  1. Greetings all, I was pretty unhappy with the way my truck drove. I have a 19 LT (5.3) and I put a set of Trail Boss wheels/tires (275/65/18) on it. But, I noticed that no matter the size of a bump I went over the rear end swayed and the front bounced for what seemed like 20 minutes. Some bumps felt like my eyeballs were going to pop out of my head. Living in Los Angeles the freeways and streets are terrible, so I was in the market to get new shocks to help with the ride. I ended up getting the Bilstein 5100s. I got the adjustable height front strut and eliminated the ready lift under strut 2” spacer. I kept the truck level and set at the 2” lift position. I also installed Cognito tubular upper control arms. I was thinking about lifting in the future, so it made sense to install at the same time. I ditched the 275/65/18 DuraTrac tires and got 295/70/18 Atturo Trail Blade XT (I’d be happy to give initial thoughts on these tires, I have about 1,000 miles on them now). They are about a 34.5” tire but only about 11.5” wide. Separate topic of course. These shocks have GREATLY improved the ride quality of the truck on both street and highway. I would highly recommend these shocks if you are in the market. Best bang for the buck. I have driven about 1,000 miles of combined city/highway and they are worth every penny. Even my wife has noticed how much smoother it drives. If you have any questions about the shocks or tires I’m here to help!
  2. First post here. I’m looking to purchase Bilstein 5100’s for my 2019 Silverado LD, but would like to know if the 2019 LD has the same suspension/specs as the 2018 Silverado 1500. I know the LD is a remake of the 3rd gen 1500 but want to make sure the Bilsteins install right. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I have a 2021 AT4 with a 3.0. I'm looking to upgrade my UCAs but I can't decide on a particular brand or type. I've looked at everything from BDS, Zone, Cognito, Readylift, etc. I have Bilstein 5100s coming in to go all around and plan on running the fronts at full 1.1" height. I'm not looking to raise anymore than that or I'd just go 4" kit. I talked myself out of a level kit after hearing about all the ball joint and CV issues. I plan to run at least 34s when my tires wear out. ( I run 295/55R20s right now) It's my daily driver and don't plan on plowing thru mud holes on the regular but I still need it to perform on some back roads from time to time.
  4. Hey all..i have what is probably a dumb question. I have a 2020 trailboss..and im wondering if I can install the bilstein 5100 shocks to just level it out and if so what do I set them to before installing to get the desired leveled height ? 1" or 2" ? Any info will be appreciated..thanks in advance
  5. I have a 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation which I have just raised 2 inches using the ReadyLift 2.25 inch lift blocks in the rear and Bilstein 5100 shocks for the AT4 front and back. On the front I used the middle height adjustment slot which raises the front about 0.55 inch higher than stock. I have 40mm of rake at the moment with this setup. These Bilstein's are a huge improvement from the Rancho's that it came with from the factory. The ride is firm yet comfortable and the vehicle is a lot more stable with less body roll. The back sits firmly on the road and does not bounce and 'tail walk' from side to side over the bumps like it did with the Rancho's. I have a section of road that I drive regularly and the difference is very noticeable. Knowing what I know now, I would have changed shocks the first week that I bought the truck.
  6. I have a 2014 Sierra 1500. I am due for new tires so I am going to go a size bigger and keep the stock rims (265/65r18 to 275/65/r18). Before I do this, I plan on changing out all of the shocks and installing the bilstein 5100's. I figured this was the best option for ride quality, while still being able to add a little extra height to the truck without putting too much stress on any other parts. My question is, has anyone set the front shocks to the height setting (is there any downside to this?) and then the rear to the highest setting (1"). If so, can does this still create enough rake to give the truck a leveled look when pulling a trailer? I dont like the nose high look. Looking for any recommendations on what i should set the shocks to in order to achieve more height on the truck, but be able to tow without the nose being higher than the back. Include pictures if you have them! I am also assuming i should get an alignment after installing the shocks and new tires right? Thanks, Ted
  7. Was talking to a customs shop in my area and asked what they'd recommend for a leveling kit (parts + installation) for my 2014 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71. They reached back out with a quote and said they would choose to install a set of Bilstein 5100 adjustable struts in the front, and that it would gain about 1.85" in the front. They quoted me $569 for everything including alignment, does that seem reasonable? Has anybody on here gone that route with a comparable pickup? All I've seen are 2 or 2.5" leveling kits, would 1.85" be enough to eliminate the factory rake as well as be able to fit 33's one day? If anyone has and could share before and after pictures, that would be great. Thank you
  8. Lol, Sorry for the Title. Im looking for some advice. I just replaced stock rancho shocks all the way around with bilstein 5100s. Now, When the shocks were still "breaking in" the ride was fantastic. Now, about 4,000 miles later, i'm rocking like a boat again in the front. Not nearly as bad considering how bad the OEM shocks were. Here is an example of what was on the truck when I bought it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u-To7Nn0bE Can anyone tell me what I can do to get a smoother ride? I will say its ALL highway miles-45 miles in Dallas daily (you can imagine what thats like) I was looking at hellwig sway bars but would that help? My sway bar and bushings look brand new!
  9. Have any of you ever removed the rear block to level (or somewhat level) the truck? I have a 2017 Sierra 1500 SLT Crew Cab and am just trying to level it. I have no need to lift it and will not be towing anything at any point. It seems like just removing the rear block would be less invasive than messing with the geometry of the front end with a 5100 set at max height. 4 Wheel Parts has a great President's Day sale on the adjustable 5100s + free install (great deal for the fronts) + $152 alignment + tax...so $535 out the door price for me in southern CA. But removing the rear block is free. My goal is to level the truck as much as I can and probably keep the stock tire size. I have a supercharger too, so maybe lowering the rear an inch and a half is better than raising the front. Is it a wise idea to remove the rear block to accomplish this level?????
  10. Not to beat a dead horse but I can only seem to find info on 2014-2016.... My Truck: 2017 Sierra CC SLT 5.3 with the stock 20in (20x9) rims & Bilstein 5100s at 1.25" I want to get new tires (nitto ridge grapplers or toyos etc) and I would like to move up to a 285/55r20 if possible. From what I've read I know the UCAs changed for 2017 making guys experience rubbing on the UCAs with 33s on levels. Was wondering if anyone had done a 285/55 on stock rims with stock height or Bilsteins and did they rub, or rub all the time/just full lock? TIA -Ed
  11. I know the 6112s are semi-new to the community. My question is what would be the lowest possible notch I can install these and still have enough clearance to fit 275X 65R 20 KO2s. I’d imagine the notch settings are similar to the 5100s accept there is 1 extra notch I believe. I have been searching online for the past week and cannot find anyone that confirms the lowest possible setting to fit these tires. I know I can install them at the highest setting and fit just fine, But I am trying to keep rake in the rear due to occasional towing and i do not want to add a leveling block to the rears. I was thinking the third notch (1.25” of lift) would work but I’m not sure if It will get rubbing. Does anyone have any idea on this? I currently have a 2.5 inch leveling spacer but do not want to install it when I switch to the Bilstein 6112s. Thanks!
  12. Rancho RS9000XL vs Bilstein 5100 I am at 72k and preparing/saving up for shock replacement on all four corners. I like the that the Rancho RS9000XL can be adjusted (claimed 400% difference between lowest and highest setting). I always hear good things about the Bilstein 5100s though. Any experience with the Rancho RS9000XL shocks? 13. What tire setups are people running with Bilstein 5100's and Body lift? Been searching around and havent found too much luck. Tire options on stock 18" wheels (+24mm offset I believe) are pretty much: 275/70, 285/70 or 295/70. Thinking the 295/70 may be too much tire and rub sway bar. Wheel liner will be zip tied. Current setup: Bilstein 5100 at full height 1.5" Zone body lift
