Hello Everyone, I am excited to welcome you all the the new Texas Owner's Group!! We may be only a few members right now but this group will sureley grow quickly as Texas visits GM-Trucks.com more than any other state! Couple of quick notes before we get started. I have opened up a few new features for our group, such as this topics category for people to post in. Please note that this forum should be for regional/group/meetup related posts only, and that normal tech questions should still be posted in their applicable forum category. I have also added an event calendar for members to post group events and meetups. As this group grows the intent is that meetups will be held. I am looking for a Texas Owner's Group LEADER that will spearhead this group and hold at least one meetup a year(hopefully more as the group grows .) You will effectively be a moderator in charge of this group and the direction it goes. If you think this may be you, please post here or send me a PM. Now, let's start the introductions. Please post where you are located, what you drive, and any interesting details about you and your truck, how long you've been in texas, etc. I'll get us started. I am Josh and while I may not be a full time resident of Texas, my girlfriend recently moved to Austin for a work assignment. I have been here a few days and am having a great time exploring. I will be coming and going from my home in New Hampshire and look forward to attending some of this group's get togethers and meeting you all. Ok, who's next!?! Anybody else in the Austin area?

I recently purchased a Multi-Camera Interface for GMC Vehicles from ADC Mobile which includes a Front Camera, Side Cameras, and a 3rd Brake Light Camera and am not 100% convinced this is an install I would like to tackle on my own on a brand new truck... Does anyone have any recommendations on where I might be able to get this installed in the Houston Area? Or even better, someone who has installed one that would be willing to give me a hand installing it??? Thanks! -
Has anyone ever ran their stage 4 cam in a 5.3? I talked to texas speed and they recommended this to me for more power but when I talked to a sales guy at Brian Tooley Racing they claim that this cam will not have enough piston to valve clearance. Has anybody had problems with Texas speed in the past? Who is a more reputable company? Thanks in advance! -
As the title says, can anyone in the Houston, TX area recommend me a place to have my AMP Powersteps installed or be willing to help me do them for some compensation and beer?? I was planning to do this myself but have been so busy I can't give 4hrs to stumble through this on my own.. 4Wheel Parts quoted me at $350 which seems a little steep for something that is simply bolted on, a harness run and plugged into the OBDII Port. Can anybody help me out??? Thanks, Lance

Does anyone know of somewhere in the Houston area that would swap my door handles (have chrome but bought black ones) as well as remove my mirror caps and window belt moldings?? From everything I have read these items each take ~5min per door and a couple for the mirror caps. Hoping that someone who is comfortable with doing this could do it this quickly and for a reasonable price as I do not want to risk breaking any of the clips or turn a <1hr project into a 3hr one trying to do it myself... Thanks!

Hi all, I am relocating to the Northern Dallas area suburbs, I have a GMC and my wife does as well. So I am looking for suggestions of people who may have had experiences with any of the local dealers/service centers in that area. (Chevrolet or GMC as they will ultimately service both). I am quite a stickler when it comes to the details and quality of service, so any input would be greatly appreciated. I normally try to do much of the work on my own vehicles, but since I am renting a townhouse, most of my tools will be in storage until I find a more permanent place. I am really excited to move to Texas, I have been trying for awhile. I am also looking for good places to give the truck a bath, as I like to keep her looking new. I am also looking to network when down there, as I am moving without any close friend or family, so I would be interested in meets, clubs, etc. Thanks for any input. -

John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 10-13-2016 At this year's Texas Auto Writer's Association Truck Rodeo, GM trucks didn't win a single category. In many contests like this GM does quite well, so why didn't GM win anything? Because to win, you have to attend. The TAWA truck Rodeo is a two-day on and off-road testing event. Over 70 media professionals fly in and drive in from all points on the compass. Despite its name, TAWA accepts members from all over the world and has active members from as far away as Ohio and New Hampshire. These journalists travel to the event at their own expense because they are able to test over 80 trucks, crossovers, and SUVs in one place at one time. The manufacturers like the event because they can get 70-plus writers into the vehicles they bring during the event, which generates an enormous amount of press. This year, Buick, Cadillac and Chevy all skipped the event entirely. GMC sent two trucks, the Canyon Denali and the Sierra HD All-Terrain X. Contrast this with Toyota, which had three of its just announced Tacoma TRD Pro Tacaomas on hand. That may be all of the 2017 TRD Pro Tacomas in existence. Jeep sent every trim of multiple different models. Ford had a huge fleet at the event. So our story has two observations. First, don't put too much faith in vehicle awards. For all you know, the vehicle you favor may not have been considered in the contest. Second, something is up at GM if they opted not to send vehicles to a truck testing event like this. The return on investment is huge. Howdy everyone! Just thought I'd jump in here and make an intro post before I started digging into the forums. A couple weeks ago I sold my '08 Tahoe Z71 and bought a 2014 Silverado 4x4. It pained me to let go of the old girl, but it needed to happen. The Silverado has black heated leather seats and a front bench (awesome) MyLink, backup cam etc. so that made me feel a little better, haha. Which brings us to the reason behind the purchase of the Silverado.... Right now I'm running a real estate investment services business and recently began doing residential/commercial sales with a local broker to get some more experience and bring in a bit more income, all the while trying to finish up my degree at Texas A&M. I bought the Tahoe in cash 3 years ago, and have never had any auto loans or installment loans on my credit, just a number of monthly paid off credit cards! Although I have good credit, my lack of student loans, auto loans, or other financed purchases combined with the age of my credit (I turned 23 this month) would make it pretty difficult to secure the debt financing needed to purchase income-generating properties I have my eye on. SO, I sold the Tahoe, pulled a certain amount of cash out of the equity in it to keep, and put the remainder toward the Silverado's financing. All of this was done with the idea of building stronger credit over the next year, throwing a little cash into my future investment coffers, and continuing to work in my current capacities until I'm comfortable moving on more personal investment properties outside the scope of my business. I am intentionally doing this without financial backing from parents or other family members - even though they would happily help in a heartbeat, I insist on doing these things myself. Anyway I'm sure 0.3 out of 64,000 people found this interesting but I thought I'd share! Here's the old Tahoe and the new Silverado, because that's what you really wanted to see! The Tahoe was approaching 220,000 miles in this picture, I have many more from this shoot, it looks immaculate And here's the Silverado, now at 27,000 miles. I couldn't find pictures of the Texas Edition listed on Chevrolet's website anywhere but it lists it as a $1,995 option that says it includes: Texas Edition badging Chrome mirror caps and chrome door handles with LTZ trim Trailering Package, locking differential and 20" polished-aluminum wheels on LT models 20" chrome wheels and Bose® Sound speakers on LTZ models I have the LTZ model with everything it mentions but lacking the badging because I both lease and drive it in NY and to the best of my knowledge it's an option only avilable if delivered in Texas. I thought it would be a cheap add on to separate mine from others around here without doing anything crazy that would affect my lease terms. There are sellers on eBay and Amazon selling them. Since I have all the equipment anyway, why not? The 2015 Texas Edition's removes 'S I L V E R A D O' from the front driver and passenger side door and replaces it with the emblem. The 2014's have both the Texas edition logo and Silverado spelled out. I think I'd do the 2014 setup so it's an easy remove if I decide not to buyout at the end of my lease and the dealership gives me any crap about it. Does anyone know the proper placement/measurements of where it's to be placed? I can't find a good close up picture. I would want it to look as authentic as possible if I decide to do it.

I'm in Austin, TX but moving out of state in 2 weeks, so these items must be sold and picked up locally.
