  1. I have a 98 Silverado z71 with 5.7 350. The check engine light came on giving p0405 code. (low egr voltage). I have replaced the egr and nothing changed. I tested the wiring with the egr unplugged and it tests fine, but if I plug the egr in I lose the 12 volts. If I unplug it I have 12 volt. Now that's with my ohm meter. If I put a load on it, ie hook a headlight to it, it wont power it. I have traced all of the wires back to the ecm. They all are fine. I even unplugged the wiring from ecm and put 12volts from the battery thru the 12volt wire going to the egr and the wire is fine. A friend who is a mechanic by trade said it could be the ecm. I replaced the ecm today.(not a brand new one. one from a used parts/salvage yard). I got the truck to run and the check engine light came on within a few minutes. Same as before, with the ohm meter I have 12 volts going to the egr with the plug unplugged, as soon as I plug it in it goes to 0.03 volts. I even bought another egr thinking it could possible be a bad/shorted one. I'm at a total loss. any help would be great. Thank you!!
  2. Dears, I bought my 2017 Chevy Colorado Duramax Z71 brand new and I just love it. I was super satisfied with the performance and features of the truck. Due to the nature of my job, I had to move outside the U.S for a long mission to Africa, so I took my truck with me. Here started my nightmare. Just few days of use, I had the famous warning message regarding the quality of gas (DEF). I changed several brands of DEF but no success! I read somewhere that the shelf life of the product is key for the quality of the fluid. Now my truck is kind of locked, I am allowed to drive 6 Miles/h, it means it is not working. The worse thing is that there is no GM, Chevrolet store to assist. I was thinking to delete the whole DEF system if possible since the location where I am based is not regulated by the gas emissions. I will be very grateful if you could assist as I am suffering without my car. Thanks for your help.
  3. HD focused but could it dribble down to smaller trucks https://propane.com/environment/podcast/episode-8-could-propane-be-the-new-diesel/
  4. Who has deleted their EGR and was it worth it performance wise as well as financial? Do you need to buy a tuner if you do? Do you recommend a tuner instead of an egr delete? Thanks for any advise
  5. I have a 1995 GMC k1500 4x4 with the 5.7L TBI engine in it. I just bought the truck and as it is about 24 years old, it only needs to pass one more emisions test before It is grandfathered and therefore immune to e-checks (I live in northern Ohio) and also before I can get plates for it. The problem is, I've failed e check 3 times. A code 32 pops up every time I test it (on my own with a reader) and when I got the emissions test, high nox is the reason it fails. This would make sense, as code 32 is an egr error, and the egr being faulty would definitely trigger high nox, however: The egr valve has been replaced (yes, a negative one) The egr vacuum solenoid has been replaced Map sensor replaced Spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires. Replaced Even went as far as to replace the oxygen sensor. There doesn't seem to be any vacuum leaks and every test I've done on any part of the egr system points to it all running correctly. The kicker is: the truck runs great! No loss in power. Idles great. Super clean and well kept truck. Notes : it does have a Flowmaster super 10 dual exhaust on it, but it isn't a true dual as only one pipe comes from the catalytic into the exhaust, Then two come out. Also, high nox seems to be caused by high engine Temps, however, my engine temp on my dash shows that it never gets above about 165 or 170*. Idk if this is relevant but it seemed strange. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm really at a loss and I'm running out of time before I need to buy another temporary tag. Thanks again - Joe
