  1. Hello everyone! So Im new in the truck world good myself a chevy avalanche 04 for my 18 birthday. It had a ac issue where passenger side would blow hot air. After diagnosis I found out that the blend door actuator was bad so I tried replacing it. I had to take out the passenger side airbag to access it. It was very tight and in the removal process I broke the shaft that controls the door :,(. Now what there isn't enough space in there to just epoxy the shaft back on. Any ideas? Summer is coming up here in so cal so for now ill just bypass the heater core but for future it would be nice to have heating lol. Any help is appreciated.
  2. I have a 01-05 5.3 Chevy motor and I am needing to know what is needed to swap it to a 07 Chevy 5.3 truck?
  3. I am currently helping my father with his transmission rebuild for the 4l60e on a 2002 avalanche, he installed a transgo 4l60e sk shift improvement kit along with adding a corvette servo. he installed a cam on the 5.3 and the engine runs flawlessly and for the transmission he added a 3000 stall converter. the transmission will shift into reverse fine and will shift into second with using the manual shift, however the transmission will not shift into drive. the valve body has been checked over and over again and everything seems to be in place. Has anyone else had this issue or know what may cause this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  4. This is my first post and kind of lame. Being from Maine, the trucks up here come in contact with a lot of road salt. I'm trying to find a new fuel filler door. The only one I could find that was in decent shape and matching color was from a 2005 Chevy Avalanche 1500. My truck is a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500hd. Does anyone know if this part will fit my truck or where I can find this type of info? Thanks.
  5. So my wife went and broke the right passenger side mirror on the Avy. They are the power extending style and of course they only extend and retract manually! What are my options for replacements? I hate these mirrors anyway but now I got a reason to change em out! I love the 07 and newer style HD mirrors on the GM's! Will these work on my truck? If not, what else would you recommend? I would love to install power folding tow mirrors using the factory power switch for the extending ones but I have not been able to find anything.
  6. My 2008 5.3L 4WD Avalanche with ~135K miles has recently been throwing a P0306 cylinder 6 misfire, along with a Stablitrak warning. It first happened a couple weeks ago but only lasted a day. I cleared the code and it was fine for another couple of weeks before it happened again today. It does go through a lot of oil (probably a at every 1,000 miles), and there is a clicking sound. I know from researching this the last couple weeks that its likely failure of the #6 cylinder lifter and/or plug fouling due to the AFM system design and/or old PCV cover. I intend on doing some diagnostics this weekend including inspecting and replacing (if needed) plugs/wires/coils, doing compression tests, and pulling off valve covers to look for stuck lifters/valves. My questions are: 1) Other than the obvious, is there anything else I should be specifically looking out for when running these tests? 2) Are there are any other diagnostic tests I should be doing while I am in there. 3) Assuming compression test is fine, and replacing plugs/wires stops the misfires, can I hold off on replacing a bad lifter if there is one? 4) I would plan on getting a Range tuner to disable AFM (which I should have done when I bought the truck 3 years ago) and replacing the valve coverwith the new one. If the compression test is OK suggesting there is (currently) no ring, gasket, valve, etc. damage, would these measures stave off more issues? 4) If a lifter is bad and I really need to replace it now, can I just replace the one, or do I need to replace them all? Also, how difficult is it to take the passenger side head off to access the #6 lifters? 5) If it does fail compression, am I likely screwed and looking at a rebuild or replacement? 6) Any other advice, recommendations, or thoughts? Thanks in advance!
  7. I took a trip to Louisiana Sunday night and on the way back I noticed that my cruise control was not working when I stop to get gas I walk to the back of my truck and the brake lights are still on even with the key turned off my immediate thought was that the brake switch was bad After replacing it I found out that it was not the Brake switch so my second thought was that maybe having recently have pulled a trailer that the trailer pin plug may have been shorted out I disconnected it and that was not the problem either I then began checking fuses all the fuses are good and even when I remove the brake light fuse the brake light still stay on the only way to get them to turn off Is to disconnect the battery I am at a loss of what it could be please help
  8. I put the truck in neutral, like you should, i bring the truck to a stop, and i push the 4lo button. It flashes for about 5-10 secs but then goes right back to 2hi, I've tried rolling about 2-3mph and it still won't even engage. Its a 2002 chevy avalanche z71, with the 5.3L V8. Sometimes when i press it, it engages no problem, but other times, it just flashes and goes right back to 2hi. When i press 4hi, it goes right in, but 4lo is giving me some problems.
  9. I have a 2004 avalanche I change the head unit I went to Walmart In bought the plug for my new radio. plugged everything in and my front speakers do not work. I've heard and read A lot about the pre amp. But nobody explains how to do it In detail. I also have an extra plug with 2 wires that are inertwined with each otherI don't know what those 2 wires are or what they go.
  10. I have a 2003 Chevy Avalanche 1500. My factory amp under my center console I believe is going out because sometimes when we get in the truck the radio plays audio & others it does not. Everything comes on as it should, just does not play any sound. We could be driving & all of a sudden it comes on. I have unhooked all my wires at least 3 times & re hooked them up just to make sure I have not had any loose wires or bad connections. So I want to do a temp fix until I can replace the factory amp. I want to bypass the amp & hook the speakers straight up to each other from the amp wiring harness. I would unhook the 2 wiring harnesses on the amp & then run a jumper wire from each speaker to make it like the amp never there. I want to run it this way instead of running all new wires to each door. If anyone can help me with this project that would be great.

  12. Greetings all. I sure would appreciate any members thoughts on my ABS Traction control nightmare that I'm having, I just can't seem to get ahead on this one. 2006 Avalanche 1500 4x4 LT, 108k. Started out as an intermittent ABS and Traction Control lights activating with the "service stability" in the display. They would stay on for five minutes driving down the highway, then turn off for a half hour, then back on. All intermittently. Ran a scanner, no DTC's. I tried a different scanner but still, no DTC's. Cleaned up the grounds and Decided to replace the front hub assemblies with the sensors because they're almost the same price for just the sensors. Still getting the warning lights on. Replaced the rear sensors but it helped none. So, not much left so I replaced the ABS Module. Had the Dealer Reprogram and still... ABS and TC Lights are illuminating. Could air in the brake lines cause this weird abs problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Anyone have any experience with lowering their 2013 4X4 Avalanche

    Toy hauler!

    From the album: Summer fun!

Pic of my rig set up for summer fun! Gotta say, I do love that 8.1 torque and power! And it even gets better MPG (towing that is!) then my tired 5.3! Not towing, yeah not so much!
