  1. My truck won't pass emissions. It shows "not ready" for the Evap system, catalyst, and an o2 sensor. I drove it for about 500 miles between tests. I got looking at the vehicles history and it looks like the "not ready" issue has been ongoing for this truck? Any ideas?
  2. 2015 GMC Sierra. 60k miles. Crew cab, short bed. Got a P0445 2 weeks ago on a road trip for the holidays. Cleared it, it came back immediately, drove it back ~1000 miles no issues just bad mileage. Now I'm getting a P0449. After getting under the truck I realized the wires going to the evap solenoid are torn up. How? Why? I'm not sure. So, I'm attempting to splice them back together before replacing the solenoid but cannot get the plug off for the life of me. I've attached photos of the wires and the plug/connector. I've tried pulling Part B straight down, away, up, etc- and it doesn't budge. I've tried prying Part A out (away from the wires) and it doesn't budge either. I've also tried pushing in the red tab between the split in Part A but that also doesn't budge. Can anyone help me figure out what to do here? Is my pin/connector broken? Thanks in advance...
  3. Hello guys, this has probably come up a million times but my 2005 silverado 1500 with the 5.3L has a p0446 EVAP code. Its for a vent control circuit malfunction. I have done a ton of research and have replaced a few parts so far including the vent valve, fuel cap, and fuel tank pressure sensor. WHAT else can it be!! The only symptoms I notice that could be a clue is every now and then when I begin fuelling, the pump stops like 4 or 5 times and then pumps steady to fill up. Could this be a sign of a bad canister? I'm not sure if anyone has any idea let me know, I got to pass emissions in February. Thanks!
  4. My 2000 Silverado has an issue with the evap system that is causing the P0449 trouble code. I've watched several videos and it looks kind of simple to fix the issue, except my truck seems to be different. Most videos show a small canister behind the fuel tank. Mine however has a larger canister in front of the tank - I think. Am I looking at the right thing? Two fuel lines seem to go to it. A mechanic said the truck had to be upgraded to fix the trouble code - apparently the old parts are no longer available. I'm wondering if old parts might be available via Ebay, Amazon, etc - things he can't do (because he has to warranty his work) but as the owner I might be willing to do. Am I even looking in the right place?
  5. Short novel coming.. my 2006 Silverado was throwing 0499 code so replaced fuel cap, purge and valve solenoids.. check engine light still on. Didn’t bother checking power of course, took her to the stealership and $220 later found out that the system wasn’t getting juice. The fuse was fine, but the fuse terminal in the fuse box was loose or faulty so was only getting intermittent power. They told me they did a “temp fix” to it but that if the light came back on i might need a new fuse box. Sure enough next day the light comes back on.. How hard is it to replace a fuse terminal? Honestly I’m having trouble even figuring out how to remove the fuse box itself, looks different than all the ones I’ve seen on YouTube. Should any old mechanic be able to do this or do i need to take her back to the dealership? Do i need to replace the ENTIRE fuse box? Thanks..
  6. 2017 Sierra 5.3 4x4 crew cab short bed. So I had a Rhino liner sprayed in my truck yesterday, and when I picked up the truck the CEL was on for the first time since I’ve owned it. It was pouring rain and I was in a hurry to get back to work, so I figured I’d deal with it later, and maybe they unplugged something or let the battery drain. Light stayed on back to work and again on the way home. Checked the codes and it had a p0449 and another one for throttle position, but drove fine. Reset the codes and drove to work today with no CEL. Remote start wouldn’t work when I left work, and sure enough it was back, but just the p0449 this time. I checked all of the hoses, wiring, and what I could see of the tank and etc but I see no problems. The solenoid is under the cab and not near the bed, so any ideas if they could have jacked something up when prepping or spraying? Truck is under warranty but I don’t want to pay $100 for GM to say that Rhino folks messed something up and it’s not covered under warranty, but don’t want to harass the bedliner guys if it truly was a coincidence and not related to anything they did. Thoughts?
