Hey guys, I got a 2015 Silverado 5.3l. 138,250km. started ticking sometime last winter. Would happen instantly at start up and last about 5 minutes then would fade away. Sounded like a lifter. Took it to the dealer they said they couldn't hear it. Sound went away so left it. Fast forward to this winter and as Soon as the weather started to cool down I noticed the ticking again. Took it back to the dealer said they couldn't hear it again. I went and picked up my truck right at closing, soon as I fired her up the sound was there but everyone was gone so no one to hear it. I took a video. Next day I called the dealer, sent the video. Took like a week to get back to me. In the meantime I had taken videos pretty much every time I started it. Long story short after a brief fight with them about them trying to say it's normal etc they agreed that it sounded like a noise coming from the valve train. Left my truck with them, they called me said they had to change all lifters. Went to pick up my truck and on start up the sound is still there. This was a month ago. Sent more videos and a previous video from before they did the work and they are saying they can't hear it again. Took it in in person they agreed that there's an issue again and they will look at it. Now they are saying it's possible bad injector noise but they can't figure out which one ?. In the meantime I took it to another dealership they changed the vacuum pump. After that the sound changed. Now it's no longer at start up but once the truck has reached operating temperature and is more of a dull sound. Took it back to that same dealer who did the vacuum pump and they said valve train noise and deffo not injectors. But they won't work on it because the other dealer already did. They didn't change the VLOM or the cam. I had/have no check engine lights. Truck runs awesome. Sometimes rough idle. Any ideas what it could be?

Has anyone ever ran their stage 4 cam in a 5.3? I talked to texas speed and they recommended this to me for more power but when I talked to a sales guy at Brian Tooley Racing they claim that this cam will not have enough piston to valve clearance. Has anybody had problems with Texas speed in the past? Who is a more reputable company? Thanks in advance!

Ok so here is my problem! I'm new here so hopefully I can get this rite lol!! I have a 2004 suburban 5.3 vortec 2wheel drive! 170,XXX miles on it. I've owned it for about a year now. Always took care of it. Truck is very nice and well kept up! So here is my issue. I was sitting in my buddy's driveway last nite talking for a min when I noticed a knock coming about! I mentioned it to him but we thought maybe it was just the AC compressor or something.( Noise was light at this time) so we think nothing of it continue to talk and I noticed it getting louder! So I get out and I swear it was a rod knock from in pan so I leave go home (about a mile away) shut it off stop for the night and tow it to my shop this morning... I drop the pan pulled all rod caps and checked the bearings then pulled all the main caps and checked those as well!! THEY LOOK GREAT! so now I go to the oil that I drained out of it prior to dropping the pan there is gold flakes of metal in my oil! So I keep looking to find that looking up between the crank I can see the cam shaft and I can see a lobe is shot!! So now I'm gonna put lifters and a new cam.... Now here is my question where did the gold flakes come from? As far as I know gold flakes are from a bad bearing correct???? But I don't have a bad bearing I have a bad lobe on my cam and a bad lifter!!! Would the bad cam lead to a bad cam bearing?? HELP ME PLEASEEEE

New to this whole forum thing so let's just get down to business. I have a 2015 Silverado 1500 with the L83 5.3L currently I have an Edelbrock E-Force 2300 stage 1 supercharger and Borla atak cat back exhaust. I have been researching all over and for the right camshaft size for my application (1/4 mile/street) and haven't really gotten anywhere. what Camshafts are performing well in these SIDI engines with superchargers? I'm aware that I would need stronger valves, springs, and most likely rods, I've heard great things from Texas speed and Comp Cams but I am not partial to either. once I do the Camswap I will also be looking into a smaller pulley and new injectors which I will also need feedback for. I'm currently running the SCT tune that came with the kit from Edelbrock but I'm sure it will not be adequate once I put in the new cams, smaller pulley, and injectors. ANY INPUT WILL HELP!!!!
