Last week the side airbags accidentally deployed while doing some off-roading. This was an adhoc incident, as have been off-roading in the dunes for a couple of months, but this time there was no reasons for the airbags to deploy. Therefore need to install a switch to cut them off while doing some trails or tracks getting to a camp site.

So i'm having this issue where i'm trying to find air bags for the rear but everything I am finding is mounted to the axle. Well the readylift kit lift blocks for the rear has a tang welded to the block to relocate the bumper stop. Has anyone cut this off to make the bags fit? I asked readylift and obviously they don't recommend that, but also cant tell me what bags work with their product. Has anyone done anything to work around this?

Hi everyone, new to the forum here and haven't seem to be able to find an answer after searching. Purchased a 2020 1500 AT4 last summer(love the truck), and recently added the Firestone Ride-Rite kit to the rear(kit #2609). I also ordered the 2" spacer kit as recommended (kit #2366). I'm having a bit of a problem with the install and was wondering if anyone else has added rear air bags to their AT4, and did you end up using the spacer or were you fine without it? Problem is the air bags are slightly misaligned, and appear "under-inflated" with the spacer in there even when I have 10-20psi in them(there is about 500lbs in/on the box via a canopy and a Decked box system installed in the bed; I'd rather not have to try and remove these unless I absolutely need to, to diagnose the problem). I know in the instructions it says to have 5.5-6.5" of space between the upper and lower mounts. So my next plan is to jack up the back of the truck enough via the hitch receiver to recreate the correct factory fender gap front to back(should be roughly 1.5" from the factory with no load if I'm no mistaken?), and then measure the distance between the new mounts. Thoughts and/or someone who has added rear airbags to their AT4? I'd assume the Trail Boss would be very similar? Cheers -
Does anyone know what year airbags will work in a 2013 Silverado 1500. I have head 2011 thru 2014 and also 2007 thru 2013. Can anyone help ?

Our contact at the Chevy Truck department asked us to report that GM is launching a new campaign to adjust the sensitivity of the airbags in the Chevy Colorado ZR2. This is a refreshing change from the industry standard practice of soft-pedaling recalls and product programs. Here is the unedited information we were asked to convey: As you are aware, there have been reports of Colorado ZR2 owners whose roof-mounted side airbags deployed while off-roading. Upon learning of this issue, Chevrolet took immediate action to understand the root cause and create a solution. Today, we notified Chevrolet dealers of a customer-satisfaction initiative to recalibrate the thresholds for the roof-mounted side airbags for ZR2 owners. The updated calibration is available as of today, and will be installed free of charge the next time the customers takes their ZR2 to a Chevrolet dealer. There have been 11 reports of Colorado ZR2 owners whose roof-mounted side airbags deployed while off-roading. Chevrolet is working to reimburse those ZR2 customers for the cost of repair, provided the event data was available to confirm the incident. We are incredibly proud of the ZR2 and the off-road capability it offers, and are encouraged to see customers are using the truck as intended. If customers have questions, they should contact their local dealer or Chevrolet Customer Assistance at 800-833-2438 GM-Trucks.com readers may recall that in May we covered the news that owners were beginning to report that the airbags in their Colorado trucks were deploying while off-roading (and not in a crash). Hi I'm brand new here but I've been a frequent snooper but I've finally come to a problem I can't find discussed before. The other day while driving my check airbag light came on it comes and goes but never stays for more than a minute. So thinking it had to be a sensor I went to oriellys and had my error codes checked only to reveal much more problems than I expected. The codes were: p0237(which I have had sinse I replaced my fuel pump so I think it's just faulty especially because the fuel gauge hasn't been right either i got another replacment I haven't had the time to install though),P0480,P0463,P0455,P0332,P0327,C0040,C0035,U1041, I think it pulled up 14 total codes but many were duplicates I think he said. my truck a SCSB 4.8 with the work trim 2005 model and just under 145,000 miles The oriellys guy suggested it may be a failing ECU and after a little research I'm thinking he may be right but I'd just like to see if any of y'all might have some ideas. Also the lights flicker like they did before I replaced my alternator and the voltage jumps around on the needle like crazy but I think I may have just picked up another faulty part butluckily that can be replaced under warranty. Other than the flickering lights the truck doesnt show any obvious signs of problems. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated needless to say it ruined my evening yesterday hah

I have a 2014 single cab sierra with a beltech 4/7 drop and was looking around on forums to see what I could do to make the ride better. Most people would just say airbags and not specific kinds or brand it wasn't even the same truck so does anybody know what airbags could probabaly work best with a dropped truck so it could ride better? Any help would be appreciated!!

According to NHTSA's latest recall posting, GM is recalling every full sized truck and SUV model for airbags that may not inflate due to software issues. At the risk of missing a model, or seeming to exaggerate, we will copy and past the NHTSA model listing here: 2015-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles and 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500, Trax, Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle, GMC Sierra 1500, Buick Encore, and 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse, Chevrolet Spark EV and SS vehicles Airbags have been around for decades, but apparently they are still not a mature technology. This airbag recall is not related to the Takata debacle that causes injury when the airbags degrade and then work too quickly, causing injury by debris. Just to make this little defect more fun, the seatbelt pretensioners will also fail to work, so even if you are buckled up you are still going to be unprotected. GM says it will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. Normally, recall announcements end with "No crashes or deaths have been reported..." Unfortunately, reports are that this recall was instigated by the death of a GM owner. You don't have to wait to find out if your GM truck is one of the 3,640,162 vehicles affected. Click this link to go directly to the GM recall lookup tool. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6/9/2016 Just as our own Zane Merva predicted in 2014, General Motors announced a recall today and it will affect many of the vehicles near and dear to the GM-trucks.com readership. Part of the on-going Takata airbag recall debacle that has impacted most major automakers, this one includes the trucks and SUVs that make up the core of GM's business. Below is the recalled vehicles list. 2007-2011 Models of the following: - Chevrolet Silverado 1500 & Avalanche - Tahoe & Suburban - GMC Sierra 1500 - Yukon and Yukon XL - Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT and Escalade ESV - Silverado and Sierra 2500 and 3500 pickups (2009-2011) Not every single vehicle on the above list will be recalled. GM says "Because the Takata DIRs are based on both vehicle age and the state in which the vehicle is or has been registered, the specific vehicles and total number of vehicles covered by this preliminary recall will be determined following an analysis of vehicle registration data." As always, owners can check to see if thier vehicle has a recall at this website. The GM press release on this recall was unlike any this writer has ever seen. GM spends full paragraphs explaining why, although it will comply with the NHTSA recall request, it thinks the recall is unnecessary. GM says in part: "GM believes that its 2007-2011 trucks and SUVs do not pose an unreasonable safety risk at this time. This is based on no inflator ruptures during an estimated 44,000 crash deployments as well as analysis of parts returned from the field, and can be explained by the unique Takata inflator made for GM’s vehicles and features unique to GM trucks and SUVs." So on the bright side, it looks like a recall that is overly cautious. The negative view would be that this is another of many recall hassles owners will have to schedule time to deal with. Hello. I need help with something, I had an accident in my 2010 Chevrolet Silverado LT, both frontal airbags deployed, I know I have to replace them both but I wanted to know if I should buy another part so I won't see the airbag service light on my dashboard. Thank you for your help in advance.

Hello. I own a 2010 Chevy Silverado LT 4x4 CrewCab. Recently I has an accident and both of the front airbags deployed, now the front seat belts are stuck, is there a way to unlock them? or is it necessary to buy new ones? I know safety comes first but they are a litlle expensive and I can't afford them, Any help will be appreciated

Does anyone know the voltage that should be on the airbag connector when the bags are removed? I am reading 9.5 volts as it sits, but do not know if there is any amperage. My daughter rear ended an expedition and the only damage was a dented in front fender that had the perfect trailer hitch imprint extending to the airbag sensor. Both airbags went off. I am replacing the fender, and picked up some new airbags, but am not so sure about putting them in with voltage present when the key is turned on. A friend mentioned that the system normally has a voltage present to monitor the status of the air bags, but i cannot find any reference as to what it may be. Thanks in advance.
