  1. Hey i'm looking for some help on doing a transmission swap in a 2002 Chevy Silverado Here are the specs of my truck: -2002 Silverado automatic transmission -4x4 -v6 4.3 engine Could someone please let me know if I need to find a transmission with the exact year of (2002). Or will other years interchange with no modifications needed. I want to be able to simply swap them. I am getting mixed feed back from the salvage yards around my area. Most of the are saying I have to get a 2002 transmission and others are saying other years will work just fine. Apparently GM changed the part number each year so it adds the confusion perhaps. There is one salvage yard in my area that has a transmission from a 2004 and they are telling me it will work just fine. They said if anything the fly wheel might not work and they said they will provide the fly wheel with the transmission incase it doesn't fit the flywheel thats currently on my 2002 truck. Thanks for any help someone can provide!
  2. WARNING: This is going to be an odd one, and a long shot / shot in the dark to boot. I hope it's not too far off topic, but there just aren't really many forums for this. First things first. I currently am in possession of a pair of Pace Arrow motorhomes, one a 1982 on what I believe is a P20 chassis (6.2 diesel / 16-inch wheels), the other a 1983 on what I believe is a P30 chassis (7.4 gas, 19.5-inch wheels), though I have read this one is likely a P32, not a P30, which I believe only has minor suspension and brake differences. I am not sure which one I will use, or if I can even do what I have in mind. Both have severe roof problems and are too much work to repair properly to be worth it, but run great, and both are extremely low mileage (14k and 65k, respectively). I have seen several 3500s (same cab as 1500 / 2500) with the same 19.5-inch wheel and 7.4L, with an added valance of sorts between the main grille and bumper, suggesting that the cab sits higher and is on a different frame. I have also noticed similarities in rail-to-rail measurements between the P and C/K on chassis diagrams I have downloaded. Auto Zone shows the same body mount kit for the P and C/K for 1983. I have to wonder as well if the late-model U-Haul 26-footers are on a P30/P32 chassis. Even late-model GM cutaway cabs and cab/chassis for U-Haul, small buses and even the Kodiak MDT appear to be the same Express van cab (the G-van's replacement, which was the basis for some box trucks of its vintage). I have also noticed that some of those box trucks had a longer, more raked nose, even though it was a G-van cab. A few pics are attached -- a motorhome similiar to the larger one I have, a "high-boy" 3500 box truck with the extended valance and the same 19.5-inch wheel, and the "Lil' Kenny" kit built for the late-model C/K frame. All of this leads me to believe that a square-body or GMT400 C /K cab would mount on a P chassis with little fuss and muss. Which leads to my main question -- does anyone know if this can be done? Seems like it would work, but I'm hoping someone here has done this before or knows someone who has. I have run across a few similar projects, but could not confirm any of them were finished to the point of a running, driving (and safe) vehicle. The reason I ask such an outlandish question -- I've had a couple ideas here. One was to simply swap a cab / nose from a 73-03 C/K onto the frame. The other idea was a "Lil' Big Rig" kit (scaled down Peterbilt / Kenworth cab built for popular full-size pickup frames). In the event anyone is inspired, the Kenworth version is built specifically for GM, and can be adapted to Dodge, while the Peterbilt version is fitted for use with Ford F-series, though either can be adapted for the other. I'm thinking some modification would be necessary, as the P's steering column sits directly beside the engine. The steering box shows a different part number between the P and C/K, so I wonder if this would be the thing that makes it impossible. However, I wonder if the cab sitting lower might correct this position, or if I would need to change the column / intermediate shaft, or even the steering box itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to iron out the if's on this idea before I start tearing things apart and find out some technical snag, especially as the Lil Big RIg kits are quite pricey. Would rather have some answers before I start. Kinda thought about yanking the 7.4 and trans from the '83, starting fresh with a used U-Haul, and saving the 7.4 for when the U-Haul's 8.1 gives up. Might be easier, but I like the idea of using what I have if I can. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
  3. Okay, I hope all's well here and I can find someone who can help! I need information I can't seem to find. I am in a financial bind and need to replace the motor of my 07 Tahoe. It has thrown a piston through the interior of the block. I was trying to find out if there is a straight plug and play swap from another truck I might use. I just don't have $1500 for a proper 07 Tahoe motor. I can pull a motor in my area for around $400. Problem is there are no 07 Tahoes there, but have found many 5.3l Silverados and a few Older Yukons & Suburbans. All I keep getting is that I have to get vin J motors for it to be a straight swap. The heads of my 07 are fine with the exception of one push rod that I'm in the process of changing! Help! Anyone have any suggestions?
  4. Hey guys, I just bought an LQ4/6.0 out of a 2006 Denali XL Complete Long Block Engine Harness /w ECU Accessories The swap will be going into a 2007 Reg Cab Silverado. Truck came factory with the 4.8L Vortec. My questions go as follows. 1. Would the swap work easier since I have the ECU/ECM that came with it ? 2. 06' Below uses 24x Crank Sens... 07+ 58x Crank Sens... Could it work since i have the ECU/Harness ? 3. Would the truck still start up/drive without unlocking the ECU ? 4. What other things should i be worried about ? 5. What things should I get for the swap if needed ? I will be using a JEGS adapter/4.8 Flexplate to mount the 4l60e to it "4l80 will be put in later"
  5. I'm looking to do a full interior swap/update on my '99 silverado, don't know much about interior fabrication but i'm going to do what I have to in order to make it work. For now I plan on taking everything I can out of a part-out silverado from 2014 or newer and throwing it straight into my truck. If anybody has any tips or prior knowledge from a project of the same nature any help would be appreciated. From what I could find, not many people have documented this sort of thing on YouTube and the ones who have only show off the final product instead of the full process or steps they needed to take in order to get what I'm looking for.
  6. Is it possible to use 2500 f-diff and r-axle under 1500 build, wondering if brackets were different installing 7 inches Suspension left with 2.5 keys
  7. Hey Guys, I have a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV with a 5.3L LMG and a 6L80 Trans (MYC) looking to drop in a 6.2L L9H. As far as I understand it is a direct swap. Would I run in to any issues or codes as far as the L9H not having AFM/DOD? I plan on using the 5.3L PCM and having it re flashed to work with the 6.2 Or do I look for a L94 that has FlexFuel, VVT, AFM like the LMG does?
  8. Looking to swap my “stepless” bumper for a “stepped” bumper. Anyone with a bumper to a 2014-18 rear bumper with step corners and a bumper with sensor spots, contact me. I’m in Lancaster county, PA. My truck is the Sierra painted in Stealth Gray Metallic.
  9. So I bought a used 2014 Sierra SLT All Terrain knowing there were certain aspects that weren’t exactly what I wanted but choosing to sacrifice for mileage and overall package. One of those was that the bumper does not have corner steps by the tailgate. This is proving to be more of a pain than I though especially considering when my current tires are worn I’m swapping to much larger tires and possible a lift. Anybody have ideas or advise on swapping the bumper? Best I’ve seen eBay and a body shop respraying in my body color is best. Am I right?
  10. I'm trying to update an old 51 pickup that hasn't run in years. What's the most affordable way to put a newer engine in it? I was thinking something like a small block, but I'm out of my depth. The end goal is a dessert runner, mild offroad capability.
  11. I own a 04 chevy silverado 1500. The brakes are spongy ( I've bleed them throughly, new everything except booster and master). My work trucks brakes are great 06 Sierra 2500 hd dual piston calipers all the way around same pads as the ones in my chevy. The question is can I upgrade to a dual piston the rear? They currently have the wimpy single piston. If an upgrade is possible do I need to upgrade the Master cylinder to accommodate the extra volume? If so can I just order the 2500 hd master cylinder?
  12. I have a 99 silverado 2500. Has middle fold down seat. I want to put center console and seats with arm rests in like tahoes had. What years and seat would work. I want cloth seats.
  13. Hey all I was wanting to do a 2500 front end conversion on my 2018 1500 Silverado. Has anyone done this to their truck if so whats the process and what is required? I'll take any advice i can get as im only looking to change the hood, grill, headlights, and bumper obviously. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  14. First post, hoping someone can provide some advice or solution I have a 2016 silverado LT that came with cloth seats. The seats have heating, not cooling. I purchased some leather seats on offer up, I just finished installing them and the drivers seat is not moving... The passengers side works fine, so does the heating option. So I'm wondering if the seat is bad or if my trucks wire harness is not compatible with these seats since they seem to also have cooling. If that's the case, has anyone else done this before? And is there a way to fix this. Another weird thing I noticed is my truck is reading 32° and displays the possible ice on road warning. But it's like 90° outside. So there's definitely something not 100% compatible with mine.
  15. I'm trying to swap 4.3 2003 into 1998 4l60e its done on ls swaps all the time I think I need bellhousing flex plate torque converter adapter anyone chime in no negative Nancy's please
  16. Hey Guys, I have the opportunity to pick up a 2019 5.3 engine & transmission with 20k miles on it fairly cheap. I have an 09 sierra that I'd like to swap it into, currently running a stock 5.3. My question is: Is it a big deal to make a change between years like that? I've replaced engines before in older trucks but never with this type of age difference, I don't want to get in over my head. Thanks!
  17. What all parts would I need to do a 6.0 cam swap on a 5.3 truck is a 2008
  18. Hi, first time posting on here, I hope I am not bringing up an issue that has been solved or brought up elsewhere. Here we go, I have a 2015 single cab swb 4x4 that came with a 4.3/6l80e, i have swapped this to a 2017 l86/ 8l90e. Truck was fully operational prior to swap no issues, upon completing the mechanical portion of the swap and starting the electrical checkout I have run into some issues. Truck will power up bcm/ gauge cluster with no issue/ lights but I have no ecm activation as fars fuel system coming on or engine rolling over. I am getting the following DTCs: 2535, U0100, 1029( low voltage from fuel system). I have reached out to 8+ different shops for assitance and offered to pay for their time but have not recieved a solution or either not enough experience with newer truck/ motor systems, if there is anyone that has any thoughts/ recommendations/ experience/ solutions on this would be great or a capable shop around north Texas, I am all ears, really excited to figure out what is going and get this on the road. Also everything is 100% factory parts other than texas speed cam and delete kit.
  19. I was wondering what a good swap would be. I have the stock 5.3 but I want some umph. I travel for work and still need gas mileage but I have hit a dead end in research. Can anyone help me?
  20. Does anyone know if the OEM HID headlight housings, ballast, etc are plug-and-play? If I found a 2015 donor truck with OEM HID headlights, could I easily swap the housings with my halogen housings? Disconnect the HID harness/ballast and install them on my truck?
  21. Hey guys, just wondering if anyone on here has swapped clusters in Canada. Thinking about doing this and have read lots of threads about it on this Forum, however couldn't find anything really about the guys who have done it in Canada ( where to purchase other than dealer, where they had them programmed, clusters in KM/H etc etc ). The denali style cluster would be going into a 2017 GMC Sierra with the blue backlighting. Thanks!
  22. Ok, I know this sounds weird, but I want an answer so I will cut to the chase. Are there any conversion kits for a 2013 Sierra that transform the front end into a 2013 Silverado? I am asking because I have a 2013 sierra and a 2013 silverado and I like the Silverado look better. I am trying to build identical Prerunners and my silverado is finished. All I want are the grill, headlights, etc. I don’t even need a hood since I am using aftermarket Cowl hoods. I’ve searched anywhere but all of the conversion kits are for people who are either turning the chevy’s into gmcs or making them look newer.
  23. Hi everyone, I haven't been on in a while, but, I wanted to check in, as this is still something that is bugging me. Does anyone know if the anzo headlights for the 2016-18 silverados.. trim.. fit the oem headlights? My thought is, because the oem branded headlights are so expensive, and because I only want to change from chrome to paint color, this may be a cheaper workaround. Its still quite costly, but, I can't find another way to get the trim reliably. I'd still honestly like to switch to LED lights, but, its just not a reasonable proposal when I already have HIDs.
  24. Hello everyone, I recently bought this clean title, high mileage 2000 Silverado LS Z71 from my coworker. It was right before Christmas and I really wanted to help the guy out knowing full well I could do something with it. Heck, I needed a truck after all. I get home and attempt to drain the oil but nothing comes out. After some poking around with a screwdriver, I get it to drain. Chunks are flowing along with the oil and it turns out there was so much sludge build up in the bottom of the pan, it sucked some up, suffered a momentary loss of oil pressure and spun the bearing. I know the transmission had a hard shift from first to second. Could it be low fluid? Maybe, but why do the swap just to find out the transmission is bad? My coworker friend was a smoker and it appears he preferred his coffee without a lid so the interior is....interesting. Also truck only has oxidation on the hood and fenders so the only reasonable choice was to find a salvaged donor vehicle to source parts from!! I have a buddy with a dealers license and I'm debating picking up this rear ended 2006 Escalade for a FULL front end/interior/dash/drivetrain swap. Can it be done? Plug and play? Anything someone doing something like this should know? I've done some pretty crazy engine swaps and garage rebuilds, 2 stroke porting early on, etc. I have the ability but hopefully you folks can chime in and confirm whether or not it is possible or if there is a better option. I was also looking at a 2004 Duramax/6speed which was t-boned pretty good as a potential candidate but there's something about that plush Escalade interior....
  25. I am really interested in swapping out my 4.3 Vortec for a v8 in my 2003 Silverado 4x4 5speed manual. Any tips or advice and what is needed for this swap? I have read some posts about this but they all have different info on what is needed and difficulty etc.. thanks!
