekend I stopped at a gas station and then the truck didn’t even start. No lights came on when I opened the door and nothing when I turned the key. It’s in the shop now and they don’t even know what the problem is. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
  11. Alright gang, I've got an '09 Yukon Denali that was having cruise control issues from time to time. I replaced the brake light switch which seemed to solve that issue but shortly after I had the service stabilitrak/traction control message display come up as well as a glowing ABS light. The switch was replaced a couple of weeks back. The traction control/stabilitrak message has illuminated maybe 5 or 6 times since and only comes on when I have stopped at a light or a stop sign. I know this may be a wheel speed sensor issue but the fact it showed up shortly after changing the brake light switch has be scratching my head. Anyone have a stabilitrak cure? Thanks for any input.
  12. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra Single Cab 4.3L V6. Pulled into the parking lot at work this morning with no issues. Went to back into a parking spot and when I shifted into reverse, EVERYTHING in the cab shut off for about 3 seconds. When it came back on I had an airbag alarm and a stabilitrak alarm. I backed into the spot without issue. As far as I could tell the drive-train was fine. I have the convenience package which is basically the backup camera, Bluetooth, and On-Star. Anyone else come across this issue or anything similar?
  13. Hi everybody, does anyone have any suggestions why my 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 gives me the message "service stabilitrak and service traction control"? It only happens while the truck has been sitting under the sun and the outside temperature is hot. The message does not appear first thing in the morning when I use the truck to go to work and the outside temperature is not hot yet.
  14. hey gm lovers mountain man here. ive got a 2017 gmc sierra 1500 crew cab 4x4 7" lift 35 " tires.and I am having problems/hate the stabilitrak.when I make a long angle 90 degree turn at more than 25 mph the stabilitrak comes on and I hate it.i understand how stabilitrak works and why its there.and the cables going to the wheel hubs are not tight when stand still of course. BUT is there a way to eliminate it.i kinda already have.i pulled the #3 fuse under the hood which is the antilock brake system BUT I have no cruise control and I understand why. plus the abs and stabliltrak light is on but I don't care.i still have brakes and they work fine and it DOES NOT SKID when you slam on brakes at 60mph.but what I would like to accomplish if possible if anybody out there can get there hands on a wire diagram for fuse #3 and if there is a certain wire under fuse #3 (theres 8-10) that controls only the stabilitrak that I could cut and just put a toggle switch in the cab.or if there is another to eliminate stabilitrak and still have cruise control im all ears.any questions feel free to ask thanx UPDATE: went to dealership today for one of my free one changes.said they have been having problems with the steering rack and that might be causing my stabilitrak issues.we will see.part will be here in about 2 weeks.will give yall a update when it happens.
